The four of us had a wonderful stay at the condo. We truly appreciated all the extras: use of boogie boards, lawn chairs, beach coolers, etc. It made our stay even more fun to have all that in the condo. We found the unit comfortable with everything that you need except a toothbrush! Thanks so much for loaning it to us; we'll be back again some day!

The Aloha Sands unit is beautiful and just as described and pictured on the website. I loved the location as it was a very short walk to the beach (2-3 minutes) and park yet completely "off the beaten track" and a very quiet location compared to other condos directly across from the beach which have a constant flow of traffic going by. And from the pool that is literally steps away from the condo, there's a lovely view of the ocean. We found ourselves visiting the Poipu Shopping Village regularly (just a few blocks away) as the Whalers General store there had a wide variety of products (some groceries, phamaceutical items and lots of souvenirs and tee shirts) all priced very competetively. Also our favorite restaurant was there (Keoki's Paradise) and we also had 2 good meals at the Poipu Burger House (they serve breakfast till 5:00 p.m.) and enjoyed a Puka Dog there as well. We ate at the Beach House twice (very yummy!) but opted for going for lunch both times rather than dinner as it is one of the more expensive restaurants. I also enjoyed browsing through the shops at the Spouting Horn blow hole (again, a wide variety of products and god pricing). I would certainly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a spacious, quiet unit with a great location and gorgeous grounds, flowers and palm trees everywhere!

Many who know the area agree that it is a better location than some that are slightly closer to the water but have less privacy, quiet and tropical beauty. We had a delightful stay at this up-scale fully furnished townhome. We stayed for 3 weeks and had only 1 partial day of rain; the weather was magnificent. The views from the condo of the ocean and palm trees are wonderful; you feel as though the tropical vegetation is part of your internal surroundings. The condo is large, airy, very clean and contemporary. The quality furnishings include nice leather couches and tropical decor throughout; the paintings are mostly originals.The kitchen was wonderfully equipped with anything we needed. The location is what really makes this place unbeatable. The beach is right there, along with great restaurants, shopping and adventure activities; very convenient and easy to get to everything. We did a lot of activities and found it an easy drive to any part of the island. The Ultra-litre flight lesson was a real life experience and too much fun; we recommend it! Thank so much, Bob, for providing such a great place for guests like us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Manualoha Poipu Kai "Aloha Sands" condo. The location is great - very close to the beach and the complex is very spacious, as is the condo. It was perfect for 2 couples and had everything we needed for a great vacation. The owner was very easy to work with and the facilities were as advertised. I can't wait to return!

Peaceful Family Atmosphere

We enjoyed our stay at Aloha Sands. The view from the condo is of the beautiful grounds which are very well maintained with lovely palm trees and gorgeous flowers. There is a concrete path through the grounds that leads down to a road that runs along the beach, then you can just cross the road to the beach. The better swimming beach with a playground is just a little further down than the one right across the road, but still within walking distance. If we were carrying lots of chairs, etc. though, it was easier to drive around and park just across from the playground and swimming beach. Aloha Sands has some wonderful beach chairs and sand toys in the downstairs closet. You will need to bring water shoes because the ocean is full of lava rocks. You can book anything through Brennecke's within walking distance of the condo. We rented our snorkel equipment there, booked the Napoli coast boat tour, the theatrical luau in Lihue, and signed up for surfing lessons there. The other activities we did were the McBryde Botanical Garden and hiking in Kokee State Park. It is beautiful but the hike is very muddy and steep in several places. Be prepared for rain and getting muddy, including your hands. The movie theater in Waimea is very clean. The condo itself is clean and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen, good washer and dryer, and media equipment. The pool is just a short walk from the downstairs lanai and has an incredible view of the ocean. Between the great ceiling fans and open windows, we did not miss air conditioning. In fact, the island breezes contributed to the very peaceful atmosphere. There are lots of Kauai travel brochures and other guest info in the living area of the condo that will tell you about restaurants and activities to do in the area. Our favorite restaurants were Tidepools, Casa de Amici, and the Sheraton's restaurant. The gelato and Tropical Burgers at Poipu Shopping Village were also good as was the shrimp place and farmers market at Kukuiula Shopping Village. As far as grocery stores, there is the Whalers General Store in Poipu Shopping Village, the Kukuiula Market across from that Shopping Center, and Best Save in Koloa, just a short drive away. Old Koloa town is a good place to shop. The vendors at Spouting Horn Park are fun, too. We loved the family atmosphere on Kauai, so different from the frenzy of Waikiki. All of the local residents we met were so nice and helpful. It truly is a paradise!

If you do go to Kokee State Park, be sure to go all the way to Kalaulau Lookout-- a world class site, best seen in mid-day, as it often clouds up in the afternoon. This was our second time to the Poipu area and our first time at Bob's Aloha Sands condo. I could go on and on about the great location and amenities at the condo, but I don't want it to be booked when we come back next year. LOL. Honestly though, it is a great price for the location, and amenities. It is also close to the ATV adventure, Captain Andys Catamaran in Port Allen, Zip lining and hiking. Enjoy! -Lillian Napa CA -

We had a delightful stay at Aloha Sands in February of this year. A friend had recommended the Poipu area for our first visit to Kauai but we were on our own for figuring out the rest. After much searching and reading reviews of the resort I knew I wanted to stay in the Manualoha units. We couldn't have chosen better. Aloha Sands is, to my view in the best situated unit. Open to a lovely view of water and palm trees and sweeping lawn. SO close to the beach that our four year old didn't even complain about not being carried. And the unit itself is very well equipped, clean, spacious and cheerful with wonderful pastel landscapes on the walls. We will return!

Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous home with us. The townhouse was sparkling clean with plenty of room for our family of 4. Lush, well-kept landscaping, well-equipped kitchen, BBQ right outside the door and just steps from wonderful Poipu Beach. My husband and son especially enjoyed daily play on the excellent tennis courts and the friendly staff. We already miss the smell of the plumeria and listening to the roosters and doves. We just finished a wonderful but too short 9 day stay at Alohasands (Jan/09). In our opinion, the condo is nicer than what the pictures can show. It's beautifully furnished, kitchen has everything and incredible sunset views to top it off. For a family of 4 with two teenagers, this was perfect with excellent fast access to the beach areas. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We have been coming to Kauai for 19 years and this is the best condo we've ever rented. You've thought of everything from kitchen utensils to Q-tips in the bathroom. We love the master bath and shower too! It's a great location for beaches and restaurants which we really appreciated. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Hawaiian home with us. We enjoyed a wonderful week away from the winter snowy weather of Wisconsin. While here, we went to a luau, on a dinner cruise, did snorkeling and scuba diving, went horseback riding, kayaking and hiking as well as many memorable meals out. Location, location, location! All the conveniences so close but the complex is pleasantly quiet and beautifully maintained. This condo is a perfect place to enjoy a Hawaii vacation!! Not only is the kitchen fun to work in, but Ms.Dunbar has thoughtfully stocked it with every small appliance and pan know to man. In addition, this townhome is tastefully furnished so even a rainy day is enjoyably spent inside.
