Known locally as the lookout, this privately located property offers exceptional views from its raised setting overlooking Straight Bay. There is easy access to the shore using the steps that lead down to the water. Tie up your motorized boat, kayak, or canoe right in front of the house. Dozens of uninhabited islands to explore. It is not unusual to see scores of seals and their babies sunning themselves on the rocks. Eagles, deer, loons, ducks, and even puffins are common visitors of the bay. A beautiful setting with all the comforts of home. There is great whale watching in the Passamaquaddy bay. About a dozen different types might be seen. Several whale watching boats take tourist out to view them on a daily basis. This area is part of the Bay of Fundy. Tides rise and fall about 20 feet twice each day. The cottage is in a protected area and the water rises and falls predictably and quietly. Great clam digging when the tide is out. The water is clear and blue-green. Deep water allows boat access any time.

Owner info
About the owner: We discovered Lubec in 1995 and have never stopped coming back. I firmly believe that it is Maine's best kept secret. Many folks come up here and decide to stay. The air is good. It is not crowded. Good fishing. Cheap lobsters. The most beautiful unspoiled coastline in America. When we come up here, any stress we have in our lived disappears.
Why the Owner Chose Lubec:
We purchased the property on cofins neck because we were awed by the view and the privacy the cottage offered. It was like being in the north Maine woods with the ocean in front of our cabin. My wife also liked it because the house offered all the comforts of home. I get excited every time we come up to Lubec. We love the coffins neck cottage. So much we built another house up here just down the road. The real estate market is so-so right now. For the time being we rent this cottage.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Lubec is a great place. It offers all the classic down east charm you would expect. The people are friendly and helpful. The lubec Library offers free internet. Several great restaurants in town. Yes, two of them were opened up by people who came up this way and decided to stay. The old Lubec waterfront is coming back to life.
