I found the Brick Path B&B through VRBO, itself a great find. I stayed for a month in the East-meets-West Cottage, a small studio behind the main house and garden. It was perfect for my needs, having the three C's: cozy, comfortable and convenient. I did a lot of writing and was able to get around on public transit; no car necessary! Nearby Solano Ave. has everything one reasonably needs. Wendy is a friendly and knowledgeable hostess who is there to help and advise you but also knows how to leave you alone. While we didn't see much of each other during my stay, when I left I felt I had made a new friend in Berkeley. I hope to make this visit an annual experience, to get away from eastern winters in February. Rainy Berkeley is a vast improvement over snowy, icy Philadelphia.
