Creig Cottage has the most spectacular views of the Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher and Galway Bay.
Built on a half acre elevated site, it is situated in the heart of the limestone Burren, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Yet for a lively night out, we are just three miles from Doolin, which is famous for its nightly traditional music and fine seafood restaurants, or take a boat across to the Aran Islands or a Cliffs of Moher cruise.
Some of Ireland's most famous attractions are all within easy access - Ailwee Cave, Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Galway and Limerick. Take a day trip to Connemara, Kerry, Ashford Castle or Dromoland Castle.
Beautiful `Blue Flag` long sandy beaches (Fanore and Lahinch), swimming pool, horse riding, fishing, and championship golf courses are all close by.
The cottage is on The Burren Walking Tour, an ideal base for walking and touring through spectacular scenery. Wild goats, badgers, foxes, birds and unique flowers can be seen on this unspoiled barren land. A fascinating area for all Botanists, Ornithologists and Geologists.
Lisdoonvarna or the `spa town` is noted for its sulphur water, and for its `match making festival` on September and afternoon dancing.
Miltown-Malbay hosts the Willie Clancy summer school every July, learn to play a traditional instrument or Irish set-dancing.
Golf Information; A championship world famous golf course of Lahinch is just 20 minutes drive. There is also Doonbeg, Dromoland Castle and Ballybunion all within a 2 hour drive.

Why the Owner Chose Doolin
We built Creig Cottage in the year of 2000. It is located on Martins family land and we needed a holiday home when we visited as we lived in Dublin and our family was growing. So we felt we could no longer take over Martins mums house.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
It is unique in its setting - looking out the windows is an ever changing picture. It is as Ireland should be viewed. Overlooking the ocean and unspoiled.

Busy mother and I also run a Bed and Breakfast in nearby Lisdoonvarna.

Our two families (2 couples plus one 18-year-old, freshly graduated from high school!) stayed in Creig Cottage from June 4th-10th this year (2011). We had been planning our trip for over two years, searching high and low for the perfect cottage on the West coast in which to spend the last week of our two week Northern Ireland & Ireland holiday. After reading all the reviews on the home everywhere we could find them, we chose Creig Cottage and, I have to say, it was the best choice we could have made. It could not have been more perfect in so many ways. It was spotless upon our arrival. It accommodated our party of 5 perfectly with its 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Being on a dead-end, quiet country road was heaven, with the never-ending views of the green pastures & livestock, the Burren, the Aran Islands, Fanore Beach and the descending Cliffs of Moher just absolutely breath-taking (no photographs could ever do the views & location justice). The owners, Martin & Tricia, were so gracious; we met Martin just after our arrival, and had another quick visit with both of them a few days later. How very nice they both were, the perfect host & hostess (thanks for the welcome basket!). Less than 10 minutes away were the lovely villages of Lisdoonvarna and Doolin, which we visited many times. We day-tripped to Inishmoor, the Cliffs of Moher and Galway City during our week at Creig Cottage, but mostly hung around the house drinking in the beautiful views and enjoying lovely fires almost every night. The only bad part of our visit? Having to leave; we wanted to stay forever. We are already tentatively planning a return visit in 2013, if life so allows, and wouldn’t consider another home in which to stay for a week (or longer!). It was definitely over and above our expectations. We saw a lot of the other homes we considered booking and, believe me, Creig Cottage was by far the best. We cannot wait to visit again but, in the meantime, we’ll hold it dear in our hearts and dream of the day we can return...go gcasfar le chéile sinn arís…the Bryant’s (FL) & the Mitchell’s (AL)

My husband and I chose to stay at Creig Cottage while getting married in Ireland, and we could not have picked a better spot. I had high expectations of the house, location and view, and all those were exceeded. I fully expect we will return here in the future.

My wife and I along with our two teenaged daughters stayed here in June and were completely stunned by the most magnificent views we have ever seen! Be sure to stroll the road going north and past the dead-end. It gives the same marvelous scenery along with rolling green pastures and mellow cows. After awhile you can see Fanore Beach from a distance. We enjoyed walking this route as the sun was setting. Patricia and Martin were absolutely gracious hosts. We even stayed an extra night in their comfortable BnB in Lisdoonvarna. Patricia served up a satisfying breakfast that helped carry us back home to the states. My wife and I still talk about our walks and continue to dream of a time of when we can return to Creig Cottage.

We recently ended a week of vacation at Creig Cottage. For our family it was paradise. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, well-stocked with everything a person could use and sits in the most beautiful location. Our family ranged in age from 83 years old to 8 years old--and there was something for everyone. The kids loved feeding the horses who were steps outside the front door, taking walks through the fields and playing in the yard with the many games/sports equipment provided by the owners. My father-in-law enjoyed relaxing with a book from the cottage's library and sitting in the sunroom watching the ocean. For my husband and I, Creig Cottage offered a home away from home with an extensive kitchen, utility room, outdoor grill and many other amenities. It is in an ideal location--minutes from Doolin and Lisdoonvarna, but yet you feel like there is no one else in the world while you are there. We've been to Ireland several times before, but while staying at Creig Cottage we felt like locals. My son did a daily surf camp at Fanore Beach, which is a 10 minute drive from the cottage and we got to know people in the outlying towns. It is also a great location for sightseeing many of the attractions of the west coast. The owners were very thoughtful (leaving a welcome basket for us and making sure we knew we could call them for anything), but yet they did not intrude on our vacation. I can't say enough about our week at Creig Cottage, except I can't wait to go back!

we stayed at the cottage in April and had the best time. the house was perfect - there were 6 of us and there was plenty of room. the views were amazing - seemed someone was always staring out the window trying to take it all in. beautiful view of the aran islands and the cliffs of mohr. we had gorgeous weather (sunny every day) so we were lucky to see specatcular sunsets every night. i can't recommend this house enough. there is no doubt that when we return to ireland that creig cottage will be part of our plans.

Fantastic views and very comfortable accommodations. Pictures on this site undersell the beauty of the location. The owners take good care of their renters. This was our first visit to Ireland and we could not have made a better choice for home base.

Creig Cottage is even better than it looks. We traveled with 2 other couples so there were 6 of us in all, and we were very comfortable. The view is stunning, the neighbors are lovely, the house is charming and Doolin is fantastic! There were horses that came up to the fence every day and we fed them apples and carrots. We saw mountain goats on the cliffs behind the house and a red fox. I read my book with my morning coffee in the sun room every day and watched the sunset in front of a fire in the living room in the evening. It is convenient to many attractions including the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher and you can hear Irish music in the Doolin pubs every night. We will definitely stay here again!!

Our recent stay at Creig Cottage provided us with many beautiful memories of our trip to Ireland. As stated by previous reviewers, the actual views from the cottage windows far surpass any picture on this site. The house was extremely comfortable and accommodated our family perfectly. Our daughter loved the horses that we could see each morning and the sheep that passed by in the evening. It served as a perfect base for our travels across the country and allowed us to feel at home when we returned. The Burren landscape that surrounds the house was rugged but beautiful and the weather added so much to the overall atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish to thank Tricia and Martin for being such great hosts.

We had an extraordinary stay at the cottage during the great freeze of 2009. The owners made certain that we were well taken care of in light of the extraordinary conditions outside. The location and views will take your breath away.
