Big Pine Key house description
Come to our house and find a completely renovated 2 BR/2 BA stilt house that overlooks a 40 ft. lap pool and 75 ft. canal front for your use. If you are a boater, you can dock it on the canal behind the house for your convenience. Up to 30 ft. You can also bring your jet ski or kayak. We have installed new solid wood kitchen and bathroom cabinets. New granite counter tops and travertine marble floors throughout house and bathrooms. All new SS appliances with spacious refrigerator and gas oven/stove, and a newly installed tankless water heater for an unlimited source of hot water. There are 2 TV's, a 55' in the living room area and a 46 ' in the master bed room.
It is 'our home away from home'. Located in a very quiet neighborhood, far enough from the sounds of traffic, and yet, close enough to all amenities to make it an easy outing i.e. groceries, fuel, marina, restaurants, and a dive shop and bait down the street. At anytime of day, you may also see the local 'KEY DEER' which inhabit the island of Big Pine.
Our home is located at mile marker 30. A 30 minute drive south gets you to Key West for a day of shopping, dining, and whatever else that tempts you. To the north, you can drive 15 minutes to Bahia Honda State park, rated one of the Florida Keys top beaches. If you like boating, whether you have your own boat or you rent one, or go on a charter, Looe reef is one of the best around for diving and snorkeling. If you like lobster, you can catch them close by. Just be sure to follow the laws and use all required gear. If you enjoy fishing, there are plenty of guides to take you.
At the end of the day, come back home and grill your catch and enjoy your favorite cocktail while remembering all the fun you've had. We guarantee you will return!!!

Just returned from spending the month October in this beautiful home. Casa Jose was the perfect property for us. It had everything we could possibly need or want. Looked just like the photos, was very clean and very well maintained. Felt right at home as soon as we walked through the door. Loved the pool--I think we went for a swim every day. Great location on Big Pine Key, nice neighborhood. Loved that Big Pine Key is midway between Key West and Marathon. The drives to and from these locations were just beautiful--never tired of them. We had our bikes with us, so we took rides in the early mornings and evenings and were always thrilled to see the Key Deer. Iguanas were pretty cool, too! Favorite Beaches: Bahia Honda State Park and Sombrero Beach in Marathon. Favorite Restaurant: Sunset Grille in Marathon (great food (loved the breakfasts), happy hour, pool and awesome sunset). Snorkeling - Strike Zone, located on the corner of Hwy. 1 and Ships Way (just down the street from the house) provided a fun and affordable snorkeling trip to Looe Key where the snorkeling was breathtaking! We kept very busy, and it was always wonderful returning to this very comfortable and beautiful home. We appreciate that John was always available to answer any questions we had, and we definitely would recommend this property to family and friends. Thanks again!

Case Jose is perfectly situated for maximum enjoyment of the beautiful Florida Keys. Our family of five was able to do all of the things that we enjoy most about the Keys; lobstering , fishing, exploring, and relaxing by the pool. The canal provided quick deep water access to the Backcountry as well as the Atlantic. It was just a short boat ride out to Loo Key where we were able to dive the coral reef there. The house was clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated. The kitchen exceeded our expectations, being equipped with every appliance and utensil needed to prepare our fabulous ‘catch of the day’. The owner, John Arias, was pleasant and easy to work with and readily available to answer any questions we had. Casa Jose is a beautiful home in a uniquely wonderful place. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.

May and June in "Paradise"
May and June in "Paradise"
Having just spent May and June at Casa Jose I can certainly endorse this house and Big Pine Key in general. My wife and I have returned to Big Pine a half dozen times over the last 8 years. Our first stay at Casa Jose made this vacation one of our best. The house is as advertised and the pool makes for a terrific way to relax after a full day of boating, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking or what have you. I am a fisherman who kept a 22ft center console boat in the canal. Easy access to both the "back country" and the ocean side reef make this a terrific location. Whether you start by "jumping tarpon" in the canal or heading to the flats or blue water it won't take you long to be fishing. If you go "out back" get some local knowledge and you will feel much more comfortable running the skinny water. Convenient power and hose connections make boat clean up and maintenance easy. The owner, John Arias, was very accomodating providing virtually everything on my and my wife's wish list for a rental house. Some of our favorite spots to eat are No Name Pub, the Cracked Egg, Mangrove Mama's, the Square Grouper, and finally the Hogfish Grill on Stock Island. Should you need boat maintenance, fuel or marine supplies the folks at Sea Center were very helpful to me. They also have the cheapest in water marine fuel. Don't miss Bahia Honda state park. Enjoy the key deer who will visit the house every day! If you like the water and nature you will love Big Pine and Casa Jose.

We just returned from a months vacation in this exceptional property. In fact our entire Casa Jose experience was exceptional! The property is very nice and clean and the kitchen is fully stocked with every possible appliance, utensil, pot, etc. you will need. As soon as you enter the house you realize this is a home, not just a rental. The area is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. In addition to enjoying the pool which is the perfect size and depth we also greatly enjoyed snorkeling in the canal! John stated his goal was to make our visit “perfect” and he certainly succeeded. He was always available and able to answer any questions we had. I wouldn’t change a thing about this property and highly recommend it. Steve & Debbie

John has a great place that is one step above the rest. If there are any problem we just emailed him and he took care of them quickly. The home was clean and ready when we arrived. We will go back some day.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The house was beyond any reasonable expectation, excellently remodeled with every detail paid close attention to. Extremely nice pool and perfect swimming canal and dockage. I have stayed in many places up and down the Keys for the past 30 years and this was by far the best. Can’t wait to return, see you next year for sure.

Beautiful home with very good ocean access! Lily and John thought of every detail to make the house like home. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. Furnishings are all new and clean. Ocean access is perfect...less than 5 minutes to open ocean and nice snorkeling. 20 minutes to beautiful Looe Key protected reef. Pool was especially nice after a long day on the water! We will definitely be back!

Owner response: Thanks for the great response. It is greatly appreciated. It is Lily's and mine desire to provide to others only what we would want in a short or long vacation experience ourselves. We are very happy to know that we have been able to provide that feeling to others. Thanks again and come book soon!
Why my first review did not appear, I guess I will never know. Anyway we rented this home for July and August of 2011 and were more than pleased with what we found. The property had recently been completely redone with every possible modern appliance that any one could possibly want, from the three new, large, flat screen TV's (one in ea. bedroom and one in living room) to the top of the line refrigerator, washer & dryer.. I doubt that you will find a kitchen anywhere that is as well stocked and the home is tastfully decorated throughout. The pool is a nice addition and provides ambiance to the property even if you do not use it. The owner was easy to work with we and very helpful with any questions that we had. Sadly, we did not have a boat but this place is perfect if you do with easy access to both the Atlantic and the Gulf. We have been to the Keys many times, but never enjoyed it as much as staying here. We hope to return next year.

About the owner: We are natives of south Florida. I have been working for the fire department for 15 years and my wife has raised our 4 children. We both enjoy the sun and boating. Fishing is something we have always enjoyed together as well.
Why the Owner Chose Big Pine Key:
We chose to buy here because we loved the area. It is quiet, on the water, close to diving and fishing, and Big Pine has all amenities required from a grocery store to a lumber store and everything in between. The locals are friendly and Big Pine has that small hometown feel.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It is very relaxing. It is close to our favorite things to do, and yet, far enough away that it is not very busy or crowded.
