The house is modest but comfortable and could accomodate 2 couples or a small family no problem. The beach is great, and the island is laid back. No real neighbors to speak of, and the beach was all ours. There was a steady breeze the entire time we were there, which really helped keep things cool and keep the bugs down, and we spent most of our time in the water, on the beach, or on the porch. North Caicos has more grocery/restuarant options than we initially expected, so don't stress the shopping in Provo too much. Prices are not too different either. If you are going to fish bones, then make sure you book a guide early, as they are few and far between. Otherwise you can rent a kayak from J.D. in Bottle Creek and fish the flats on your own. He is a cool old dude and it is worth the rental just to hear his stories!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My husband and I, along with our 16 month old daughter, had an amazing time staying at this house. The house is right on the beach - step down from the porch and you are on the sand... take 10 steps forward and you are in the ocean. The beach itself is beautiful, the water is crystal clear and looks breathtakingly blue and, when we were there, was warm - especially in the late afternoon. It was wonderful for swimming, for going on walks, collecting shells, etc. This is the perfect 'get away from it all' type place. It is not the place to go if you want restaurants, bars, people watching, nightlife, etc. Walk 20 mins in one direction and you get to a small bar attached to the Pelican Hotel (very pleasant spot to grab a drink), walk 20 mins in the other direction and you get to a restaurant. There are a few other houses on the beach, although most - when we were there - seemed to be empty. There is a small grocery store not too far, but they only have basic things and few vegetables and fruits. That's pretty much it, so you really do need to stock up at the IGA before you go if you are staying for a while and want more variety. The house itself was comfortable and clean, and it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and there were lots of towels, linens, etc. There are two hammocks outside, and sun chairs, which was great! The best part for us, though, was the location on such a beautiful, pristine beach. It was exactly what we wanted and we have fond memories!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

We had a fabulous time during our entire stay. Ron and Joan were fabulous and helpful neighbors. Mac was helpful with the taxi and local knowledge. The house was ideal and exactly what we were looking for: remote, quiet, private and located on an amazing beach with amazing water. The shells washing onshore were beautiful, and our stay could not have been better. We would love to go backRecommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

We have stayed on North Caicos many times over the past several years, but this was our first time staying at Whitby White House. It won't be our last though. Mac Campbell met the two of us at the ferry and we followed him to the house on Whitby Beach. It is beachy casual, a little rustic, but very clean and everything works perfectly. It has a great view of the water since it sits up some and it is also quite close to the beach compared to other homes on Whitby. We enjoyed the hammocks in the yard and the shade provided by the pine trees. Also, star gazing at night is amazing! The kitchen is well equipped, and I was happy to use the nice gas Weber grill for much of the cooking. The bed we used was also comfortable and it was nice to see they have air conditioners in the bedrooms if we come back in the Summer months. We look forward to returning to Whitby White House sometime soon.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week there after new year. We loved everything about this vacation. The house is nice, has everything we needed. They did a really good job cleaning it, the floor is shining and even the sand around the house is combed. Nothing fancy, but definitely cozy. Every morning we woke up hearing the ocean, took a quiet walk on the beach at sunrise, cooked breakfast at the house, then go on adventures on the island. Everybody we met there were super nice to us, and shared a lot of useful traveling tips with us. We really didn't want to leave at the end of the week. We have heard about the bugs, so we were prepared with bug sprays and other stuff. Actually it's not that bad, as far as you keep the fan on and spay yourself before bed. The roads at some places are pretty bad to drive, but the nice view definitely worth it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We've just returned from our 5th trip to North Caicos (with number 6 coming up in less than 2 months) and have stayed at the Whitby White House for 3 of those. While rustic, the house is comfortable and offers everything one could need. A/C was recently installed but frankly we've always been fine with the trade winds blowing through the house and the ceiling fans. The house has an elevated, wrap around porch which provides unfettered views of those