About the owner: Leslie teaches third graders in nearby Hanover, New Hampshire. She grew up in Texas and has lived in the Upper Valley for close to thirty years. Her mother owned the property in the 1990's and Leslie's children have fond memories of visiting their grandmother and playing in the nearby woods. At that time the Guest House was an art studio. In the late 1990's the property was sold to Leslie's brother and sister-in-law. During their ownership, the studio was turned into a guest house and became known as 'The Launch Pad' as many family members stayed there as they first arrived in the Upper Valley, relocating from points all over the US. Two owners later, Leslie is delighted to have the property in the family once again, and call it 'home'. The most previous owners began the Guest House as it appears now. What Leslie appreciates most about both the main house and the Guest House is that they reflect a quiet beauty that incorporates nature and simplicity.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Dartmouth Guest House is located right in the middle of New England. Being just 6 minutes from Dartmouth College and Hanover, New Hampshire, allows guests the solitude and privacy of a retreat along with all of the conveniences that come from being so close to one of the nicest small towns in America. You will find world-class hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, canoeing, kayaking and countless other out-of-doors sports activities within a short distance of the Guest House. Our guests have expressed what they have found to be some of the benefits of staying at the Dartmouth Guest House. 'A charming, entirely comfortable and a true retreat. I have thoroughly enjoyed coming here each evening. I feel very much “at home” It was such a pleasure to stay in your little tree-house in the woods! Having your lovely retreat to come home to each evening made our visit to the Upper Valley all that more enjoyable and special. After our wedding, the Dartmouth Guest House was an absolutely wonderful place to spend our first night as husband and wife. We've stayed in guest houses and B&Bs all over the world. Yours was one of the coziest and nicest we've experienced. The Dartmouth Guest House was even nicer than in the pictures on your Web site, and it was only 6 minutes from Dartmouth College! Its filled with so much warmth that it made our stay very special. It felt just as you said ”home away from home.” A beautiful job with all the details and hospitality touches - from socks to tea bags.'
