Not Dog Friendly. Dangerous Rental.
Not Dog Friendly. Dangerous Rental.
We rented this house for 1 week (July 11-18-12). The wifi did not work well if at all. The home was not as close to the lake as stated in the description. The largest point of contention with this property is its proclamation of being great for dogs. We brought our two small dogs. Being able to do this was the biggest selling point for us. In the description of this property its states being "Pet Friendly." After discussing the parameters of this multiple times via emails and phone calls with the owners we were told our dogs could be off the leash and roam around the immediate area. The owners also stated how friendly the neighbors are. After being at our rental for less than 24 hours we found both of these descriptions to be false. Our dogs were threatened by the neighbor down the hill. He stated he was going to get and use his guns on our dogs. We tried to diffuse the situation and apologize stating that we were told it was okay for our dogs to be there and he threatened to bring the guns up to the rental home. My wife and family were understandably shaken. We left the home as quickly as we could after telling the owners of our predicament. The owners agreed to refund us for the week. After all the trauma and danger and contact with the owners after this frightening incident they haven not refunded us the amount they agree upon.

Owner response: In 12 years of consitently and happily renting to families with pets, we've never experienced one pet owner problem until now. Our neighbor reports 2 snarling and vicious dogs cornered his cat and him on his deck and a beligerant renter who couldn't control his pets and keep them on our property. Realizing this rental would not work for anyone involved, we refunded the deposit and full week's rent and retained the clean up fee. The renter is not happy that we retained the clean up fee. We are 2.1 miles from Lake Glenville - 5-7 minute drive.
Have stayed here twice
Have stayed here twice
We have stayed here twice in the past 4 years. Each time was quite enjoyable. The parking is in the back of the house and is level. You enter on a lovely wrap around porch that is the top level of the home. Through the back door you enter the kitchen and living area. There is a large picture window that looks out to the top porch and into the trees, It feels like a tree house. We were greeted on our first visit by a cardinal eating in the bird feeder. I spent every morning in one of the rocking chairs or the swing on the porch watching and photographing the many varieties of birds & hummingbirds, feeding. This is a very comfortable homey place. Nothing fancy but very comfortable and clean. The basement level can feel a bit cold due to the vinyl covered concrete floor, but it is nicely decorated and has a HUGE laundry room. It is separate from the top level and is a great hang out teens or movies with the family. It is 20-25 minutes from Cashiers and 10 minutes to Lake Glenville. The drive down Pine Creek Rd is a pleasure. We have 2 teenagers they each brought a friend. All of the kids loved staying here. They spent hours at the lake on the rope swing. We rented a pontoon for a day and Signal Marina and went tubing. It is in a secluded mtn neighborhood and the first word that always comes to mind is PEACEFUL. Each visit we have returned home truly rested and happy that we stayed.

My family & I overall enjoyed our past experiences with this abode. I'm all for staying again, but I didn't like that when you go down stairs that there are many spiders, although that could just be because I have a slight fear of them! When you wake up, the cool mountain air & a cup of warm coffee with your loved ones is quite pleasant. Especially in the mornings & evenings, you will find beautifully colored & shaped moths! Great photography can be taken in the big yard. The kids enjoyed having their own hangout in the basement, it can get a bit nippy at times, although that could just be a matter of cuddling up in a nice warm blanket! The adults also enjoyed having a little time to their selves. This is definitely a house for photographers & families looking for some good time together. We brought our kids(2) & they each brought a friend, this has truly become a tradition!
