Blossom Mountain Retreat

This cozy retreat has a remote quality but is actually only three miles from I-90. You can be downtown Spokane in less than thirty minutes and Coeur d'Alene in fifteen minutes. The Centennial Trail that runs from Spokane to Coeur d'Alene, fun for running or biking is less than ten minutes away. The Spokane River Park with boat launch and swimming is less than three miles away. Scenic day trips and activities make this cabin a perfect and peaceful place to stay.
There are three bedrooms, all with new queen beds and down comforters. One bedroom is on the main floor, one in the daylight basement (master bedroom) and one in the loft (my favorite).
The open living room/kitchen area has bamboo floors and outstanding views. A Viking Range and KitchenAid stand mixer may entice you to cook. If you prefer to dine out there are two or three now famous restaurants in Post Falls, minutes down the hill as well as several great places to eat in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane.
There are two bathrooms. The bath on the main floor has an antique clawfoot tub and the other bath, downstairs, has a new tile shower.
Two gas fireplaces will keep you toasty warm on cool evenings, and a window A/C unit will cool the house if the days get too warm, which happens only a few days a year.
We have decorated the cabin with comfortable furniture, hoping you will want to keep coming back.
The view from the cedar deck is breathtaking and at any time you may see moose, elk or deer wandering by the front of the house. A birdwatcher's delight, there are Stellar Jays, Juncos, Chickadees, Robins, Woodpeckers...birds than I can list and even the occasional Bald Eagle!
Due to the massive rock wall and open loft area, this cabin may not be suitable for young children.
The half mile driveway is gravel and steep in places but well maintained in the summer.
This was our primary residence for thirty years and still our little slice of heaven. We hope you will enjoy the same peace on the mountain as we do.
PLEASE NOTE: In the guest comment section a hot tub is mentioned. The hot tub is no longer available....it was 20 years old and finally stopped working. Because of liability and upkeep we have opted against replacing it. We hope this does not stop you from visiting our peaceful retreat.

We were looking for somewhere to stay for a family trip to do Ironman CDA. We had 6 adults and an 18 month old. The cabin was a perfect get-away from the hustle and bustle. It was at the top of a mountain and the end of the road. About all we saw were the wild turkey's and deer early in the morning. The views from the deck were awesome. The owner was super nice and accomodating. Although we were secluded it was a short 15-20 minute drive to downtown CDA for the race. Next time we go back this is where we will stay!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We could hardly believe how wonderful the "cabin" and property looked in the photos, but it was all real. In fact, better than the photos. We were secluded for privacy but had a view that went forever. Inside were all the comforts of home, being upscale while matintaining a rustic atmosphere. Even a claw-foot tub in one of the bathrooms. We were close enough to town to eat out but also barbecued on the upper deck. And since our trip lasted 21 days, it was such a treat to have full laundry facilities. The owners were such gracious hosts, and we plan to go back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a wonderful surprise when we opened the door to this amazing cabin! The house is very spacious, feels cozy, and has every convenience to make you feel pampered. The outdoors is beautiful, with a wonderful view, large deck, and fire pit area. We enjoyed staying here so much, especially the indoor swing, and would love to return next summer! Thanks for all the special touches throughout the home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review. We have just closed the cabin for the winter, after a second season of great guests like you. So glad you enjoyed yourselves and we will welcome you back anytime!

Everything about our experience at Blossom Mountain was top rate. Starting with professional and speedy communication with Frankie and clear check-in instructions, to the immaculate condition of the home upon arrival, to the many amenities she provides, we felt more than welcome...we were pampered!! I rent 4 luxury vacation homes at the Oregon Coast, so I am particular! This home is furnished with comfortable mattresses, high-end linens, top of the line kitchen appliances, comfortable couches, and wonderful soap supplies. It doesn't end there however. My 4 children were enamored by the indoor swing, the fire pit complete with s'mores kit, the endless yard to run off energy, the hammock, and the red wagon. Not far down the road my son and husband discovered a great lake for fishing too. If only we lived closer, we would have made return reservations already!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Wow! Thank you so much for the awesome review!! Knowing you have vacation rentals of your own means you understand how much the homes we rent out mean to us, the owners. We are so appreciative when a family treats our cabin with the respect that you and your family did, and thank you for the great compliments! When we were putting the place together we chose only the furnishings that we would want for ourselves and it is nice to hear you enjoyed the special touches. You are welcome back anytime!!

