We had a wonderful time staying at Mitchell View! My husband's mom had just died and my Dad had a bad fall and we really needed some healing time. This beautiful house with its incredible views and many luxuries let us relax and renew. We loved the rocking chairs, mountain stream paths and the hottub most of all. 9 of our family came for a cookout and the house made everyone comfortable. The grandkids were thrilled with the air hockey, WII, bumper pool and electronic dartboard. I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone. The only drawback was the distance to Asheville which is where the kids live, but that may have been magnified by our reluctance to leave our Mountain Home!

We recently returned from a great trip to Black Mountain and stay at Mitchell View. The house is up on a mountain and some curvy steep unpaved roads. It is well worth the drive. The house is spacious and comfortable, the property is beautiful, and we all especially enjoyed the areas to walk down by the creek. The teens and room to spread out and games to play. The adults had a kitchen to cook in and delightful places to read and walk. Had the wind not been up, we would have enjoyed the fire rings as well. The Asheville area is full of wonderful things to do and this visit we went ziplining with Navitat Canopy adventures, which was a joy to say the least. Add this to great hiking, waterfalls, endless good restaurants and events, and I believe we could stay for weeks. But we would still make time to just spend some days at Mitchell's view and enjoy the games, the outdoors, and the camaraderie.

Mitchell View looks wonderful in the pictures, but it is even more amazing in person. The house was roomy, comfortable and clean, and the owners thought of everything to make our visit easy and enjoyable. Our family loved the hot tub, creek, trails, and view from the large deck. You really feel like you are away in a perfect mountain setting when you are there.

Our family stayed at Mitchell View for our spring break vacation. All of us enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all. The cabin was first rate, clean, and well maintained. Our 9 year old loved the creek and trails on the property. Our 26 year old enjoyed the firepit, game tables, and hot tub. We had a very relaxing vacation and the town of Black Mountain was very friendly, with some very good places to eat. Asheville , Montreat, and Mount Mitchell are all a very short drive from the cabin and I promise you will not be bored. Debbie from Lakeland, FL

This is a wonderful cabin. Our view of Mount Mitchell was only brief due to the rainy weather, but it is great place to stay and definitely a place we will visit again. The description of property doesn't do it justice. The cabin was very clean with all the amenties needed for a vacation. We have stayed in many cabins but have never felt as welcomed as we did in this cabin. Mike, great job and again thanks for the bottle of wine -we enjoyed it in front of the 'real' fire! Look forward to seeing you again in the spring.

We did not want to leave! This home was absolutely beautiful and the owners were wonderful. Everything was exactly as described. We have told several friends about this spectacular vacation home. We need to stop. It will get booked up and not available for us to return. :)

We stayed at Mitchell View during peak leaf season and it was everything I had hoped for and more. It's a beautiful home with breathtaking views from every angle. I would love to come back to escape the heat of summer. My son (age 7) walked in and yelled, "This is the best place ever!!". The vacation home boasts views and details that took our stay to a higher level. From the cookware to the linens, the owners thought of everything to make our stay tranquil. The comfortable, rustic decor was exactly what you would hope to find in the mountains. The setting is private yet close to town. I had a great time playing with the board games provided. The air hockey and fire pit made the outdoor experience even more fun. There are 2 separate living areas for company to spread out. A lot of mountain lodges have gas fireplaces, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a real wood-burning fireplace on both floors. The outdoor hot tub was just what I needed after hiking some local trails. I highly recommend Mitchell View. The location and accommodations make this place 5 star!

We stayed there mid/late July and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful and well decorated home. Our 3 boys enjoyed going to the creek daily and walking the trails. The home is very well maintained and has plenty of things for a young family to do. Enjoyed our stay and will stay again in the future with our next NC visit! :)

This home far exceeded our expectations! It's homey feel, soaring ceilings,spectacular views of the mountains If anyone were to ask of a place to stay while in NC I would recommend this place hands down. After a long hike the hot tub was soothing and relaxing and The decor was beautiful

peaceful, with all the amenities! We'll be back if this doesn't make us buy a place first. Mike and Beverly have created an escape with 3 beautifful cabins with excellent hiking, excellent views, a slice of creek, mountain views and hiking for the family, or a romantic getaway for a couple, or a great spot for multiple families. They put a ton of thought into every aspect of each home, my Vermont born wife and my Florida family were equally impressed for proximity, escape, and a full plate of things to do. We'll be back and we wouldn't change anything - our highest compliment as a discriminating family.

February 2011 stay

My wife and I, along with my in-laws and my parents, stayed at Mitchell View during the first week of February 2011. The cabin was beautifully maintained, with all the modern amenities you could possibly need. Needless to say, the views were amazing from every room in the cabin and Mike was a great help with any questions we had. Black Mountain was a beautiful little town, with numerous shops and eateries. I hate driving, but the 30-40 minute drive to Asheville literally seemed like 20 minutes, with the amazing views and laid back lifestyle. I'd recommend this cabin to anyone looking to enjoy a mountain vacation within close proximity to Asheville and a number of other great attractions in NC.

