We stayed at this home for our 2011 family vacation. There were 9 of us. The home was large enough and clean. Except for hosing off the decks and outdoor furniture. I did enjoy doing this---do to the steamy weather we had. However a few things were not kept up with They were all minor things-Towel bar/tp holder. I can guarantee that if notes would of been left by previuos renters, the maintainence/cleaning crew would have repaired things. All bedrooms were roomy and had more then enough storage. Bedding was comfortable. All appliances were in good repair. A/C worked great! Hot tub on LL was clean on the deck but not enclosed. I was shocked coming from Ohio at all the different species of insects. I took some home for my grandson. No mosquitos were bothering us. But some very unique insects. To really enjoy the Lake you need a boat whether you bring yours or rent one. You really need to map out trips. The grocery store was about 10 minutes away, after you actually leave the property it took about 30 minutes to downtown Somerset. Again, once you arrive plan trip destinations. The rental office does not budge with too much information. However, everyone else was hospitable. **Make sure you bring your alcohol with you. Yes, it is for sure a DRY county! Other then that our trip was enjoyable. Thank you Carol for letting us enjoy your home. :)

Our family (8 adults, 6 children) arrived 7/31/10 and left 8/7/10. We had a great time. We didn't have any significant issues. We enjoyed the pool table often - kids especially loved it. Also enjoyed the ping pong table in the garage. We enjoyed one of the pools on multiple occasions - quick ride up the hill. The dishwasher worked fine. The refrigerator worked fine. We never measured the temperature, but we never felt like things weren't cold enough. The refrigerator was missing two of the door shelves. We also used the small refrigerator in the finished basement. The grill was brand new and worked great. Washer & Dryer worked fine. Wi-Fi worked great throughout the house - nice to do research on local golf courses, restaurants, etc. The phone in the kitchen worked fine. We received and made multiple local calls without an issue. I don't recall the website calling it an "extra suite", but the basement was a nicely finished basement with a full size bed, a fouton, TV, table & chairs, full bath, small fridge and sink. All the doors locked, including the sliding door off the basement - pull up the knob at the base of the door. Don't recall seeing any burnt out lights. It would be helpful to have more silverware. Even using the plastic utensils someone had bought to supplement, we were constantly having to wash utensils. Not a huge deal, but inconvenient. There's no longer a boat ramp in the resort due to the lower water level. We launched from Burnside State Park (15 minutes). Definitely enjoyed our week, and the house and amenities did nothing to diminish our enjoyment. In fact, they added to it.

My extended family (9 adults and 5 children) go on a group vacation once a year. This year we chose this property after reviewing the website. We arrived at the property on 6/27/10 and left on 7/1/10. Here is our assessment of pluses and minuses as compared to our expectations based on information derived from the website. Pluses - The bedding and furniture in the bedrooms wer better than we expected as were the bathrooms and kitchen (for the most part). It was nice to have nightstands and chest of drawers in the bedrooms. The bathrooms were clean. It was nice to have a washer and dryer and wi-fi though we expected this from the website.. Minuses - The refrigerator did not seem to work or at least not very well. We were concerned with it early in our stay and so we bought a thermometer that never registered below 53 degrees. We understand the constant opening and closing and the amount of food can affect the temperature, but we felt that overnight and once the fridge was packed it should have gotten to a lower temp. Also, the bottom rack on the fridge door was broken and kept falling off. We eventually removed it so we lost this storage space. There was another broken same rack in the pantry. The dishwasher did cycle, but the detergent did not dispense so dishes were not cleaned. We did not use the dishwasher. The phone in the kitchen did not hold a charge from the beginning so while we were able to call out very soon after someone answered the phone would go dead. We ended up not using the phone. It would have been nice if the vegatation around the decks had been trimmed back a little more. I would also say that we did not contact the owner or on site maintenance people about any of these issues for a couple reasons. We did not want anyone trying to fiix the washer or fridge while we were occupying the rental, and we were able for the most part to adapt to the issues. We were there to enjoy of vacation without the interruption of appliance repair.
Owner response:I have replaced the refrigerator, dishwasher and phone. I will say I would prefer someone to contact me with an issue and it would have been taken care of without any major vacation interupption rather than compalin after they have left. I want everyone to enoy their stay at my home.

Myself and my entire family stayed there over this past weekend June 10th to the 13th 2010 for our family vacation there where 9 adults and 5 children. The pictures of the house where very deceiving. The so called extra suite that holds 4 extra people was a full size bed in the basement, the majority of the lights where burnt out and did not work, the door in the basement did not lock, the refrigerator door was broke and the shelves on the door fell off every time we opened the door, the grill and the dishwasher did not work which was very disappointing since we brought down all our meals many which required the grill. The place was not very clean or well taken care of. The house was very spacious and perfect for a large group of people. The large deck was also nice to have. This could be a very beautiful house if it was kept up with and taken care of. We over all where very disappointed with this home.
Owner response:The refrigerator has been replaced, the door does lock, just from the bottom, the bed is a queen size bed not a full and it has a full size futon sofa which should make for 4 sleeping comfortably. The dishwasher was only 1 month old, these people did not take the wrapper off the dish detergent before placing it in the dishwasher therefore the cleaning solution was not released properly. These people stayed the entire time without one call to my maintenance person or myself, if we had received a call things would have been taken care of. I have several guests stay in this home and have never had a complaint like this before, sometimes it is my experience that people tend to blame others for something wrong in their life and I believe this to be the case. If anyone stays in my home and is dissatisfied upon arrival I will refund them their money or take care of the problem its that easy; I just need to be notified.

We had 12 golfers staying there for 2 nights. It was beautiful, spacious, clean and perfect for us. We grilled out, used the hot tub, played ping pong and pool. I would highly recommend this property.

We will always recall our 40th Anniversary with fond memories of our stay at Lake Cumberland. All our family enjoyed the house. It was nice to be together, but we had room for our "own space".

Carol, just to let you know our stay in your rental was great. The house was lovely we enjoyed all the extra bathrooms and the spacious kitchen. We cooked everyday the guys did breakfast on the grill. The kids loved the hot tub. I think they all learned to play pool. We enjoyed the lake. We went skiing, tubing, swimming. We could not believe how big the lake was and how warm the water. Thanks. Kaye Ohde Sr.Eng/Switch Administration

We had a wonderful time here. The house was more than we amagined. There was plenty of room for the 11 of us. We never felt like we were on top of each other. The kids had their own space too. This house is very beautiful and the furnishings were very tasteful. This was our third trip to Lake Cumberland and I am sure there will be many more. The lake as usuall was great.
