Direct Ocean Front at World Famous Banyan's Surf Break

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Our 800+ square feet Kona Bali Kai 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom + Lanai Condominium is DIRECT OCEAN FRONT with an underhand rock toss to the sea wall. You can't get any closer and stay dry. If you want DIRECT Ocean Front, DIRECTLY in front of the most popular Island surf break in a TOTALLY remodeled unit at a reasonable price you have found it.
Our late 2010 purchased condo underwent a complete (demo'd to block walls and rebuilt over a 3 month period) $75,000 remodel with the work managed by the retired Project Manager Owner. New custom cherry cabinets in Kitchen/Baths, Granite slab counters, new front walkway windows and rear Lanai sliders, new custom tiled showers (Master bath w/ glass block enclosure), new patterned floor tile in greatroom/lanai, new rugs in bedrooms, updated electrical system, new 40' flat panel TV w/blue ray player and DVR, Quality Casablanca Fans in each major room and a new, available AC unit. We also provide free long distance calls to the Mainland US/Canada and free Wifi.
The famous (site of frequent competitions) Banyan Surf Break is directly in front of our unit so you'll enjoy watching the surfers while you relax on the full unit width lanai. Our unit is on the convenient 3rd building level with free ground level parking and no steps to unit with use of the elevator.
The Living Room and Master Bedroom each utilize floor to ceiling sliders accessing the spacious ocean front lanai. The new sliders are double glass so you can control the ocean surf noise level in the condo by opening or shutting the doors. Custom shoji type sillouette sliding glass panels (Unique to Kona Bali Kai) separate the Greatroom from the MBR.
The coastline in front of Kona Bali Kai has tide pools and sandy areas - perfect for poking around on a lazy afternoon. Free propane fired outdoor barbeques are available for guests and a turtle (Hono) visitor or two is a frequent sight.
White Sands County Park is 1 mile south, Kahaluu snorkeling beach/bay is 2 miles south and there is a great small hidden beach a short walk away I'll tell you about in my client letter.
We live nearby (1 mile) at an ocean view condo which we managed as a vacation rental for 10 years before retiring and moving to Kona. We understand how important our guests vacation time is and do our utmost to provide a positive experience. We provide a detailed 16 page guest letter to our clients listing our favorite guide book and information on a host of our favorite beachs, day hikes and snorkel spots to help you with your vacation planning.
There is a concierge available in the Kona Bali Kai lobby to help you with commercial excursions like luau's, etc.
Sharon is a part time commercial artist specializing in tropical flower water colors. You will enjoy several examples of her paintings in the condo.

This condo is very well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. There are beach mats, chairs, a beach umbrella, coolers and a backpack for your use as well. It is very close to White sands beach and good snorkelling is a short drive away. it was fun watching the surfers from our lanai, who were out from 7 in the morning till nightfall. We loved the noise of the surf!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed here just 2 nights (between other rentals) but loved the ocean front location. A great place to watch for whales and surfers catching their waves. Gorgeous layout and modern furnishings. Didn't do much cooking, but looked like there was everything you'd need. We loved that the bedroom had a sliding door to the ocean, so we could sleep with the breeze and sound of the waves. When shut, though, the door muffled almost all ocean sounds (for those who want to forget they're ocean front?). Great condo, we'd come back here. Very responsive owner with potential activity ideas and area information.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We're frequent visitors to the Big Island and the Kona Bali Kai is our complex of choice because of its absolute oceanfront location and building's design. The living room and master bedroom *both* front the large oceanfront lanai making the views great from either room. Additionally, the building design "arches" outward toward the ocean meaning that each lanai is staggered back from the center so they are private; you cannot see from one lanai into the next. If you're already sold on KBK with the great views from every unit, here's what makes Unit 305 unique: Lynn and Sharon have upgraded it with top-notch elements (custom cabinetry, glass shoji-type screens dividing living room and bedroom, dual-pane windows/sliding doors, premium appliances, granite counters, tiled showers, flat screen TVs) which will make your stay even nicer. This third-floor unit is near the south end of the complex, just over "the rock" which surfers always use to enter the water; this gives you something additional to watch--if you've tired of watching the ever-rolling breakers as they cascade into white foam on the shoreline rocks. Speaking of those rocks, the constant sound of the waves crashing is soporific for us--but if you'd like a break from the sound, slide the dual-pane doors shut and the unit becomes a quiet cocoon. If you've stayed at KBK in a unit without the dual-paned windows, you'll understand that this is a real feature of this unit. Communication with the owners was speedy; they responded to each question promptly, providing detailed answers. They were very easy to work with, both before I decided on this unit for our stay as well as after the reservation had been made. This left us feeling reassured with our decision. We might suggest an additional long towel rack in the master bath to permit one towel opened up on each (necessary in the moister ocean environment) for better drying--but, gee, that's a small wish list.