The house had clear views to the sea from multiple rooms. House was designed to maximize the setting, and is very well laid out for a family but elegant and secluded enough for a couple's retreat. We were there with 3 boys, ages 4 to 12, and it was a great location to spend some time on the West Coast. We enjoyed a boat ride to the Cliffs of Moher, eating and visiting shops in Doolin and walking along the beach and on the rocks - all within 20 minute drive.

My wife and I spent the last three weeks of October 2011 at Creig Cottage. The weather for the first two days was challenging...gale force winds and fog. Yet even that had a primitive beauty. On the third day we got our first look at the stunning views. No words can describe the panoramic views of the Cliffs of Moher, the Atlantic Oean, The Aran Islands, and Galway Bay, all visible from one room. The cottage was clean, attractive and cozy. The owners were friendly helpful and there when you needed them but not intrusive. We loved our day trips to Galway, our Burren walks and we will cherish the times when we were delayed from getting where we were going because a bull or a herd of cows blocked the single lane road into town. The pubs in town had great food and great music. A real treat was when locals would come into the music sessions and lend their voices. This is a vacation to beat all vacations.

Our two families (2 couples plus one 18-year-old, freshly graduated from high school!) stayed in Creig Cottage from June 4th-10th this year (2011). We had been planning our trip for over two years, searching high and low for the perfect cottage on the West coast in which to spend the last week of our two week Northern Ireland & Ireland holiday. After reading all the reviews on the home everywhere we could find them, we chose Creig Cottage and, I have to say, it was the best choice we could have made. It could not have been more perfect in so many ways. It was spotless upon our arrival. It accommodated our party of 5 perfectly with its 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Being on a dead-end, quiet country road was heaven, with the never-ending views of the green pastures & livestock, the Burren, the Aran Islands, Fanore Beach and the descending Cliffs of Moher just absolutely breath-taking (no photographs could ever do the views & location justice). The owners, Martin & Tricia, were so gracious; we met Martin just after our arrival, and had another quick visit with both of them a few days later. How very nice they both were, the perfect host & hostess (thanks for the welcome basket!). Less than 10 minutes away were the lovely villages of Lisdoonvarna and Doolin, which we visited many times. We day-tripped to Inishmoor, the Cliffs of Moher and Galway City during our week at Creig Cottage, but mostly hung around the house drinking in the beautiful views and enjoying lovely fires almost every night. The only bad part of our visit? Having to leave; we wanted to stay forever. We are already tentatively planning a return visit in 2013, if life so allows, and wouldn’t consider another home in which to stay for a week (or longer!). It was definitely over and above our expectations. We saw a lot of the other homes we considered booking and, believe me, Creig Cottage was by far the best. We cannot wait to visit again but, in the meantime, we’ll hold it dear in our hearts and dream of the day we can return...go gcasfar le chéile sinn arís…the Bryant’s (FL) & the Mitchell’s (AL)

My husband and I chose to stay at Creig Cottage while getting married in Ireland, and we could not have picked a better spot. I had high expectations of the house, location and view, and all those were exceeded. I fully expect we will return here in the future.

We recently ended a week of vacation at Creig Cottage. For our family it was paradise. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, well-stocked with everything a person could use and sits in the most beautiful location. Our family ranged in age from 83 years old to 8 years old--and there was something for everyone. The kids loved feeding the horses who were steps outside the front door, taking walks through the fields and playing in the yard with the many games/sports equipment provided by the owners. My father-in-law enjoyed relaxing with a book from the cottage's library and sitting in the sunroom watching the ocean. For my husband and I, Creig Cottage offered a home away from home with an extensive kitchen, utility room, outdoor grill and many other amenities. It is in an ideal location--minutes from Doolin and Lisdoonvarna, but yet you feel like there is no one else in the world while you are there. We've been to Ireland several times before, but while staying at Creig Cottage we felt like locals. My son did a daily surf camp at Fanore Beach, which is a 10 minute drive from the cottage and we got to know people in the outlying towns. It is also a great location for sightseeing many of the attractions of the west coast. The owners were very thoughtful (leaving a welcome basket for us and making sure we knew we could call them for anything), but yet they did not intrude on our vacation. I can't say enough about our week at Creig Cottage, except I can't wait to go back!

My wife and I along with our two teenaged daughters stayed here in June and were completely stunned by the most magnificent views we have ever seen! Be sure to stroll the road going north and past the dead-end. It gives the same marvelous scenery along with rolling green pastures and mellow cows. After awhile you can see Fanore Beach from a distance. We enjoyed walking this route as the sun was setting. Patricia and Martin were absolutely gracious hosts. We even stayed an extra night in their comfortable BnB in Lisdoonvarna. Patricia served up a satisfying breakfast that helped carry us back home to the states. My wife and I still talk about our walks and continue to dream of a time of when we can return to Creig Cottage.

Fantastic views and very comfortable accommodations. Pictures on this site undersell the beauty of the location. The owners take good care of their renters. This was our first visit to Ireland and we could not have made a better choice for home base.

