Stonewall Crossing: Historic Property on the Shenandoah
- Minimum stay:2-3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Enjoy natural beauty at this historic retreat on the banks of the Shenandoah River. Built in 1739, Stonewall Crossing sits on 25 beautiful acres with nearly a mile of riverfront views, a meadow, a pond, a quarry, and views of the Massanutten mountain ridge.
Stonewall Crossing is a unique, welcoming respite in the countryside that sits on the banks of this historic river. The original two-story log cabin has been beautifully renovated. The lower level serves as the Great Room, complete with a bluestone fireplace built from rock quarried on the property. In all, the house features four large bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. The décor of each bedroom draws inspiration from the original structures of the pioneering families and Shenandoah Valley farmers who have lived here over the past three centuries.
Stonewall Crossing also features luxurious, modern amenities. A fully appointed, chef’s-quality kitchen with granite countertops opens to the dining room--perfect for cooking, entertaining, and gathering to enjoy special meals. Off the dining room and surrounding the house is a two-story deck overlooking the river and perfect for socializing, watching the sunset, stargazing, or relaxing with a good book.
Stonewall Crossing is located in the Shenandoah Valley nestled between the Shenandoah National Forest and the George Washington National Forest. Stonewall Crossing’s deck provides a stunning view of Strickler Knob, considered one of the top hikes in the Mid-Atlantic region.

This homestead is a real gem. It's easy to imagine why settlers chose such a bucolic scene to build their future over 300 years ago. As nice as it is to be part of this history, the home has so many great modern touches. Our family utilized every room and enjoyed all that this property has to offer. Each day was fuller than the next - biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, swimming, cooking, eating, cards, board games, campfire, reading, pictures, sleeping and then repeat.Did you find this review helpful? Thank you so much for providing a perfect retreat to kick off the summer season. The accommodations were immaculate and the perfect combination of modern amenities and historic charm. All the kids loved exploring the property, playing catch, fishing and taking hikes. The adults loved relaxing on the deck with glasses of wine while taking in the gorgeous scenery. We'll definitely look forward to more (hopefully longer) weekends here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We couldn't have picked a more idyllic spot to celebrate my fiance's birthday. We had a wonderful time using the gourmet kitchen, talking and laughing around the table and fire pit, reading in various cozy nooks and enjoying the local hiking trails.Did you find this review helpful?
