Great Stay at Pete's Place

We enjoyed the extra room a house gives you over a hotel (we were 2 adults 2 children), access to a washer and dryer after a week in CR, the ability to walk to the grocery store, ATM, and various restaurants. We did not have a car and it was not a problem. Tours pick you up at the house and just 'Pete's Place' is all the info they need. Kitchen and furnishings were sufficient, coffee and a few other staples kindly provided in the fridge. Mountain view porch extremely pleasant all times of day. Walls not extending to ceiling not an issue for us at all. Made it seem very tropical. House is not luxurious. It is fairly basic but extremely comfortable for a family and very conveniently located. I'm not usually a big air conditioning fan but it was *most* appreciated in the CR heat. Pool was definately the best part. It is 3 ft.+ deep at the shallow end so if you have small children, it might be an issue. Wonderful for 7-8 yo kids/adults and super warm. Sloths, toucans, etc. visited the pool, making it extra special. Pete met us at the front gate when we arrived, showed us all we needed. Itza made all tour arrangements, which was fantastic. After morning tours, returned to house around 2:00 and had PB sandwiches by the pool and kids swam for hours. Kids were happy so we were happy. Very, very enjoyable.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words, we try to keep everyone happy and try to ensure their vacation is as good as possible. It was a pleasure meeting you guys and I do hope to see you again one da. Cheers Pete

Pete's Place was an awesome place to stay for Spring Break. We are 2 adults and one teenager and it was perfect. Everyone was so nice and willing to help with whatever. Pete was around if we needed, but was not all over us. Itza took care of all our tours and transportation and did a great job. My wife says that she also gives a great massage on the beach! This is not a resort, but if you want to ride the bus, eat and hang out with the locals, I highly recommend it. The pool is really awesome. After a day full of adventures, come home and jump in a huge, private pool set in the jungle. That's what I'm talking about! Thanks Pete and Itza!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Billy, it was a pleasure having you and your family stay at Pete's. I wish you all well and hope to see again some day. Again thanks for your kind review, it's always nice to know that our guests enjoyed themselves. Pete

