CASA VISTA
Casa Vista is the perfect place to enjoy the sun and magic of San Miguel. Situated at the base of Los Balcones in the Atascadero area of SMA, the views from the rooftop margarita patio are nothing short of stunning! On weekends, the lights of the cathedral spires dance in the dark! The American-made patio furniture is extremely comfortable for lounging or cocktails.
Imagine starting your day on a lovely garden terrace patio, sipping coffee while taking in the scent of the beautiful bouganvilla that surround the garden. Then, a 10-minute walk to the Jardin is a must where you find the town center of activity. Shopping, visiting the galleries and shops of antiques, strolling the Mercado and bartering for silver jewelry, stopping for a drink or fine meal at one of the many gourmet restaurants so reasonably-priced – this is a day in San Miguel!
Back at the casa you will find excellent beds and mattresses, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, 2 full baths (one on each floor) – even free Internet connection for those bringing along a laptop.
The master bedroom has a king bed and balcony overlooking the terrace garden. The guest bedroom has a double bed and an adjoining room with twin bed for those guests with children.
A maid comes twice a week to help keep the casa spotless, and a gardener comes frequently to water and tend the beautiful flora and foliage.

Of note: The Atascadero area has gorgeous views and the streets are all cobblestone. If you have trouble walking or use a cane, we do not recommend this property. It would be better to stay in a flatter part of town and forgo the views.

Great Views, Sunny Casa in Atascadero; 10 Minutes from Jardin

Why the Owner Chose Atascadero
We purchased this first property in 1998 on our very first visit to SMA – we fell in love with the town and immediately started looking in the Atencion for available properties. We found a lovely house in Atascadero owned by a physician from the US who had just retired to SMA permanently. He was building a large new home and was ready to sell his "vacation" home. So we bought it and I spent 2 weeks in January with a friend adding color, furniture and lots of decorative arts pieces from the area. Then in 2002, our elderly neighbor next door gave us the first opportunity to purchase his property as he needed to move to a one-level home. So if someone is coming to SMA for a wedding, our two properties work well for larger parties or groups.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Atascadero area has beautiful views of the Sierra Madres. Plus, our street is "walk only" on our little block, so it is very quiet and peaceful. Yet we're just a 10-minute walk to the Jardin and all the action. We love walking and also enjoy the 20-minute walk to the big grocery store, the Gigante.
But we do take a cab back if we buy more than we can carry. Cabs are so inexpensive in SMA - only about $1.25 US for anywhere within the city limit.

We live in Kansas City and love to travel. We discovered Sam Miguel de Allende through friends in Fort Worth who had a parent retired in SMA. We continue to travel every year in September, often to Europe. However my husband has forbidden me to look at any other properties as we have 2 in SMA and one in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

We really loved our time at the casa and we especially loved Emilio, Nicolosa and the children. They were very helpful, friendly and thorough in their work for you and your guests!! We got to the point that we considered them, per their request, as family. We enjoyed birthday cake for the children, Halloween goodies, etc. Found out that Emilio and his boys were avid Oakland Raider fans so we had our daughter bring some Raider hats and shirts down for them. Emilio was so proud and happy. What fun. Archie Dean became quite a good friend during our time in SMA. We have every intention of returning there as often as possible!

I just wanted to send a note of thanks for allowing us to stay at your casa in SMA. It was everything we had hoped it would be. In fact, we are seriously considering purchasing our own casa as a result. In the meantime, we would appreciate a calendar update periodically of when the house is available for rent. We will go back to see what we can find in the way of our own place.
