Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2000

Busy mother and I also run a Bed and Breakfast in nearby Lisdoonvarna.

Why the Owner Chose Doolin

We built Creig Cottage in the year of 2000. It is located on Martins family land and we needed a holiday home when we visited as we lived in Dublin and our family was growing. So we felt we could no longer take over Martins mums house.

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage

It is unique in its setting - looking out the windows is an ever changing picture. It is as Ireland should be viewed. Overlooking the ocean and unspoiled.

    • The view from the cottage is amazing. I have been to Ireland before traveling around staying at different B&B's, but this was by far the best. We stayed the whole week and it was a treat to just come back to this cozy cottage each day and have a fire, watching the sunset. I highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again some day.

    • We stayed there at then end of april into may of 08. This was my third time in Ireland. When we arrived the view alone made me tear up a bit and thats alot for a fourty something year old man. We had three rainbows, cows, horses, goats all around us. I had a converstaion with one cow. It was just outside my bedroom window and we mooded back and forth for twenty minutes. There is a red cat that came to me one night. Jumped into my room, played for awhile and left. Great price as well. More than expected!!!! Get to the Doolin cave. (lots of stairs)I really cant's say enough about this place. Do yourself a favor and stay at this place. Tell the cows I said moo. Feed the gray horse a carrot or two. Be nice to the cat if you see it. Bring a good camera!

    • Creig Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. The remoteness of its surroundings only adds to its natural beauty and distinct charm. We spent a cool, windswept week here in April, and could not have had a better time. The view was our chief pleasure -- a glorious, ever-changing vista ranging from terraced cliffs on one side across the bright gray stone of the burren and down to the beckoning sea sea below. Photographs can only hint at its beauty; I can think of nothing quite comparable. The cottage itself offers a fine accommodation: comfortable furnishings, modern appliances, and more than a few places to curl up with a good book. Between the comforts of the house and the convenience of the walking trails (they literally run past your front door), one could pass a fruitful week here without visiting any other towns. But there is much else to see -- the coast road that winds through Fanore and Ballyvaughn, trad music in Doolin an Kilfenora, the Cliffs of Moher, the storefronts of Lisdoonvarna and Ennistymon ... historic castles, crypts, moats, boats, and bells ... the list goes on and on. Needless to say, we recommend it highly.

    • Views even more beautiful than expected! Cottage is charming and fully equipped. Obey the sign and keep the driveway gates closed, or the cows will walk right down onto the property, lol! (learned this first-hand!). Had great meals at the Lazy Lobster and the Doolin Cafe, enjoyed live music at McDermott's pub! I would love to stay here again, and can highly recommend this cottage! (coffe-maker and washer/dryer left a bit to be desired, but all else was fine). You won't believe the views!

      Homeowner Response:
The coffee-maker is a french press, its simple to use add coffee, pour on hot water, leave four minutes, press down and enjoy!! The washer-drier is small compared to American machines and does not like to be stopped once program has been selected & started - you just have to wait for the program to end.

    • Don't judge this holiday/vacation property by the pictures on the web site. The views are spectacular and the cottage is immaculate and well furnished. What a place!! Highly recommended. Comes with your own mountain goats. Also recommend a day-trip to Galway and its "old town" district; McDermotts pub in Doolin has the best stew, Gus O'Connors the best music and ambiance - the Irish Coffee at the little Doolin coffee and music shop is best in town. The owners were accommodating and have thought of everything including a local mobile phone, food on the table when you get there, etc. Fantastic place.

    • We had the best vacation ever in this beautiful cottage. The views from the house were an awesome panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, Cliffs of Moher & Aran Islands. It was every bit as nice & more than the description. We can highly recommend this rental & will come back again some day. The owners of the cottage were a pleasure to meet & have made their cottage a comfortable & welcoming place.

    • Creig Cottage is probably the best vacation house in all of Ireland! The setting is fantastic--views of the sea, the Aran Islands, the Burren--all from the cottage windows. We could hike for hours just by stepping out the front door. The cottage itself is light-filled and clean, with all the modern amenities. Although it offers the tranquility of a rural setting, its close proximity to Doolin, Enistymon, Lisdoonvarna and Ennis makes shopping convenient. It is also ideal as a jumping off point for several other destinations throughout Ireland. The owners are exceedingly gracious and very eager to see that everything is to your liking--they made sure that we were stocked with all the kitchen basics--eggs, milk, butter and the best Irish brown bread we've ever had. It was hard to leave this little spot of heaven!