Restful and quiet, got quite warm in the near 100 degrees. Bring extra fans. But so well equipped and comfortable! Thank you so much for the vacation we needed. You were so accommodating!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind review, Carri. You are so right about the hot spell! One thing that keeps the cabin cool is to close the blinds and windows during the heat of the day. Other guests have followed this recommendation on the hottest days when the A/C unit can barely keep up. Thank goodness we don't have many of those days! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and once again, congratulations to the bride and groom.

If VRBO would allow me to give any more than 5 stars, this cabin is WORTHY of additional stars! The owners of this home didn't miss a thing when preparing the cabin for a vacation getaway! It cannot be easy to master the art of balancing the elements of a charming rustic cabin, state of the art technology, REAL nature, every comfort of home with minimalist simplicity ... but they did it, and well. Just a few highlights: - this is a TRUE retreat, when you arrive, the beauty, quiet and calm is surreal. - the cabin is lovely, the craftsmanship of the log cabin is really something - the amenities are abundant, you will arrive and find that they've provided EVERYTHING you might need while you are there - the hospitality is top notch (Frankie left us freshly-baked scones and the makings for s'mores) - Indoor swing, outdoor hammock, fire pit (i could have started and stopped with just that, right?) - convenience, the cabin is conveniently located between spokane and coeur d'alene - LOTS of great things to see and do nearby. ok - you get the point... this is an exceptional find. if you are looking to getaway to a peaceful nature retreat without "roughing it"... this is the place!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Kari, thank you so much for the great review and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. You were awesome guests and treated the cabin like your own home, with respect for our property. Thank you for leaving it so nice and clean. You and your family are welcome back any time!

This cabin was a great summer getaway. It was wonderful waking up in the morning amid the mountaintops with the smell of pine trees. Great for hikes around the cabin. The view was excellent and the accommodations were perfect. We had all our meals at the cabin instead of going to restaurants. We came for a wedding so we did not do any local attractions. The outdoors surrounding the cabin was perfect entertainment for us while visiting family and friends. Would recommend this cabin to everyone!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Ashleigh! Congratulations to you and your new husband and I hope you can come back and enjoy the cabin yourselves. I'm glad your guests had a great time at the cabin and thank you for the kind words.

It doesn't get any more perfect. Gorgeous home, beautiful view, peaceful property. There are wild turkeys and a gorgeous buck that bed down on the property. The house is close to everything! I hope to be back soon, and recommend this property as long as you plan on falling in love with this home, like we did. ;) Thank you Frankie and Brian your home is perfect!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank for for the kind words Tiffany and for leaving the cabin so nice and neat. We are glad you had a good time and saw one of the big bucks. Maybe next time you will see the moose who sometimes sleeps by the hammock. We hope you can come back soon with your friends or family. PS I am still bragging about the smoked salmon!

Year Purchased: 1980
About the owner: We built this log home, beginning in 1980, with the help of family and friends. This was our permanent residence until last year. Our wish is to keep the furnishings simple but at the same time warm and inviting. We hope others get the opportunity to see why we love our mountain home and visit us often.
Why the Owner Chose Post Falls:
We moved here from Oregon in 1980 to live in beautiful North Idaho and haven't had even a moment's regret.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Bird and wildlife watching, hiking and dirt biking over miles of old logging roads. Solitude and silent nights. Star filled sky for nighttime deck sitting, prefect for a glass of wine and good conversation. Lots of DVDs and games for your entertainment.
