Our family of 4 (20-21 year old 'kids') had a great time at the condo. It is exactly how it is described. The owners live on the same property and are very helpful with advice and recommendations. If you want a peaceful, quiet place very close to the beach, it is the place to be. And even then...it is only an hour drive to Waikiki if you want to have a taste of the other Hawaii. We stayed the whole week in Oahu and at the same place, and drove around to see the rest of the island. Traffic was not bad at all.And who cares to be in some traffic while your eyes can feast on paradise?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This 'apartment' (mainly a home) is the best place to stay in Haleiwa. My wife and I had a great time because the location is excellent, close to town and right near the beach (short stroll across grass). Our wonderful hosts met us on arrival and we settled in immediately to a cosy spacious home with everything that we needed. An absoute delightful place and highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I rented this space for the last 4 days during a week in Oahu recently. It's a bit back from the ocean but only a couple of minutes walk to one of the best beaches we've ever seen! There's a reef with some great snorkeling, and one afternoon we saw a different sea turtle every time we put the flippers on (each one subsequently larger - the last guy must have been about 800 lbs and close to 4 ft long). The apartment is private with a 2nd floor balcony facing the ocean, a charcoal BBQ, and boogie boards, beach chairs and some snorkeling equipment. Beach towels too (thanks Betsy). The apartment is spacious and would easily fit a family of 4-5, with 2 separate bedrooms and a large couch in the living area. The screened-in patio is a nice place to sit and read. Appliances are all in great working order which is important to us as we don't like to eat out all the time. Very clean and quiet. Tons of birds in the morning and a few "free range" chickens roaming around, which did not detract from the overall experience in our minds. This was a nice change from the Marriott we stayed at in Maui the previous week, and has a rustic overall feel to it that is characteristic of the North Shore. We would definitely come back to this place the next time we visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

After spending 5 days in a hotel in Waikiki (where we ventured to the Windward side most days), we were ready for getting away from the hustle and bustle. Betsy's and Susan's place provided a calm and relaxing environment and a great location to explore the North Shore. We loved the almost private beach just beyond the back yard and snorkeling with the sea turtles. There is a grocery store in town that is within a 5-minute drive, and Matsumoto's shave ice was a delicious treat after a day of exploring the North Shore beaches and bays. The screened lanai was the perfect area to eat our meals and enjoy our morning coffee. Along with my husband and I, our 3 teens gave this place a thumbs up and a #1 vacation spot. Mahalo for your hospitality, Betsy and Susan!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Having come from a sterile hotel room in Waikiki, this little apartment on the North Shore was a fantastic contrast. It was clean, comfortable and functional. Not fancy, but everything we needed. The owners were even able to help us with rental of baby equipment to make our stay with our 1 year old just that little bit easier. With almost private access to one of the quieter beaches, we were able to watch the sun rise and set, building sandcastles with our family, without the hustle and bustle of other tourists. It got a little hot in the apartment by midday (without air-con), but the sea breezes came right through the building every afternoon, which we could enjoy from either of the lanai's. Easy to get to by 'The Bus', but also worth hiring a car for exploring the whole coastline in comfort (especially with small children and luggage in tow). Definitely would recommend Haleiwa for a more relaxed and local experience of Hawaii.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here with my brother and his wife, and we were extremely happy with our stay! The location was awesome. It was a little hard to find the driveway the first time, but arrived at night so I think that's why. It was easy to get to town, and a short walk to a great beach with lots of shade and sun! We appreciated all of the amenities available (beach chairs, towels, coolers, etc). The apartment itself was spacious and clean, and the screened in lanai was the perfect spot for both a morning cup of coffee as well as an evening drink. We loved the relaxed atmosphere of this place and would love to come back. Honestly, I would stay here again in a heartbeat without changing a thing--the only thing I would change if I could would be to not have dogs barking below us in the morning. In a way though it was nice---it made sure we got up and moving to take full advantage of the beautiful weather!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Three of us stayed here for 5 nights. It was just what we were looking for - a clean, quiet place, convenient to the beach and Haleiwa Town. The amenities were just as described. The beach in this location is so nice to swim in because the water is calm even in the winter where the surf is too rough at other beaches along the North Shore. We had all the privacy we wanted, staying in Betsy's lovely home. When I come back the next time, I'll look for this property first!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Stayed here as a group of 4 and really enjoyed the indoor amenities and the very short walk to the local (gorgeous) beach. The beach along with the rest of the area felt like a local sort of hang-out and was very laid back. The unit itself is in a small building that is shared with a few other units and has its own entrance. There was a little bit of "house noise" from the other units that share the building, but nothing loud or disruptive. The little town of Haleiwa was right around the corner and we used this rental place as a base of operations for our North shore and Polynesian Cultural Center excursions. I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to explore Northern Oahu.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

After spending the first portion of our vacation at Waikiki this was a refreshing change of pace and certainly could have spent more time on the north shore. It's a beautiful flat, very spacious and clean and we appreciated the high quality appliances and furnishings (didn't use the BBQ though). Owner Susan had good advice and recommendations. It was a short walk to the beach and we assumed that the no trespassing signs you had to walk by could be ignored. Every day there were sea turtles (up to ten at once) sunning themselves on the beach and you could always see them swimming just off shore. Hope to return for a longer stay next time. Aloha!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
