Just a quick update to the previous review. The owner did end up replying promply after they returned to the island and thanks to her and a very curtious cleaning staff everything was returned promptly and in good order. So overall then no negative comments at all! Definetely a place I would recommend anyone to stay at!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

So i will say that the accomodations were fantastic here, wonderful location within walking distance to multiple nice beaches. Convenience store right across the street too for some meals in if you so choose. However, these advertise beach chairs, coolers, and umbrellas at the house of which we found none, so we ended up spending extra money on that which we didn't think we had too. Roof top pool was nice, but hot tub would have been better as we only used it at night when it was a bit to chilly with the wind. #1 issue: contacting people afterwards to get our stuff back!! Sure it was our fault we left some things at the house, but it's very dissapointing there has been no response from them after 4 days now! I call and email every day.... very frustrating. For this reason alone I may not go back as there are plenty of places on the island to stay with this calibur of facility. Owner, if you read this respond to my emails and phone calls please!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Topaz 1 was spectacular and we enjoyed every minute of our stay there. The location is great and the house is beautiful, spacious and spotless. We were three couples and we all felt that we had privacy when needed. The upper deck is ideal for happy hour and watching the sun set. All in all, a lovely villa in a lovely place.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We loved it and highly recommend! Great location, easy flat walk to the beach and just beautiful inside. We also enjoyed having our own pool. The guard and gate were very comforting as well and easy in-out as we had a rental car. There are groceries and good food right across the street. Their communication was excellent, we hope to return.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

For my 40th birthday and 3rd wedding anniversary,my husband rented this fantastic house! The pictures don't come close to how well appointed the house is! We had multiple couples come down during or stay and everyone agreed we must come back here every year. Dale and John were attentive to our needs and made our stay a joy. We now have some incredible memories, and can't wait to return next year! Well worth every penny.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We stayed at Topaz 1 from April 21-28, 2012. This was our second stay at Topaz 1, and we will be returning again! We had a wonderful week. The house could not be more comfortable, and the location is perfect--right in the middle of the island. We appreciated the help in making dinner reservations at our favorite restaurants. While only two of us traveled this time, the house is perfect for a family or several couples who want to vacation together. Enjoy!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My family recently stayed in Topaz 1 in early January 2012. The listing was entirely accurate, the photos were certainly reflective and appropriate. We had a snafu with the elevator when we first arrived, but the immediate issue was addressed within 30 minutes of our arrival. I think what stood out most to us was the overall convenience and ease of the trip. The airport is a very quick drive from the villa, the grocery store and restaurants across the street made it easy to quickly stock the villa with breakfast/lunch/snacks, and take advantage of convenient dining within walking distance. The immediate property has a 24/7 security guard with additional safety measures at night, but my friend and I ran in the surrounding area in the early mornings and never felt anything but safe. As far as day trips, Dale acted as our concierge and very graciously recommended (and booked for us) two day trips that were ABSOLUTELY fantastic. We did a full day boat trip to surrounding areas (lunch at Pinel is a MUST for anyone) and rented a beach front cabana at the La Samanna resort (an Orient Express property), very nice, and also very convenient to the villa. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hi Kelly, It's great to hear from you and even better to know that you enjoyed your vacation with us. The boat captain called me to be sure you had a good day - I'll be sure to let him know! Hope to see you here again - soon! Thanks again, Dale

Sorry for the delay in posting this review Dale but I did truly want to extend a warm thank you for all you did for my wife and I. To all, everything you see and read about Topaz 1 is greatly exceeded by reality as pictures and words cannot do it justice. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Topaz1 over Valentines Day. What an incredible experience. If you enjoy the finest of accommodations, all necessary accoutrements, spectacular sunsets and a villa that lacks for nothing, then this is the place to stay. Dale was most accommodating with all arrangements including our requested DVD selections. Happily we did not have an opportunity to watch the first one and we were glad of it. Sitting on the rooftop deck, overlooking the pool and ocean watching the sun go down with a cool beverage in hand with the one you love on Valentines Day. How could you possibly top that. Certainly our best experience in 35 years. Thanks again Dale for making special memories possible.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hi CW, I am so glad to hear that you had such a great time at Topaz 1 ! Thank you for your comments. Please don't forget to keep in touch and remember to check with me for some great 'last minute' deals !! And by the way, I am now representing a few other really fantastic vacation spots in the same Cupecoy area plus have made arrangements with several of the local business people to offer exclusive amenities and activities to our guests. Now you can arrive by water taxi; reserve a private beach cabana; arrange island hopping boat excursions and much more! Please come back and see us! Dale

Amazing relaxing vacation at TOPAZ 1!
Amazing relaxing vacation at TOPAZ 1!

I spent 5 nights in Topaz 1 at the end of May with my family for my medical school graduation from AUC. This villa surpassed all of our expectations. From the 24 hour gated security, to the rooftop pool, this villa was simply a joy to spend a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of hotels. Each of the bedrooms had very comfortable king size beds, rainforest showers, and LCD TV's with DVD players. In addition, the rooms each have access to personal outdoor balconies. The kitchen came nicely stocked with all the necessary pots, pans, utensils, and small appliances that one would need for a vacation in the caribbean- including the BBQ grill on the patio. The living room area has a large plasma TV with Bose surround sound hooked up to watch movies or listen to music-the sound was simply amazing. Although the unit does have an elevator, it was being fixed while I was there, so I am unable to comment on that, but thankfully we were all able to use the stairs without any problems. The 4th floor has a master bedroom and the pool deck area. This is where we spent most of our time swimming and laying in the sun. There was also an outdoor fridge and ice maker to keep the coronas cold, which was a nice thing to have up there. The location could not have been any better- it's located right on Cupecoy beach and across the street from the new Porto Cupecoy village which has a coffee/ice cream shop and a great supermarket. We had a rental car, and there is plenty of space to park either in front or behind the unit. Dale was a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to stay at Topaz 1 again if I have free time during my residency. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hi Ryan, I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay! Thanks for letting me know. Congratulations on your graduation and we certainly hope you'll find the time to visit us again!

This private villa exceeded all of our expectations. It is in a great location with easy access to beaches, great restaurants, casinos, and nightlife. Porto Cupecoy is an easy 5 minute walk and has restaurants and a gourmet grocery store. And, the villa is centrally located between Grand Case and Phillipsburg. Owners Dale and John are wonderful hosts. They were extremely accommodating when we had last minute changes in our travel plans and provided great recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to see. In addition, they have thought of everything a person might need when visiting St. Maarten. The home is very spacious, modern, extremely clean, and has a ton of amenities. The daily housekeeping service was really helpful and always made sure we had clean linens. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, great closet space, air conditioning, flat screen TV, and a comfy king size bed. The kitchen is well equipped with all upgraded appliances and is stocked for home cooking. (There is even a BBQ) The living room is spacious and has a great home entertainment system in the off chance you want to watch tv/movie or listen to music. Also included is wifi that is accessible throughout the house and at the pool. We found our favorite part of the villa was the private rooftop pool overlooking the Caribbean ocean. It was so relaxing to not have to pack gear and lunches and head to the beach each day. (Although, everything you might need for a day at the beach is provided in the house.) We chose to spend most of our days lying in the sun by the pool and watching boats as they sailed up and down the coast. (What a relaxing way to spend a vacation!) Security was of the upmost importance to us as we travel with a variety of electronics. We never once worried about their safety while at the villa as the home is very secure. There are safe’s provided in each closet, but we didn’t feel the need to use them. There is 24 hour onsite security which was very welcoming and knew us by name. This is truly a great vacation retreat!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.