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Wow.. this place rocks. The vacation was a birthday present from my husband and then to top it off with the best place to stay was a double bonus. Everything was as Lynn stated and more. From Lynn's directions to places to visit, the little booklet he sent with the confirmation was a life saver. You will not be disappointed by staying here. Being able to leave your sliding glass door open and listen to the waves below 24/7 say no more. Thank you Lynn for creating an oasis of its own. We loved your place. Wow.. what a great place this was. The trip to the Big Island was a birthday present from my husband. Then to be able to stay in a place that more than we expected was a double bonus. Just being able to leave your sliding glass door open to hear the ocean 24/7 was such a treat. Lynn provided great directions and a list of great places to visit in Kona - the Big Island's West side. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us have a wonderful time in Kona. This truly was a great place to stay. Hugs~ Lori and Bobby GDid you find this review helpful? As soon as you open the door you will say...WOW! Everything is exactly like the pictures. And the view from the condo is absolutely AMAZING! Everyday we were entertained watching surfers while eating breakfast. The condo was very clean and had everything you need. We found the ice chests very handy for day trips. They had beach chairs, beach towels, and boogie boards for the beach. The beds were very comfortable and the sounds of the ocean were very relaxing. We will definiately be back. We have been going to Kona and staying at Kona Bali Kai since the 1970's. We have stayed in many condos and our stay in #305 has been the best yet. It is in the location that we like and not only has the best view of the ocean but has been redecorated and is awesome. We will return and plan to stay in the same condo. The owners are wonderful.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and i couldn't have been more pleased with our stay in this condo. Having originally booked a hotel room only to later discover this gem on VRBO, I immediately cancelled the hotel reservation. Looking back, it was a very wise decision to do so. The unit has been recently updated with a fabulous kitchen and bathrooms. Everything was extremely clean and the condo was very well appointed with everything you could possibly need. On to the view... AMAZING! This condo is located directly in front of Banyans surf break which is the most popular surf spot in town. Watching the surfers provides entertainment around the clock. The sunset views are simply spectacular. It's safe to say this is the best find on VRBO in Kailua-Kona. Thanks Lynn!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Photos are indicative of the views and furnishings in this gorgeous 2-bedroom beauty. Clean and well-maintained and well-appointed in a great location to do Kona activities or head in any direction on the island. Owners were very responsive to a cable TV/Internet problem and it was fixed within the hour. A pleasant surprise was the great surf/snorkel shop attached to the lobby and the delicious poke shack next to it. Don't miss Island Lava Java sunset specials (half priced dinners) and their specialty pastries and delicious coffe in the morning. Check out the flower shop at the ourdoor market near town. Visit a couple of the Kona Coffee companies and get hooked! Check out Holualoa and the manta ray viewing off the Sheraton. Check out Living Stones Church 100 ft. down the road for an awesome and uplifting service. Can't wait to return . . .Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We just checked out of your condo today and didn't want to leave! Very nice remodel....like a magazine layout! I too was admiring bathrooms and cabinetry as another guest mentioned....great ideas for back home! The views were priceless! Front row seats on the lanai for watching the waves, surfers and sunsets. The sound of the waves on the rocks was amazing and lulled us to sleep each night.....don't get me wrong....they were crashing loudly, but we loved it! I would challenge anyone to find a nicer place on the Big Island....or anywhere! It was picture perfect! Mahalo! Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: Lynn Noffsinger (retired Intel Engineer) and Sharon Noffsinger (retired Educator) were able to achieve a long term goal by moving to Hawaii in early 2009. Our nearby residence (1 mile south from Kona Bali Kai) was a successful VRBO vacation rental (# 2767) for 10 years from 1999 to 2009. We understand the importance of our clients vacation time and make every effort to provide an outstanding value. Many of our former clients were repeat visitors or friends and family of previous clients. Except when rarely off island we accomplish all turnovers ourselves to insure the condo is perfect for your arrival.
Why the Owner Chose Kona Bali Kai:
Direct oceanfront facing a world class surfbreak with the best climate in the world. What else can we say other than how do you spell Pina Colada??
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
First you need to make the impossible choice of enjoying the lanai view or hop in the rental car and go exploring.
For lunch why not utilize the ocean front barbeques or check out the small POKI shack lunch spot next to the lobby for some island 'soul' food and a brewski?? Poki is the island version of Ahi (Tuna) sushi.
Across the street is a convenience store for those forgotten condiments, drinks and snacks.
A concierge is available in the lobby most mornings to help you plan excursions and local events.
Free island bus service is available in front of the building.
Too many options, not enough time - recommend enjoying the lanai view and watching the surfers wipe out while you mull over options.
There is also a small, secluded sand beach a short walk away I'll tell you about it in my Guest letter.