Creig Cottage is even better than it looks. We traveled with 2 other couples so there were 6 of us in all, and we were very comfortable. The view is stunning, the neighbors are lovely, the house is charming and Doolin is fantastic! There were horses that came up to the fence every day and we fed them apples and carrots. We saw mountain goats on the cliffs behind the house and a red fox. I read my book with my morning coffee in the sun room every day and watched the sunset in front of a fire in the living room in the evening. It is convenient to many attractions including the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher and you can hear Irish music in the Doolin pubs every night. We will definitely stay here again!!

we stayed at the cottage in April and had the best time. the house was perfect - there were 6 of us and there was plenty of room. the views were amazing - seemed someone was always staring out the window trying to take it all in. beautiful view of the aran islands and the cliffs of mohr. we had gorgeous weather (sunny every day) so we were lucky to see specatcular sunsets every night. i can't recommend this house enough. there is no doubt that when we return to ireland that creig cottage will be part of our plans.

Our recent stay at Creig Cottage provided us with many beautiful memories of our trip to Ireland. As stated by previous reviewers, the actual views from the cottage windows far surpass any picture on this site. The house was extremely comfortable and accommodated our family perfectly. Our daughter loved the horses that we could see each morning and the sheep that passed by in the evening. It served as a perfect base for our travels across the country and allowed us to feel at home when we returned. The Burren landscape that surrounds the house was rugged but beautiful and the weather added so much to the overall atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish to thank Tricia and Martin for being such great hosts.

We had an extraordinary stay at the cottage during the great freeze of 2009. The owners made certain that we were well taken care of in light of the extraordinary conditions outside. The location and views will take your breath away.

Completely fulfills on item on our "bucket list" - returning to Ireland (after 30 years) and staying in a cottage near by the sea. However now I will be putting this charming cottage back on the list!

The view from the cottage is amazing. I have been to Ireland before traveling around staying at different B&B's, but this was by far the best. We stayed the whole week and it was a treat to just come back to this cozy cottage each day and have a fire, watching the sunset. I highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again some day.

We stayed there at then end of april into may of 08. This was my third time in Ireland. When we arrived the view alone made me tear up a bit and thats alot for a fourty something year old man. We had three rainbows, cows, horses, goats all around us. I had a converstaion with one cow. It was just outside my bedroom window and we mooded back and forth for twenty minutes. There is a red cat that came to me one night. Jumped into my room, played for awhile and left. Great price as well. More than expected!!!! Get to the Doolin cave. (lots of stairs)I really cant's say enough about this place. Do yourself a favor and stay at this place. Tell the cows I said moo. Feed the gray horse a carrot or two. Be nice to the cat if you see it. Bring a good camera!

Creig Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. The remoteness of its surroundings only adds to its natural beauty and distinct charm. We spent a cool, windswept week here in April, and could not have had a better time. The view was our chief pleasure -- a glorious, ever-changing vista ranging from terraced cliffs on one side across the bright gray stone of the burren and down to the beckoning sea sea below. Photographs can only hint at its beauty; I can think of nothing quite comparable. The cottage itself offers a fine accommodation: comfortable furnishings, modern appliances, and more than a few places to curl up with a good book. Between the comforts of the house and the convenience of the walking trails (they literally run past your front door), one could pass a fruitful week here without visiting any other towns. But there is much else to see -- the coast road that winds through Fanore and Ballyvaughn, trad music in Doolin an Kilfenora, the Cliffs of Moher, the storefronts of Lisdoonvarna and Ennistymon ... historic castles, crypts, moats, boats, and bells ... the list goes on and on. Needless to say, we recommend it highly.

Views even more beautiful than expected! Cottage is charming and fully equipped. Obey the sign and keep the driveway gates closed, or the cows will walk right down onto the property, lol! (learned this first-hand!). Had great meals at the Lazy Lobster and the Doolin Cafe, enjoyed live music at McDermott's pub! I would love to stay here again, and can highly recommend this cottage! (coffe-maker and washer/dryer left a bit to be desired, but all else was fine). You won't believe the views!
Owner response:The coffee-maker is a french press, its simple to use add coffee, pour on hot water, leave four minutes, press down and enjoy!! The washer-drier is small compared to American machines and does not like to be stopped once program has been selected & started - you just have to wait for the program to end.

Don't judge this holiday/vacation property by the pictures on the web site. The views are spectacular and the cottage is immaculate and well furnished. What a place!! Highly recommended. Comes with your own mountain goats. Also recommend a day-trip to Galway and its "old town" district; McDermotts pub in Doolin has the best stew, Gus O'Connors the best music and ambiance - the Irish Coffee at the little Doolin coffee and music shop is best in town. The owners were accommodating and have thought of everything including a local mobile phone, food on the table when you get there, etc. Fantastic place.

We had the best vacation ever in this beautiful cottage. The views from the house were an awesome panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, Cliffs of Moher & Aran Islands. It was every bit as nice & more than the description. We can highly recommend this rental & will come back again some day. The owners of the cottage were a pleasure to meet & have made their cottage a comfortable & welcoming place.

Creig Cottage is probably the best vacation house in all of Ireland! The setting is fantastic--views of the sea, the Aran Islands, the Burren--all from the cottage windows. We could hike for hours just by stepping out the front door. The cottage itself is light-filled and clean, with all the modern amenities. Although it offers the tranquility of a rural setting, its close proximity to Doolin, Enistymon, Lisdoonvarna and Ennis makes shopping convenient. It is also ideal as a jumping off point for several other destinations throughout Ireland. The owners are exceedingly gracious and very eager to see that everything is to your liking--they made sure that we were stocked with all the kitchen basics--eggs, milk, butter and the best Irish brown bread we've ever had. It was hard to leave this little spot of heaven!
