The condo was a nice size and the murphy bed was surprisingly comfortable! The couch pulls out and is a ncie size. This would not be a good size room for a family or large party - probably only 4 people who are comfortable sleeping very near each other. Thank you for providing a humidifier - we are from Florida and that made sleeping SOOO much easier. The view was great and we really enjoyed the hot tubs and heated pool. The ski out/in feature was convenient for getting there but we were unable to use it to get back since we were only beginner skiers - thank god for the shuttle to Winter Park! Very close to the village - free short term parking there for meals. Keying in the codes to enter the building, garage and room was a little annoying but we had them memorized a couple days in. A great vacation - thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I've stayed in several condos all over the Winter Park/Fraser area, and this was definitely the most convenient for access to the slopes. The access trail is just outside the building. For the trip down to WP base, it's really slow. Skiers have to pole a lot, and it's pretty much impossible for a snowboarder to make it. The trip down from Mary Jane to the condo was much, much better. However, we decided riding the bus was just as easy since the bus stop is right outside the building. The only thing I wasn't expecting was that there was no soap for the bathroom or toiletries. Only toilet paper, paper towels, etc were supplied. It wasn't a big deal, but I wish someone would've let me know so I would've been more prepared. All of the other condos I've stayed at furnished something. All in all it was a great stay for the price. The condo is comfortable and clean. It was perfect for two people. I can see how others with kids probably got a little cramped. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but we did use the hot tubs. They were easily accessible from our building and we didn't have to get out in the below zero temps to get to them, except to run out and jump in. I will look to stay here again in the future, especially if the price stays low.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The rental property is a small studio but has a good ski-in/ski-out attraction as long as you're not bringing any ski beginner or beginner/intermediates. It is located on the Mary Jane side of the mountain, which is definitely for more advanced skiers. My boyfriend and I are both fairly new to skiing, so we elected to take the free shuttle to the village each day rather than risk our ultimate demise. Even so, the shuttle service is excellent in Winter Park. The drivers are very friendly and helpful. Just a note, while we were able to get to and from the ski resort without a rental car, it would definitely be more convenient to choose a rental if you want to avoid a few minutes of frigid cold while standing outside and waiting for the bus. The condo feels very cramped when the murphy bed is down. But it is cozy and sufficient for two. The Iron Horse front desk is quite accommodating and will help with any questions you may have. Enjoy!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Most convenient access to skiing we have ever had. The locker and access to the slopes were one easy downward flight of stairs. Our skis were rented from the shop on the first floor so it was easy to rent/return/fix problems. We only used our car once to get food from the local Safeway because it was an easy walk to the charming Winter Park village. We rarely used the shuttle. We had a nice view and clean room. It was smaller than expected and we were on top of eachother when both beds were being used ( they almost touched). For the price though, it was worth the small quarters and lack of privacy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Nothing beats the location of Iron Horse! The facility is great with an onsite restaurant, bus service to town, indoor/outdoor pool, fitness room and hot tubs. This particular unit was OK. We stayed with two adults and two children, 8 and 10. The pull out couch was the most miserable thing I have "slept" on in years! I would recommend sleeping on the floor instead. It would have been nice if the ice maker was working in the freezer. It was well equipped and everything else worked great. I would stay again but not sleep on the pull out!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your input. We do realize that the sofa sleeper is less than desirable and we are hoping to get this taken care of during the mud season! Thanks again and give us another try if you come back up.

We enjoyed this studio very much. The shuttle stop is on the first floor of the building and the heated garage is first come first serve. My daughter, 4 years old, enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool tremendously. My husband tried the ski-in and ski-out with his snowboard, which he said wasn't too bad. Though Ski-in is definitely for moderate to advanced. The kitchenware is nicely stocked and we cooked all our meals in the studio with no problems. The manager is very easy to work with (very fast response) and the booking process is smoth! The cost is very very reasonable and we would certainly return next time we are in Winter Park! Thank you for sharing this studio with us!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the review! We would love to have you come back this summer and would offer you 10% off the nightly rate of your next stay! We certainly enjoyed having you here and working with you during the booking process. We hope to see you soon!

This is a great place for a Winter Park getaway -- very clean and comfortable unit, fantastic location on the Corridor run, excellent value, and great facility overall. We loved the hot tub, pool, and restaurant at the IronHorse. The booking process was exceptionally smooth and pleaseant, too. Our only complaint (aside from trying to remember all those digits for the codes all the time) was that the mattress on the fold-out couch really, really needs to be replaced -- it's thin, sagging, and has springs poking through.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the review. We also appreciate you taking the time to let us know about the mattress on the sofa sleeper. We will take your advice to heart and see what we can do to make that a more comfortable sleeper. We hope to have you stay with us again in the future!

My wife, daughter (7) and I stayed in this condo for spring break. It was priced just a little more than a hotel we had last year in town, so I compare this studio against comparative hotel rooms in WP, and not against a 1+ BR condo that is more costly. We loved the location, which made us feel like our building was the only one in the world. It was quiet. The ski down was easy, though with the 7 year old with us skiing slow, we did have to pole a lot. I never tried to go down by myself and see if I could get enough speed to carry down. I just took the shuttle back to the room, since the daughter couldn't ski Mary Jane. It is the first stop from the green route. The guys in the Ski Depot downstairs were great to deal with, and give all the Iron Horse guests a good discount. We absolutely loved the pool, and couldn't get our daughter out of it. With all our luggage, I felt a little tight on space, but considering I'm comparing this to a hotel, all is good. I slept on the bed two nights, and the pull out couch two nights. I'm a big guy, and the couch was a little challenging. On the nights I got the couch, I did find a "groove" between springs that I felt ok in. I should have put the daughter on the bed all four nights, since it didnt bother er at her weight. The nights I got the bed, it was really comfy for a murphy. There were a couple minor things that needed maintenance, and we let Kandice know about them, but nothing that cast a bad light on our stay. The only thing I can say negatively about the kitchen is I would have killed for a non-stick pan. It seems like I made a burnt offering for everything I tried to cook. Maybe its user error. Kandice was great to deal with, and if rates stay where they are compared to hotel rates we will be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

The upsides: This place is so conveniently located, you can easily "swing by" for lunch. It really can't be beat. Nor can the freindliness and helpfullness of Kandice (the owners rep) or the Iron Horse staff. It's also much more quiet than other places we've stayed near the base area. If you love to ski and this is your main objective, this place is for you. The kids think the pool rocks. The wife and I are more fond of the hot tubs. The downsides: The kids like the pool so much, it is almost impossible to get them to leave before closing time. You are staying a little way from the main base area and its' amenities, and you will need to be on the "Jane side" if you want to ski home at the end of the day. Otherwise you'll have to endure a short bus trip or make a ten-minute hike to get back to the Iron Horse. If you plan on staying in for dinner (a nice option after a hard day of playing in the snow), you may find the kitchen a little dated and under stocked with utensils. That said, Kandice was so freindly and helpful, I had the feeling she would have procured a turkey-frier if we'd have asked her. We just hated to bug her too much. Bottom line: This place is a little dated and nothing fancy, but it is refreshingly quiet with very convenient ski-in-out access, everytihing is in good working order, and the staff are pleasant and very helpful. It will be our families first choice for over-night stays at Winter Park/Mary Jane in the future. If you are looking for the utmost in modern amenties, flash, and glitz, you may not be happy here. If you are looking for a quite, comfortable, convenient place to stay and ski with freinds and family who are looking to do the same, this place is for you.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