amazing turquoise waters. Since the porch wraps around the western side of the house, it is possible to sit comfortably when the winds are strong, using the house to block the wind. The property has lots of mature vegetation and is quite private. There is a mature pine tree close to the beach that provides shade for most of the day, and is our favorite spot for lounging and reading. The beach itself is, frankly, amazing. You can walk for hours and run into 2 or 3 people. In the summer the beach is all yours. The water our front is generally warm and usually calm as the waves break out on the reef. The house is in the middle of the action, so to speak. The Silver Palm restaurant is a short walk up the beach in one direction (note that Karen only opens mid-November and is closed during the summer), with the Barracuda Beach Bar and Grill in the other. The food at the Silver Palm is excellent. You can walk in for lunch, but should call ahead for dinner. The Barracuda...well, I simply love the Barracuda. Its right on the beach and is a local hang-out for Belongers and expats alike. Clifford, the owner, will regale you with stories and if you're lucky Lovey might be there. The food is basic but very good, and the cracked conch is the best I've had anywhere. The rum punch there is outstanding and not the overly sweet drink they serve on Provo. The property owners, Brian and Lynne, are extremely responsive and are a delight to deal with. The local property manager, Mac, is fantastic and a gentle soul; always with a warm smile. He will look after you well and you can count on him if you need anything. He will meet you at the ferry and take you to the house, and check in on you during your stay. In short, the Whitby White House is an affordable way to enjoy North Caicos and is our preferred place to stay when we go.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We arrived at the ferry terminal on N. Caicos and was promptly met by Mac our 'goto' guy during our stay. Mac is a very friendly and trustworthy guy that is available for you during your stay. We arranged a 3 day car rental thru Mac from Susan @The Pelican Beach Hotel ($65 all in/day). Mac gave us the run on the beach house. We like rustic and this place offers all to you with comfort and all the amenities we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the property and for beach location, swimming, comfort, solitude and privacy it can't be beat..I cannot imagine that it gets any better than this. It was very hot, but the breezes were always there to cool us down. Yes, we are in the tropics so the sand does offer opportunities for bites in the evening..mosquitos seemed to like us too..bring bug spray and you will be fine. Nearby Karen is cooking up fabulous food at the Silver Palm Restaurant and for a lighter fare the Barracuda Beach Bar does a mean red snapper fish sandwich and mojito. We would also like to mention Miss B's place along the main road. Her curry grouper and hospitality is infectious. We have no bad comments so inclosing; what are you waiting for? We had a great vacation at the Whitby Whitehouse!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We were looking for a secluded get away for the holidays to recharge & rest up for 2012. We found it on North Caicos where the people are friendly & their is nothing left to do but stroll the beach & hunt for conch & shells. We were met by the owner of the rental & recieved a warm introduction to the property & what to expect. As described by others the house is set on a perfect stretch of beach with great views of the water from every window. The interior is basic with everything you need but do not be expecting any luxury. Furnishings have seen better days & for the most part everything has that well worn feel to it. We were expecting the mosquitos & noseums based on other reviews but they understate the issue! Morning & night you have to keep the doors shut & windows closed or you will be invaded by noseums who are smaller than the window screens & make life very unpleasant. Best defence is the wind & the more windy days you have the better as they keep the noseums down & being outside enjoyable. Its a real shame as you have beautiful evenings but cant sit outside & enjoy it! Like most we bought groceries in Provo @ the IGA & dont let the sticker shock scare you! Its expensive but selection was good & make sure to get things boxed for the ferry ride to North Caicos. KJ's is the local store & has all the basics & is a 20 minute walk from the house either by beach or road. Prices were better than the IGA but selection is mainly water, canned goods & munchies. A must is to go visit Karen & Poach at Silver Palms Restaurant! Food is all home made, prices are reasonable but better yet is being warmly greeted by them both as you enter the doors. You quickly are made to feel like a regular & your patronage is valued. For a change head down the beach the other way & have the best lobster salad on the island at Barracuda Beach Bar! The beach in front of the house is great & very safe with no currents or anything of concern. Best place for a swim is to head towards the east & Pumkin Bluff just past the old pier. The sand is soft & the beach secluded with the old ship wreck right in front of you, perfect! If you get a chance rent a car one day & explore Middle Caicos. Visit the beach at Dragon Cay, have a meal at Daniels & explore the caves. A day is lots! Acid test for me is always would you book a property again? I loved the location, the seclusion, the people but for the price the accomodation was lacking.