I arrived at Pete's place with 5 others, a mixture of friends and relatives. The driver that Itza arranged to pick us up at the airport in San Jose was very accommodating and stopped along the way at different points of interest. We even stopped at a fruit stand and bought pineapple, mangos, and watermelon. The vendor showed us the fruit of the cashew tree which we sampled. Definitely an aquired taste. He also stopped at a large super market so we could get supplies. Pete's place was perfect for our group. We enjoyed our coffe every morning on the deck overlooking the mountains. The pool was delightful. The place was clean thanks to Alicia who came by every other day. Itza arranged our tours for us and they were the best. The house was very central to everything we needed. The bus stop was 5 minutes away and we used it often. Fifty cents got you to where ever you wanted to go and it came frequently. The small convenience store was also within a short walking distance and the ATM just beyond that. We found a wonderful restaurant across the street that we liked so much we ate there twice. All in all it was a wonderful experience. Thank-you Pete and Itza for making our vacation a wonderful experience. Linda Wright Burlington VTDid you find this review helpful? Highlights were the tours that Itza arranged for us. Manuel Antonio National Park Mangroves at night!! Sunset Sail Zipline ( Canopy) Butterfly Farm Cafe Milagro was the best for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the Canopy restaurant at Villas Lirio ( across the street!!) The pool made our holiday!! We enjoyed the dogs company when they decided to visit us. Love the coffee. The last night we had dinner at Victoria's Restaurant, it was superb and the music was great. Pete's Place is fabulous. We had an amazing time. Pete and Itza were great hosts. Itza scheduled our transportation and tours and all went smoothly. The house is very comfortable and the pool is the best. We saw three Toucans and lots of monkeys by the pool! We loved the canopy tour. It was a pleasure to wake up and be greeted by the dogs Sasha, Moose and Max. Thanks Peter and Itza We will be back!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Me, my two sisters, mom, and two aunts (a girl's vacation) spent 4 wonderful nights and 5 days at Pete's Place. We had an amazing time! Pete's place is large, extremely comfortable, very clean, and in an amazing location (between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, in walking distance to the supermarket and many excellent restaurants). The space was perfect for our group and we were very excited to have air conditioning in all rooms and HOT WATER. We enjoyed waking up and sitting on the side deck with our coffee (from Cafe Milagro) and fresh fruit (definitely buy some from some of the vendors off the road on the way to Quepos/Manuel Antonio). The view from the side deck is breathtaking with the view of the mountains. The kitchen and living space are very comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our own food, making blended drinks, and sitting on the decks in the afternoon and evenings. The pool is absolutely amazing!!!! We saw numerous monkeys and Toucans while sunning by the pool. Itza was amazing at setting up our canopy safari tour (so fun) and reserving chairs for us at the less rowdy end of the public beach. She also told us the best days/times to go to the National Park in Manuel Antonion where we also saw a TON of monkeys. She was also very helpful in telling us where to eat and how much to offer taxi drivers, etc. Pete and Itza gave us our privacy but were so accomodating when we had questions. The dogs (Max, Moose, and Sasha) were very friendly and we enjoyed lounging with them on the decks. Pete also has a new grill on the side deck. We didn't use it but it looks like it would have been great to grill some fish or steaks on. Alicia (the housekeeper) came to clean while we were there and she did an amazing job. She left fresh flowers after cleaning and stayed out of our way while getting everything done. She was so sweet. We absolutely will be back to Quepos/Manuel Antonion and would love to stay at Pete's Place again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Spent three weeks in Costa Rica and our 5 night stay at Pete's place was certainly enjoyable. The accommodation certainly met our expectations and for a family of five was great - have a separate parent's room and bathroom certainly helped. The convenience of Pete's place was great perched equally between Quepos and Manuel Antonio and having our own car made whatever we wanted to do easy. The advice of Itza and Pete was invaluable and we certainly partaked in both the sugesstions and the massages ! Our children simply loved the pool and we were able to see monkey, Macaw and Toucan (very lucky) whilst swimming. The house is not a walk to the beach but transport is available. The jungle views were certainly better than the water views and we very much enjoyed a quiet drink on the deck overlooking the jungle after the kids were in bed. Kitchen could have been better equipped but we had sufficient to make do as we cooked most of our meals. The house did advertise a BBQ and being from Australia forms part of our cooking and the BBQ available was not functioning, Manuel Antonio and Pete's place was a great experience for us and we certainly would consider staying at Pete's place again.Owner response: It was a pleasure having you guys stay at the house, and thank you for the tips about A) The BBQ-- It has been replaced with a brand new large BBQ with side burner as well. B) All the pots and frying pans in the kitchen have been replaced and the kitchen is now fully up to date. It is thanks to people like yourselves that make us love this business, meeting people and families, and seeing their joy at seeing a monkey or a toucan and more. Thank you so much for visiting us, and we hope to see you all again some day. We hope your continuing vacation is going well. Thanks for the helpful suggestions, without client feed back ( good and bad) we would not be aware of waht needs fixing or up grading. Cheers Peter @ Itza

A huge disappointment

Congratulations to the person who took the pictures of the house : it makes the place look like it's luxury while it's not : hugely deceptive is what comes to my mind. Even though the house is well maintained and almost equipped as described, you have to be aware of several facts. First, the house is one big room with only partitions to separate the living room from the bathroom and the bedrooms, so do not expect any privacy. And the house is quite old, not as bright and fresh as the pictures make it look like. You will share the property with the owner, its dogs and any other guests as your balcony will face the 2 other houses located on the property. As for the swimming pool, you won't see it right away : you have to make a long walk down to a very steep hill (very slippery when it rains) to find it. The only good point : the owner provided good customer service. However, the disappointment was so huge that I stayed only long enough (only one night) to find another place to spend the remaining of my vacations. If you're only looking for a house where to stay, no matter what you get, this place is allright. But if you're looking for a house you want to enjoy and where to feel at home and relax, I won't recommand this property.Owner response: Thank You for your critique of our property, it is always good to hear what out guests have to say, both good and bad, as it : A) Gives us a chance to respond and B) Tells what we need to work on to please our guests, which is always our main goal. We have never tried to hide the fact that the house has walls that don't reach the ceiling, but having lived in the house I can say that it was never a problem. The " partitions" are block walls 7 1/2 Ft. High, and you don't hear conversation, room to room. The up side to this arrangement is that the whole house is air conditioned, whereas in most rentals here, only the bedrooms are air conditioned. The house is very bright when the sun is shining, lots of windows and a skylight as well. Unfortunately,if you arrive while it is raining, almost dark and the lights are on, and the next day it's raining the house will look dark. It is true this is not a new house, but it is well maintained and comfortable. There are two other houses on the property, one very small ( where my girlfriend /concierge lives and my own, ( both single people) yes you can see the roof of my house, but it definitely not in the view. ( The property is almost 2 acres in size) and we do our best to stay out of the way. Most guests love Moose Max and Sasha ( The Dogs) as they are very people friendly and provide security!!! ( People who love dogs love these guys)! There is a short walk down to the pool, most enjoy the feeling of privacy! ( We personally never use the pool if guests are there.) We had an unusually wet Nov.and early Dec ( It is still green season at that time). so I apologize if it was a little slippery going down the steps, but all steps are a little slippery when it is raining. It is true the pool is not convenient for the very old, the infirm and the seriously over weight. This is an ideal family home with the Master Suite across the hall and completely private, so parents or grandparents can enjoy their privacy. We do not advertise the house as a luxury home, and certainly do not price it that way, we simply offer a comfortable, convenient, well equipped home in a super handy location, with views and a great pool, at a fair price!!! Please take this critique in context with the others here and be open minded when making your decision. We would love to have you visit us and enjoy beautiful Costa Rica, and we will do everything to ensure a great vacation. Thank You and Happy New Year Peter @ Itza

