I visited Kilkennny with friends for a weekend in November and it was lovely. Viewing the Adirondack mountains as we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere in the Great Room made this a special get-a-way for all of us. I loved the open and modern kitchen with all its conveniences allowing food preparation to be easy and extremely social as we gathered and worked around the large center island. The owners, Ben and Michelle, were very accommodating and made our stay there very pleasant. We found everything we needed and things were well-kept, and organized. The spaciousness of Kilkenny with its many separate rooms, nooks and crannies, and porches provided us with several options for “time alone.” Most of the original features of the Great Camp have been tastefully incorporated and I would really recommend Kilkenny to others looking for a unique place with rustic features that is very warm and tranquil.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+.

My family and I stayed at Kilkenny in early December. This is our fourth time renting and every time we stay, it feels more like home. All of the ammenities you would expect and more for a rental home. Very clean and well maintained - plenty of linens, fans, games, etc. Our kids love how much space there is to just spread out. After a day outdoors, we light the fire, turn on the music and chill - what could be better? The owners are super helpful and gave great suggestions of things to do around the area. We will be back for sure!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

We have been to this property twice with large groups. The kids absolutly love coming here and always ask when we will be going back again. The large wide open kitchen and great room are awesome as they hold your whole group with room to spare. We've also had a couple great nights up in the bonfire area. The bedrooms are a nice mix for families as there are bunk rooms up to master suites with king size beds. I personally like the fact that you always have a quiet place to sit back and relax too. There are so many different and cool little places to get away from everyone too. The owners were great and everything was clean upon arrival. I would recommend this property to anyone from families to groups of adults. It's a great place to get away and spend some time with the ones you love.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

My family had a reunion for one week in August 2011. I love the Lodge! Rustic, nostaligic and the rooms were everything I had hoped for....however...at the amount of money the owners are asking I think the poor old place is in dire need of TLC, some of which would be very inexpensive to repair. There was a hole in the floor in the kitchen that if one of the stools slipped through could cause serious physical injury to anyone sitting on the stool, screens not repaired (one on the porch where the garbage goes which resulted in raccoon raidings). Just little things that could have made the place much nicer. How about washing or changing the shower curtains that were starting to mold? How about anchoring the 2 fabulous dishwashers so they did not fall out of their respective spots? How about cleaning out the drawers in the kitchen once in a while? Nevertheless, we ignored the above problems and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The porch was fabulous and a few of us actually stayed up all night just to watch the sun peak over the mountain. Worth every minute. All of these things would probably not have stopped us from returning but the fact the owner promised more fans on the day we arrived and they didn't come until the day we left and the fact that we had to harrass the owner to return our deposit though he stated that he would send it right out one week after our vacation was over..we regretfully would not recommend. After sending a certified letter demanding the return of our deposit, we received it 6 weeks after spending our week at Kilkenny. That is unacceptable as all was left in perfect shape.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Kilkenny offered a luxury of time away with dear friends and family. I absolutely love the kitchen. Cooking there for many people is effortless and can be a very social time as friends and family nosh on cheeses and dips. The sense of absolute relaxation and "getting away from it all' pervades. Our family dogs wander and loaf about in front of the fireplace as they, too, get a break. The whole lodge is open with a huge great room and has a wonderful capacity to hold the family together while still allowing for some to branch off and play hours of Monopoly. The kids play games and build forts as they dig through the shelves of toys. I highly recommend anyone who wants a real vacation in the Adirondacks to stay at Kilkenny.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