My group of 5 women thoroughly enjoyed spending a weekend in your cabin. It was picture perfect, and the decorated Christmas tree was quite a wonderful surprise. Everything was as described, and better! This Packer fan looks forward to a return visit. Go Pack Go!

Great mountain get away!

We stayed here with another family for the Thanksgiving holiday. The cabin was very spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. The views of Mount Mitchell were amazing. The owners were very friendly. We saw the Biltmore, drove the Blue Ridge Parkway to the top of Mount Mitchell, and explored Chimney Rock which were all very close. The town of Black Mountain was nice as well. We could see ourselves coming back here again. We loved it and highly recommend it!

Great Mountain Getaway

What a beautiful place! The cabin was extremely clean and very well-maintained. There was lots of room and everyone was comfortable. The views from the deck are gorgeous and we really enjoyed sitting out there in the rocking chairs in the morning. The gravel roads up the side of the mountain were a little rough, but well worth the effort to have such a beautiful spot to spend the weekend. Great location for visiting all the attractions in the area and Asheville is close enough to get back and forth from quickly and easily. Any store needed was close by in Black Mountain. We would definitely recommend this vacational rental to friends and would like to come back and stay longer.

My husband and a few of our friends stayed at Mitchell View during the leave change from October 14th-17th, and we absolutely loved it! The cabin was in a perfect location...close enough to the grocery stores, downtown Asheville and the Biltmore, and just far enough away to feel as though you are lost in the mountains. We felt so comfortable during our stay, from the spotless cabin to the breathtaking views. We absolutely plan on visiting again, and hopefully will be able to check out the High Rock Haven! This place will not disappoint!

We stayed at this property for a wonderful getaway with friends. We have done a number of home rentals before (both nationally and internationally), and this property is among the nicest we have stayed in. The property had everything we needed and more.The layout of the house was particularly nice in terms of having sufficient common space as well as privacy for several guests. The house also shows having been well cared for, and the owners were exceptionally responsive to all of our questions.

Jaw-dropping views is accurate

Our 2 families and 3 dogs stayed here in August. We were instantly amazed by the views, the privacy, the quiet! We had with us 2 physically challenged family members, who could do all their activities on the main level, and had to walk up only 3 or 4 steps up from the parking area. The place is very clean and well-maintained, and the listing accurate. We sat in the hot tub and looked at Mt. Mitchell and the stars. The kids' favorites were the trash-talking dart board and the electronic hockey table. Views in a beautiful setting like this require a 2-mile long drive down an interesting gravel road, so be prepared. Bedroom #1 is on the main floor; bedroom #2 is on the ground floor next to the game room.

My husband myself and our 8 yr old daughter stayed at the mitchell cabin July 19th week 2010.Not only was the weather perfect so was the cabin.When we first walked in my husband took a quick tour around the cabin.His first works to me were" I wonder if he will sell this place?" We loved everything about it.It was very clean beautifully decorated and very cozy.We spent every day on the porch just taking in the magnificent view. We got to spend time with the owner Mike and his two very nice children.We did do a few day trips .Dollywood very worth the drive.Also had the best ribs in town.Mike will give you directions. My daughter went mining and has her bag full of treasures. We had lunch in black Mt and ice cream.We did some creative shopping at the hardware store that brings you back 50 years. All in all we had a great vacation and our daughter got in the car to leave with tears streaming down her face.She did not want to leave Black Mt. When we arrived we saw mommy bear and three baby cubs.We will be back with more family members to enjoy the beautiful Mt and wonderful owner and family.

Just stayed at Mitchell View 1st week of October. Only regret is that the leaves were just starting to turn. A few weeks later would have been special. Nice house well taken care of and all the amenities you could have. I would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a nice experience in a mountain environment. We, a family of 5, kids 7-14 had a great week at this place. beautiful views, quiet location. Camp fires down by the creek with sausage sizzles for dinner were very popular. Hot tubes most nights, breakfast on the deck, nice runs morning and night. Lots to do and see - Mount Mitchell, Cherokee reserve, white water rafting, hiking, blue ridge parkway, Biltmore, sliding rock(great fun), Asheville, Hendersonville, rivers, arts and crafts etc. etc. Endless wonderful views and a pace of life even in Asheville at rush hour way below Houston! Owners very pleasant, relaxed and unobtrusive.

We were very impressed with the incredible view, and the house was spotless. We were close enough to the town and Asheville that we could easily enjoy a dinner out, but so private that we felt like we had our own private resort. The kids loved hiking right on the property and played for hours in the creek. Really enjoyed the hottub under the stars after a day trip. Can't wait to come back.

Our weeklong stay at this property had a something for everyone. My father-in-law enjoyed the quiet. My husband and brother-in-law enjoyed the scenic hikes. The girls enjoyed cooking in a fully-equipped kitchen. My sons enjoyed the game room and creek. The Property owners do a great job of being there for their guests. We arrived a bit early and were graciously welcomed. The house was clean. The washer and dryer were a must for our family with kids who get messy. Local towns of Black Mountain and Hendersonville were fun to walk through and shop. Very family-friendly. Chimney Rock Park requires several hours to explore beyond the rock. All in all, we are glad that we chose this property. We like to stay in places that are relaxing and good for families. This fit the bill.