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our visit to the whitby white house. The location of the house was excellent. the photos were very accurate. the property was clean and maintained well. the owner sent us a package of information on what to do, where to go, and how to get around. It was very helpful. couple of points to remember: our suggestion is when the sun goes down plan on going into the house. We were here in October and the mosquitos were plentiful. everything was provided to cook with, but suggestion was either bring drinking water or boil it to be safe. water is collected from the rain. don't forget to bring your own food. there is a little market within walking distance but bare minimum as to supplies. We rented a car for one day and saw most of what we wanted to see. We would recommend this property. Susan at the Pelican beach hotel was also very helpful as well as Mac the caretaker.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

This was an amazing place. If you are looking for luxury accomodations with granite counter tops, travertine tile, beautiful track lighting, etc, then look elsewhere, but if you want a the best view possible, peace and quiet, clean and comfortable accomodations, privacy, and an amazing beach at an affordable price, then this is for you. The accomodations were more than adequate, and quite clean. It can get very hot at times if there is no breeze, but as long as there is a breeze, that is not a problem, and if you are outside on the porch, where we spent most of our time, it is extremely comfortable. The fans help a bunch. The beach is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous beaches I have seen, and I have been to over 50 different foreign countries, and countless beaches. We went in October, and there was not a soul around. The privacy was so nice. Be warned though that in October, the two walkable restaurants are closed because it is the off season, so make sure to bring lots of groceries from Provo to keep you sustained for the time you are there. We brought our 9 month old son, and he had a blast. The house is very baby friendly, and we let him explore around the house, and he loved it. It was so nice to have a second bedroom so we could put him down at night, and still be able to watch a movie, or just relax without worrying about waking him up. Defiinitely take a trip to middle caicos for a day as it is very pretty there. We ate at Daniel's cafe which was pretty yummy. We also went to mudjin harbor. The causeway is marginally serviceable, but it is still there and manageable. Definitely bring some insect repellant as around dawn and dusk they no-see-ums can definitely come out in full force, and if you hit up the beach then, they can definitely get you fast if you aren't prepared. Me and my family would go back in a heartbeat. It truly is paradise, and I hope to go back someday!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

Owner info
Why the Owner Chose Whitby:
After visiting Provo with my family, we fell in love with the Turks & Caicos Islands and wanted to find a home on one of the quieter neighboring islands. Some of the reasons for loving the T & C Islands are:
- The weather- constant tropical temperatures & beautiful breezes
- The most amazingly soft sandy beaches & warm turquoise water
- Easy access from the US, english speaking islands and US currency accepted
- Little to no crime
We chose this particular property because it was the nearest villa to the water's edge on North Caicos. It's situated on a nearly deserted 7 mile long stretch of beautiful beach. You can hear the surf all day long and we have beautiful views because the villa is two-stories high. We walked every inch of the beach before making the final decision. The sand is so soft and free of rocks in front of this particular property and because of the reef, there isn't any seaweed! This is really a great place to get away from it all, unplug, unwind and re-connect with the ones you love.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
- Middle Caicos is an easy drive for a great day trip - explore caves & visit the beach at Dragon Cay
- Beach-combing - spend the day walking the beach, collecting shells (including some huge conch shells) or build a sand castle in front of your private villa
- Swimming in the warm, seaweed free turquoise water
- Local foods, customs & traditions
- Unrivaled place to unplug and unwind
- Unique view of a shipwreck from our beach
- Napping or reading in one of the two hammocks under the palm trees
- Sun bathing in one of the six lounge chairs
- Stargazing at night - it's not unusual to see a shooting star
