This truly is an undiscovered gem. Le Chateau is a tranquil and magical place surrounded by the most stunning countryside. I attended a yoga retreat here and spent a week enjoying the magnificent house, grounds and pool. The grounds are vast, so plenty of space to explore and staying in the house really takes you back to a bygone era. While huge and rambling, there is a definite 'homely' feel, and it has been so lovingly looked after. I'm hoping to be able to return to Le Chateau with my family, so I can share the wonderful experience.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

... the kids spent their time in the pool or playing football on the lawn, leaving us adults free to relax around the pool while enjoying the beautiful sunshine, reading and contemplating which delicacy from the local market we might have for dinner. Bliss.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[the owner] recently completed an impressive restoration of the place, and yet it felt untouched, like there should be velvet ropes everywhere guarding each authentic detail from the likes of modern us. But there weren’t. I could sit in every deliciously upholstered chair, walk across every stone checkered floor, touch every ceramic knob. I wanted to skip through all the rooms and look through all the drawers and walk wistfully through the fieldsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About: A European with French citizenship, I was born and brought up in Kenya. As a teenager, I lived in Austria and have spent the last 30 years in London. I set up my internationally based business, The Daylight Company, in 1990 and now aim to spend much of my time in France. I am fluent in English, French, German and Spanish.
Why Le Fousseret:
I've always regarded France as home so it felt natural for me to find a house here. I fell in love with the chateau when I first saw it. It evoked childhood memories of rambling family houses and lazy childhood summers. Perhaps because much of my life has been spent in different places, I always regarded France as the nearest thing to home. All my childhood holidays were spent with my family in France and my brother and sister both have houses there (my brother lives next door) so it was natural for me to find a home in France. Magnificent views of the Pyrenees coupled with the warmth of the local population make this an idyllic place to relax.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
Castelnau has the gift of making all those who visit feel comfortable and relaxed. Its splendid location is impressive. The front of the house is positioned in the heart of the hamlet, the rear looks out onto private meadows, forest and mountains. It offers tranquility and seclusion for a memorable holiday, a retreat or a special family event. The interior of the house is original and fun to explore.
