Welcome to one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Fort Myers, the "City of Palms"!! Thomas Edison chose this part of FL for his own winter home, which is located nearby and is a great place to visit. This canal home is located just two blocks off of historic palm-lined McGregor Blvd and close to the best shelling beaches in the country and the winter training camp for the MN Twins!! The neighborhood is very quiet and tranquil - a perfect place to get away and relax. If you are a boater, there is a 25,000# boat lift right on the property. No boat of your own? Just ask the owners to take you on a deep-sea fishing trip piloted by a licensed captain who knows the best fishing spots in the nearby Gulf waters. Get on the boat right from your back yard! At night, enjoy sitting under the tiki hut by the water and listening to the quiet sounds of the Florida evening.
The inside of this unique 1950's architecturally designed home has been completely remodeled. Enjoy the gigantic walk-in tiled shower in the master bedroom. Both bathrooms have tiled floors and showers and granite counter tops. The bedrooms have brand-new, very high end mattresses with beautiful designer bedding - very, very comfortable and luxurious! Walk out of the French doors off the master bedroom into a yard filled with flowers and fruit trees. Enjoy a cozy fire in the master bedroom on a cool evening. Help yourself to mangos, oranges, key limes, and grapefruit right off the trees!
This home is ideal for cooking and entertaining. It features a brand new kitchen with beautiful cabinets, stainless steel appliances, reverse-osmosis water, and all granite countertops. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need! The pass-through window into the Florida room is a great feature for entertaining guests. The large Florida room has a brand new 55 inch LED TV screen and includes digital satellite TV reception.

My husband I stayed here for 4 weeks in Feb/Mar 2013 and enjoyed it immensely. The pictures accurately reflect the cleanliness and tranquilty of the home and Gloria was a pleasure to deal with. She answered all our questions immediately and even treated us to some mangoes that she had picked. The location of her home is ideal for exploring nearby Sanibel/Captiva Islands, Estero Island with the lovely Fort Myers beach and the interesting historical downtown Fort Myers as well as tons of shopping. In addition, it is only about 10 minutes across the causeway to Cape Coral which offers a smaller but less crowded beach at the Cape Coral Yacht Club (a beach frequented by locals). With the crowds at the other beaches during spring break; we found this beach to be a wonderful place to go and soak up the sun with far less traffic to contend with. I would recommend this property to family and friends who are looking for a central location in a safe and friendly neighborhood with all the comforts of a large family style home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Thank you, thank you for sharing your home with us. The home is beautiful and so comfortable. The furnishings and decorating are top-notch. We attended several Twins games and it was so easy to get to the games. We made a trip to Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel and it was a quick easy drive. We also recommend people go to the Ford/Edison homes which are also nearby. Thank you for opening your home. We loved our time at your home!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the review, Pam! I'm so happy I had a chance to meet you, your husband, and friends. I'd love to have you return next year.

We stayed in Gloria's beautiful home in March of 2011 and found it to be just as advertised or better. She has done a great job of decorating, equipping and furnishing her home with style, convenience and comfort in mind. The location is perfect for easy access to everything from downtown Fort Myers to Sanibel. I highly recommend this home to anybody looking for comfort, quality and convenience in Southwest Florida. Gloria and her sons were a pleasure to deal with and I look forward to returning.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your open airy house this last 2 weeks. We enjoyed the great access to many vacation spots as well as being a perfect "home base" for us to look at real estate and learn more about beautiful SW Florida. Coming home to our own canal each evening, and only a block to the river bay, made your home a very scenic and restful neighborhood. As we were combining a little bit of business and pleasure your location was absolutely IDEAL.!!! For us it is going to be very tough to find another neighborhood as wonderful as Whiskey Creek.!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Thank you for sharing your house with us this week. We enjoyed ourselves and the house very much. John and Ryan caught a snapper and a couple of unknowns off the dock with the fly rod. Couldn't have been more perfect!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

About the owner: I grew up on a family farm in southern Minnesota and was one of eight kids. I can't think of a better way to grow up. I now work as a professor at a mid-sized university in Minnesota - a job I really love! My three sons and their families, including my grandchildren, all migrated to FL. So I bought and remodeled my Fort Myers home with family visits and my future retirement in mind. While I am still working, I spend time with my family in Fort Myers whenever I get a chance (mostly summers). When I am not there, my home is available for YOU to rent!! The neighborhood is truly wonderful and was the biggest factor in my decision to buy this particular home. Being on the water is also a very nice feature - and with no bridges between my dock and the Gulf of Mexico it's clear sailing!
Why the Owner Chose Whiskey Creek:
My three married sons ended up migrating to FL from MN. So it was important to me to have a home nearby for long visits with the family. Also, my parents have been coming to Naples for over 30 years so Fort Myers and SE Florida are a very familiar part of FL for me. With two sons right in town, it made sense to choose Fort Myers as my "get away" home and future retirement spot.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I really love the structure of my house - it's unique and "modern" although built in 1955. The yard is probably my favorite part. It's .4 acres and is filled with palm trees, fruit trees, flowers, and tropical plants. There is a tiki hut out near the canal and people have been known to throw a line in the water sitting right on the dock! The house is in a very quiet residential neighborhood and most of my neighbors have lived there for many years and are really nice and friendly. The neighborhood is super convenient to everything from shopping, to downtown, to beaches, and the famous Thomas Edison Home. Thomas Edison is known to have searched all of FL for the perfect location for his winter home - he choose a spot just a short distance from my home. My house sits on a little shady lane just a couple of blocks off of historic McGregor Blvd. and about a block from the Caloosahatchee River. It's great to go out for an evening stroll and experience the spectacular sunsets over the river.