Thank You Pete for providing the " ULTIMATE " Costa Rican experience! Your house is beautiful and extremely accommodating. We felt like we were at home in an instant ( except with a better view and an amazing pool!!). Itza was great planning our activities: Scuba Diving- Zip Lining and the National Park ( Manuel Antonio) tour. We girls recommend a massage from Itza at the pool! It was so relaxing, she really knows how to use her hands, and the facials were also sublime! Moose and Max were gracious hosts as well, paying us a visit every now and then for a pat on the head. Every place we ate at was great, the highlight being our last night's dinner at Cafe Milagro ( El Patio). El Avion and Barba Roja were also quite good. If you want some local flavor Los Amigos is just down the street, and restaurant Angel beside Super Joseth's ( Supermarket & Liqor Store) were great and decently priced. Everything is super close by and convenient around Pete's. The bus is handy , but we found walking was just as great. We are defiantly sad to be living and going back to our hum drum lives after this experience. We all hope to come back some day and we will most definitely want to stay here again. Thanks again Pete, Itza, Moose and Max.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We just recently stayed at Pete's place and had the best and most relaxing vacation we have ever had with our kids. It is such an amazing place.... It was like having our own private jungle retreat including our own private and very beautiful pool. As has been said before, Pete was helpful but gave us lots of privacy. We did hear some traffic noise but that is so minor compared to the amazing setting that is offered. Plus, being close to that road also meant we could walk to restaurants and the grocery store. (By the way, you can't see the busy road or any traffic from anywhere on Pete's property and his entrance is not on a busy road.) We were also fortunate to have many visits from the squirrell monkeys right off the back deck. I can't say enough good things about our stay at Pete's. Since we have come home, we still miss having coffee/tea on the deck overlooking the jungle every morning..... Thanks Pete!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Pam, it was great having you guys stay at Pete's, nice folks always make my life easier. Hope to see you again some day. Not to worry Spring is just around the corner and Summer not too long, but for now enjoy your memories of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and of course Pete's Place. Thank You again for your kind comments and all the best in the future. Pete

