Heartwood House is a beautiful, hand-crafted, post and beam home, located a short walk from the picturesque village of Eastsound on Orcas Island. The Island Cedar, Alder, and Madrona woods used to build Heartwood create a warm and welcoming feeling as soon as you enter the house. You can relax on the deck or in the great room while enjoying a serene southerly view of Fishing Bay.
Heartwood is an ideal destination for vacations, family reunions, workshops, and retreats. Gather family and friends at this lovely waterview home for memorable vacations and celebrations. The great room features an open floor plan with two wood burning stoves. There’s a high definition plasma flat panel TV and Sony DVD player, high speed wireless internet, a CD player with CD library and I-pod docking speaker system.
The kitchen is an ideal space to create meals with all the appliances and amenities needed to feed a crowd. A natural cedar deck runs around the rear and side of the house and incorporates a Sauna, Hot Tub, and Firepit. We can arrange for your every need - an in-home massage, a chef, or extra housekeeping during your stay. There’s even a high chair, port-a-crib and baby gates available making Heartwood House kid friendly!
We are entering our 15th season and offering bookings from MONDAY-TO-MONDAY, mid-May until mid-September. Ferry travel is easier, and less expensive, when you sail to Orcas, from Anacortes Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Heartwood House is non-smoking and has three bedrooms, two full baths and can sleep uo to 8 adults and a couple of young children.
Our property is a perfect venue for family reunions and wedding party gatherings. If you will be coming with a larger group, we can assist you with finding additional accomodations within walking distance of Heartwood House.
If you will be hosting more guests than those registered, there is an additional use fee of $350 for each week, plus an additional refundable Security Deposit of $300.
We are able to offer onsite service, with tables and chairs, place settings, catering and such, for an additional fee. Please call Gretchen at 360-317-8220 and we can discuss your needs.

Heartwood House has been a vacation destination since 1995. I was enchanted by the unique features when I first saw the house in 1988 and wanted a beautiful, safe community to raise my three children. It's a magical home that calls forth imagination and creativity for all who gather here.

It's an easy walk into Eastsound, the main village on Orcas. You can play on the public beach and when the tide's right, walk out to Indian Island. Young and old get a chance to explore and discover Nature's grace in the tidepools, hiking in Moran State Park and playing at Cascade Lake.
