Java is a substantial family home of historic importance built around 1830 in the heart of Dunmore Town, the former capital of the Bahamas.

The house provides comfortable and relaxing accommodation for up to six people.

On the ground floor there are large sitting and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen featuring an old (now ornamental) bread oven.

The sitting room opens onto a large covered patio with both dining and sitting areas leading to a secluded garden. The roof of the covered patio forms a large wooden deck, accessed from the second floor landing.

On the second floor there are two large bedrooms, one king and one twin with an en suite bathroom. There is also a separate bathroom with a Victorian rolltop bath and period accessories.

On the third floor there are two further bedrooms, one single and one double, both with excellent views of the harbour and neighboring islands.

All four bedrooms are air conditioned with modern split systems which are much quieter than the old fashioned window units.

There is a 30 x 15 foot private swimming pool in the secluded landscaped garden with sun loungers and other patio furniture.

Java is equipped to a high standard and contains many pieces of antique furniture and paintings from England, America, India and the Caribbean. Telephones, Cable TV, a sound system and gas outdoor grill BBQ) are provided. There is also a laundry containing a washer and dryer.

The property has a wireless internet connection.

The services of a housekeeper are included each morning except Sundays.

Java is centrally located in the historic 'Cape Cod style' village of Dunmore Town and is within easy walk of the shops, hotels and restaurants.

The fabulous Pink Sands beach is only a short walk away and golf carts are readily available for hire for exploring the island. Boat hire, excellent bone fishing and deep sea fishing, SCUBA diving and snorkeling are all readily available in the charming village.