Pete's Place is a real pleasure. Doesn't look like much when you drive up, but the setting is excellent, with a slightly distant ocean view on 1 side, and a fabulous jungle and mountain view in the back with a great deck to hang on. The exterior of the house is really integrated into the environment. The inside of the house is very comfortable and very thoughtfully decorated, with local art, including wall paintings and hangings as well as hanging pictures. A/C works great, bathrooms are great, as are linens, towels and beds. Also appreciated fine kitchen equipment and 3 times/week housekeeping, as well as a decent CD player. We never watched the TV or used the internet- wanted to get away from our home routine. Best thing, though, as everyone says, is the pool down the hill in the jungle. Gorgeous, day or night (has lights), hanging out in the lush vegetation with the lizards, birds and monkeys. You could be happy never leaving the property for a week. Pete was a great help, and very caring when we needed help. His concierge, Itza, is also great. Best to book any trips with her- she uses really good people. One downside is that there's some road noise, but it never bothered us much. The back bedroom is isolated from the rest of the house, but the other rooms all have an open central wall, and are therefore not sound isolated. Other issue is endemic to Costa Rica now- the emphasis on security, with all properties gated, grilled and locked. Pete's Place feels very safe, and the security is really not intrusive. Manuel Antonio itself is very pleasant. We all spent time on prior trips in Corcovado, the ultimate tropical rainforest, and this is not the same, but the flora and fauna are a great introduction to Costa Rica. The beaches are great, as are the restaurants (Kapi Kapi was the best). It is a tourist town, but there seems to be a nice mix of tourists, locals and ex-pats. Everyone we met was very friendly and gracious. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time at Pete's Place. The home was perfect, a great location, great pool, great accomodations. The only surprise was that the walls do not extend to the ceiling, not good for noise control, but excellent for cooling with the airconditioners. Our children were teenagers, so keeping the house quiet at an early hour was unnecessary. Early activities, with early sunsets made for lights out by 9:00 for all of us! We highly recommend staying at this wonderful home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We spent March break 2010 at Pete's Place. I had found Pete's place by searching for villas in the Manuel Antonio area. We stayed in Casa Linde and had the Master suite as well. The Main house in open concept with a great kitchen and lovely bedrooms. The local crafts (pots and wood carvings) were a delight. We enjoyed the walk to the large swimming pool every day. The walk down to the pool was a naturalist's delight, full of Flowers and Butterflies. During our stay we did see a troop of Whitefaced monkeys foraging for Mangoes and Coconuts and cross over the house. Iguanas were seen every day on the roof and Geckos hunted every evening on the ceiling of the Balcony. My daughters (14 and 19) enjoyed having access to the Internet and I enjoyed the recently released DVDs in both the main house and the Master suite. Pete was a great host. He even helped my wife get replacement glasses, as she lost her glasses in the waves at Manuel Antonio National Park. As we don't speak Spanish this was very appreciated. We went on several tours druing our week: 1) a guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park; 2) a Jungle Night Walk "A unique odyssey into the nocturnal world of the tropical rain forest; 3) Damas Island Mangrove tour in Kayaks; and 4) Jungle walk in the Rainmaker Conservation Project, a privately owned rainforest reserve located in San Rafael Norte. Though you don't need a car, I found the car gave us that extra freedom to go and explore up and down the coast. My wife and I both worked as Naturalists for Parks Canada and we had dreamed of visiting Costa Rica one day. Our stay at Pete's Place was a dream come true. We will return to Costa Rica! Cheers ErlingRecommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much Erling for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family and I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Pete's Place in beautiful Manuel Antonio Costa Rica. It is our goal that all guests are treated as though they are our own family, so when we receive such a great review it tells us we are doing something right. It should be noted that the Master Suite is part of the house ( ie:not rented separately) but is across the hall, is completely enclosed, has it's own bathroom, TV/DVD, sunny sitting area and small kitchenette, which makes it ideal for a family where the parents want some privacy and their own space. We look forward to helping you enjoy a great holiday. Cheers Pete ( Moose, Max, and Pulga too!!!)

