Amanda's Casita was perfect for us and perfect for Caye Caulker. Casual environment, clean and well kept, with all the necessities and at a great price. I highly recommend this! And Amanda is great - helpful and knowledgeable. Would stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for taking the time to find it again and bother with a review - I know it is a pain but so helpful for others! Thank you so much and please come and visit again soon!

We've been home just over a week - can't wait to go back!! 1st - Amanda is amazing! From our first inquiry she has been so helpful. We exchanged several emails asking every little question we could think of and she would answer right away. The home is wonderful - 3 couples and more than enough space for all. Although the kitchen is fully supplied, we only used it to make coffee and store our beer! There were way too many wonderful places to eat out every meal, with prices being pretty affordable, from breakfast, snacks to wonderful dinners. We spent time every day around the pool/patio/rooftop. There was plenty to do-if you wanted to- or nothing to do, which my husband wanted. It was great fun people watching from the porch, plus the beer wagon drives by every morning and you just wave it down and buy! Couldn't be easier! Air conditioners in the bedrooms made the rooms really comfortable for sleeping. Best times were just walking around the island, checking out the food and people. Loved Habenero's and Rose's and Caulker Pizza- stay away from Jolly Rogers! Local band played at the Sport's Bar and it was really fun.Lots of dogs running around, but all just seemed to want to play and be loved. Wanted to take them all home tho. Got to spend some great time in conversation with the neighbors - really interesting people. We've been to several small islands, looking for the perfect place with character, good food, friendly people, things to do or equally content doing nothing. I can honestly say that Caye Caulker has it all. And Amanda and her Casita were a huge part of it all. Definitely recommend this rental ( BUT I better be able to have my house back when I'm ready for it. Hope it doesn't get too popular!) Thanks so much Amanda - and Scrumpy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: WOW guys! Thanks so much for your lovely review about not only the house, but the island too! I thought I had found a real treasure and it is lovely to see that you agree! Come back any time and enjoy it all over again! Thank you again. Amanda

My husband, my son, his wife and myself stayed at the lovely Casita for 5 days the first of June, 2010. Everything was just what we were expecting or much better. Amanda was extremely helpful. Caye Caulker is a wonderful place, and you can bet we want to return. We loved the Rainbow Bar and Grill along with several other places. The pool was a delightful place to cool off. Our biggest gripe was, "NOT ENOUGH time"!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The listing doen't do the property, the island, or the host justice. It was top notch all the way around. For our wedding / honeymoon, my husband and I along with friends and family rented a few properties on the island a while back (and not through vrbo - I'm a newbie to this webspace). This island was perfect for our sensibilities (San Pedro - yes, of the Madonna song - to the north is great if you like being a bit busier, but Caye Caulker is where it's at if you really want to sit back and relax. That being said, activities are not out of reach - the reef is ~1 mile off shore with fabulous diving and snorkeling (thanks Carlos!) and there are tours inland available from here, too. Restaurants (super!) and Internet are available, but the markets (and our own catch-of-the-day - thanks to Wilbur) meant we spent a lot of time in the fabulous kitchen. It truly felt like home. I don't think I could have had a more perfect wedding. We were only 11, but the host / people on the island (locals or imports) all treated us like family. It made the event and all the days around (3 weeks in total), comfortable. From young to old (as there was quite an age range amongst us), we all agree that Caye Caulker and this Casita is the place to be! GO SLOW!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: Arrived on Caye Caulker in 1999, youngish and clueless! Loved it and over time (10 years) managed to buy the land, build the first home, and generally get my act together. This laid back village made me feel welcome and now live here all year - just across the street from this property and able to help out with anything you might need at any time! I try not to get in your way - but feel free to holler!
Why the Owner Chose Caye Caulker:
Who could say no to this perfect island mere moments from the second largest reef in the world and all that has to offer? No cars, sandy streets, relaxed folk! Perfect!
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Caye Caulker is a perfect combination of laid back beach style village life, but now offers all kinds of amenities too! There are many stores, restaurants, bars, tour operators. With all the sea has to offer, and that amazing climate, there is nothing difficult in making that decision about coming to stay!
