This home is an absolute delight! We chose it for our family reunion because other large families who stayed here had rated it highly - and we're SO GLAD we did!! There were comfortable beds for everyone, plus a couple of hide-a-beds that we didn't even need to use in this spacious, well-designed home. We loved the gorgeous wood floors and banisters, the original windows from 1925 when the home was built and the completely modern kitchen with EVERYTHING we needed in it. We cooked huge meals on the new 6 burner KitchenAid stove with convection oven. The dishwasher cleaned the many dishes (already available), beautifully. The location is a big plus - we could walk to a local market with fresh, locally produced fruits and vegetables, hike nearby trails, visit the museum of natural history only a few blocks away or walk to the University of Oregon. The neighborhood was very quiet in the hills above the town. We were all very comfortable and so happy to have all we needed for our stay furnished to us - stacks of towels, extra sheet sets, blankets - even sleeping bags and an air mattress we didn't need to use. The owner thought of everything - dish soap, laundry soap, cooking oil, hair dryers, even some spices for cooking! We really can't say enough about this house - you've got to rent it to believe it. 12 of us stayed for 6 days in the middle of winter with several babies, and everyone was warm, snug and content. There were even children's books and toys in the bonus room - and 2 large tv's with dvd players and vcr's - I could go on and on. I truly can't recommend this home highly enough.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

This was a great house for a family reunion. There was lots of room and downstairs offered a great place for the kids to play. The kitchen had everything you needed, the rooms all had very comfy beds and there were plenty of linens and towels for everyone. It was very easy to get to, great location and we felt right at home. Thank you!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This is THE place to stay in Eugene. First the house itself. The pictures absolutely do not do it justice. It is quite spacious, well decorated and all beds and furniture were very comfortable. There has been no detail forgotten in the kitchen. We frequented the best of the local quisine, but, also cooked several meals and enjoyed the beautiful night views from the dinning room windows and french doors. It was even warm enough, yes in January, that we cracked the doors and let some fresh air in as we enjoyed our meal. Second, the lawn and back patio. The entrance from the street is very pleasing with winding walkways, lush green grass and well placed flower beds and bushes. But, the back patio is the best feature of the house to me. There is a covered area to accomodate grilling, eating or just enjoying the outdoors regaurdless of weather. There are stoned terraces rising three levels up the back yard. When you look up all you see is the moss covered trees silouted against the sky. It's beautiful. Were this my house I would live on the patio. As far as the neighborhood is conccerned, you could not be better located. It is very quiet and serene. Very little traffic. Joggers out number cars about 2 to 1. The views of the city are mesmerizing at night. The balcony outside the french doors of the dinning room is the perfect place for viewing in quiet reflection. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Eugene, we in Indianapolis. We actually wound up in this home due to our first choice being unavailable. As they say "sometimes better lucky", due to the good luck of having to make a second choice, this will now always be our first choice for our visits. If you try it you will not be dis appointed. Thanks for a great stay ! PS the owners live near by and are "incredibly" gracious and accomodating beyond the norm.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We would highly recommend the Fairmount House. The home is spacious and clean, perfect for multiple families. The top floor has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. The main floor has another master suite. Plus there are beds and convertible beds on the main and bottom floors. This house comfortably holds a ton of people! The kitchen is beautiful and stocked with all the equipment you might need. As shown in the pictures, there are stairs leading up to the home as well as up to the main living area. Since we don't have stairs at home, our preschooler thought this feature was wonderful! The highlight for us was the terrific owner. She was so accomodating, prompt in her communication and overall just a really lovely person.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at the Fairmount House while visiting family in Eugene over the holidays. We were just looking for enough room to put 8 of us up and planned on visiting with our family at my brother-in-law's place just outside of town. Once we got in, we realized what a wonderful gem of a property we had stumbled onto and convinced my brother-in-law that the Fairmount House should be our home base for the family visit. We cooked up a storm in the gourmet kitchen, took advantage of the beautiful, terraced back yard (we had some unseasonably nice weather), took the bikes out for a ride around the beautiful U of O campus and snuggled up each night in cozy bedrooms. We'll book the Fairmount House every time we come back to town; so much better than any hotel or vacation rental we've tried in Eugene!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