Me and a group of friends stayed at Pete's Place in January 2010 and had a great time. After having stayed in many hotels in CR we decided to go the housing route this time. Best idea ever!! Pete was always available if we needed him and the house was secure. Pete's 2 dogs are cute and friendly and they roam the property every now & again. They gave the house a heightened sense of security. The pool is down towards the bottom of the property, and the size is perfect! We saw monkeys from the pool! Other homes only had small splash pools which wouldn't have worked for the 7 of us! Bring a cooler down if you have one though because going back and forth to house can be a pain. Not the place you want to be for complete "NICE and QUIET" as the road runs by the house, but that didn't bother us any since we wanted a house in the center of it all. No car rental necessary. The house is situated between Quepos/Manuel so plenty of local transportation is available at all times. The master bedroom is separate from the house so there's a little bit of privacy, but the other rooms aren't closed off due to the ceiling situation so be prepared to become "closer". All in all, the price was right and we would definitely stay again and/or recommend this property to other friends and family members. PURA VIDA!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Pets place lived up to all the previous excellent reviews. Our week long stay with 2 small boys was as easy as being at home. The house is very very comfortable and the pool is outstanding. We felt very secure and very well taken care by Pete, Itza and two dogs any small boys could fall in love with. The house location is centrally located in the Manual Antonio area and the Costa Ricans know how to take care of their visitors. I highly recommend Pete's Place for a family or group of friends who want to visit one of the most beautiful places on earth. The only thing we would change is extending our stay, a week is not enough when you feel like your at home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family of 7 (ages 8-67) stayed at Pete;s Place in Early April. It was fantastic! Pete was there to great us and was good about checking to see if we needed anything. He gave great suggestions about places to eat and things to do in the area. It is a very secure and convenient place to stay with a wonderful Costa Rica atmosphere! The pool was great, the porches are wonderful...it was all very terrific! We drove a rental car and found it very doable...roads aren't great..but charming all the same. Be sure to get a GPS if you drive in Costa Rica!!! Do enjoy Pete's place,,, it's perfect. I didn't bring a hair dryer and Pete even ran his right over for me to use during our stay! Best area to stay in Costa Rica on the Pacific side and Quepos is very quaint as well as Manuel Antonio! It is about a 5 hour drive from San Jose...so plan well!! BUt do go and enjoy Pete and his lovely place!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family stayed at Pete´s Place in February 09´ and we had a fantastic time. The location of the property was perfect for us as we often split into two groups and Pete provides two sets of keys, so coming and going could not have been easier. We could walk to the bus stop, a big grocery store(with liquor) great restaurants and a pharmacy in less than three minutes. Taxis were less than a minute away. The house itself was nicely appointed, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen totally equipped and there was lots of hot water all the time. The pool is fantastic, huge by local standards, with a sitting bench in it and a shallow and deep end well marked.( it is located down the property so is private and totally surrounded by jungle.) Pete is always around to offer advice but is not in the way. His dogs Max and Moose are great, thee kids really enjoyed having them around and they seemed really happy to see us when we returned from the beach or town. We enjoyed sitting with drinks watching the sunset from the front balcony which has a fan, huge hammock for two and a good breeze day or night. The side balcony was great early in the morning to watch the sun come up with an unbelieveable mountain view. We would not hesitate to recommend this propery to our friends ( we will be back ourselves as we felt we definetely got good value for our buck!!). Mauel Antonio itself is a special place, you feel at home right away. The beach and the National Park are fantastic and like the town of Puerto Quepos are only five minutes away by car ( about seven minutes by bus). We had an amazing massage with Pete´s girlfriend Itza, who is a lovely Tica , proud of her country and who also helped us with all our tours( they pick you up and drop you back at the house). Thankyou Pete and Itza for a memorable vacation, and we look forward to seeing you again in the next year or so ( depending on the economy!!!) Thanks again Mona L. and family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We had a family holiday at Pete's Place in Feb 2009 and had a fanatastic time. There were 7 adults and one 18 month old which meant we were full to capacity but the spacious house, the large balcony and the great pool area provided everything we needed. The house is in such a good location as it is walking distance to nice restaurants and the supermarket but at the same time the grounds of the house are very private and you are surrounded by jungle and lush trees. We used the local bus service lots to pop down to the beach, to the national park or to go into town so we really didn't need to rent a car. We loved the birds and the animals and just sitting by the pool surronded by the noise of the Howler monkey or watching the view from the balcony. The beaches down the road are fantastic - much better than I had expected. I would highly recommend this as a house to rent if you are planning a trip to Costa Rica - we had perfect weather every single day, Pete was on hand to help us out with trips and transfers and we all had a fantastic time. Thanks again AlisonRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

We have just returned from a second stay at Pete's Place and we agree with all the positive reviews that have been expressed by others. We stayed at the Casa Linda (a.k.a. the Big House) and really appreciate the welcoming atmosphere of this house. It is spacious and has air conditioning. The kitchen is large and has all the essential appliances, pots and pans, and everything you need to cook a decent meal if you do not want to eat out all the time. And that’s exactly what we did on a couple of occasions. We bought foodstuff from a supermarket within a few minutes’ walk from the house and seafood from a street vendor in town. The absence of fast food chains in Quepos means that every meal is a form of support for local businesses, whether we ate at a restaurant or bought ingredients from a street vendor to prepare our own. The house can comfortable accomodate 6 or 7 people so it is more expensive than many hotel rooms in the neighbourhood but you are getting a whole lot more. Pete’s Place has a beautiful big swimming pool that is larger and deeper than many hotel swimming pools. It is located at the base of his property some 100 yards from the houses. You can splash around to your heart’s content without disturbing anyone! Pete's Plase is just off the main road from Quepos to Manuel Antonio National Park, so it is easy to get around whether in a rental car or by taxi (a taxi stand is two blocks away). Traffic is noisy in Costa Rica but with the windows closed and a/c on in the house the noise did not bother us at all. Pete is always there when his assistance is needed. His dogs, Moose and Maxwell, are very friendly creatures. I have been to many places and experienced many types of accommodation. Quepos is a great retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Staying at Pete’s Place added enormously to the enjoyment of my vacation. Pete's Place is not just another rental vacation home, it's Pete's Place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

You need to love traffic noise if you rent this place. The deck overlooking the ocean is spitting distance to the very busy main road in and out of Manual Antonio. The house is also at the top of a hill so the traffic is in low gear and very loud as it comes by. I would not call the ocean view "outstanding" either like it's advertised. The deck is also fully enclosed in glass, so it can get very hot with no breeze. (You can open sections of the solarium, but, once again, you need to love traffic noise!) It's not as spacious and airy as it looks in the photos. (wide angle lens used perhaps?) The noise from this road starts early in the morning is steady into early evening. The side deck definately has a nice view of the jungle, but still quite noisy. Another lady staying on the property said to me "you will get used to the noise." But, that really wasn't what we were looking for. The main bedroom is also a few feet away from a busy road and separated from the main house by a common use hallway and laundry room. Yes, if you are in the house with the airconditioning running, TV or music on, and all doors and windows closed, you can escape the road noise. Also, there is no secure parking with the recommendation that everything is taken out of the vehicle and the doors left unlocked so theives don't have to smash your windows. Had I known the house was so close to the main road, I would not have rented this property. I think people should know this before booking if you are seeking something a little quieter or off the main drag.Recommended for: Families with teenagers
Owner response: In response to this review I can only say take it in context with the other reviews I have received for this property, Yes, there is some road noise, but the reality is there is only one main road from the town of Puerto Quepos to Manuel Antonio and the majority of places, including most hotels are on or just off this road. Road noise is more common here in Costa Rica, but that is the culture. Pete's is at the top of the hill, that's the reason it has such good views, both to the Ocean and to the Mountains and Jungle. You definitely don't hear the road when the house is closed up with the air con running.( ie; No problem sleeping!!) The upside to the location is it's within walking distance of stores, clinic, restaurants, taxis, and bus stops.(Therefore a car is not necessary, all tours will pick you up and return you to Pete's). As far as the parking goes, it is right outside the gate, ( I also have a lighted parking lot if you prefer) there have been no problems with thieves, we suggest leaving nothing in it, and unlocked only as good common sense. I would suggest you stay in the house for more than fifteen minutes before leaving and give yourself a chance to enjoy it as much as the majority of our clients and friends have over the past two years. Thank you Pete. We are all aware that you can't please all of the people all of the time, but we can certainly try, and we do!!!)

Our 5-member family just returned from a one-week stay at Pete's Place. The description and photos lived up to our expectations, and the experience of living in such a beautiful home and on such a well maintained property was like a fantasy. We had plenty of space. Although it's hard to decide, each of us had a "favorite" thing about Pete's Place. We loved the wildlife and flowers, the proximity to the beach and other activity but still being somewhat removed from the "bustle", the pool and bathhouse perfect for an early morning or evening dip, every amenity one would want in a home, a well-behaved pet to keep company with us on the deck and porch...and oh my goodness the views! The deck was everyone's favorite place to read, chat, and eat breakfast. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with with Pete's Place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We recently stayed at Pete’s place for a week in early January '08. It was a very comfortable and convenient stay. I would recommend Pete’s Place for any stay in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area. The highlights of this facility are the cleanliness (Alicia comes every M/W/F), the mountain view off the deck is absolutely wonderful and is where we spent most of out time while at the home, and enough kitchen supplies to make any meal. The pool is very peaceful and tranquil, and I recomend a short hike beyond the pool for great jungle wildlife.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just wanted to tell you how happy we were that we selected your house to rent for our vacation stay. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, the house was spacious, the deck and its views were magnificent, and the pool—well, how can you beat having your own private pool and bathhouse tucked away in the jungle? And we could walk to the beach, to the grocery store, the internet café, etc. We were somewhat nervous renting a house over the internet for such a long stay —what if it was misrepresented, what if the photography was all done with wide-angle lens, what if….(you get the picture)—but we needn’t have worried. Thanks again Pete for being such a gracious host and sharing Moose with us. A warm hello to Itza and Aby.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
