I was delighted with every aspect of this rental. The owners were easy to work with and answered my endless questions quickly. It was such a pleasant welcome to have a card and basket of snacks on the table when we arrived! The home was clean and comfortable, but it was also cozy with plenty of personality. The six of us never felt cramped. The bedrooms were well appointed and the beds were quite comfortable. It was surprisingly chilly the weekend of graduation so we did not use the outdoor seating area, though it looked very inviting. We loved the location! We were close to campus and our favorite restaurants. I can highly recommend renting this house! If we had stayed in separate hotel rooms we never would have enjoyed the family feel that the house lends itself to - and it would have cost so much more money! BTW If you get a chance to try the international buffet for Sunday brunch at Leonardos 706 DO IT! Reservations suggested!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I rented this lovely cottage for the MLK weekend so that my family could meet the newest addition to our family, my great nepehew and my parents' great grandson. We could not have made a better choice. The house was immaculate and very well stocked with everything one could expect, and more. We were able to prepare home-cooked meals and lounge around watching TV or otherwise playing dominoes. Unlike staying at a hotel and eating at a restaurant, we did everything at our own pace. The house was very comfortable and accommodated my elderly parents very well. And, as they say "location, location, location"! We were very close to the Hawthorne Trail, enjoyed cycling and around the corner from many lovely nightspots, namely bars. We were also a hop, skip and jump from the Univerisity. I highly recommend this house. I would certainly stay at this property once again should my travels bring me to Gainesville in the future.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We rented the West House for a game day weekend. The location cannot be beat; easy walk to dozens of bars and restaurants, easy walk to the game. The house was comfortable for 7 guys, with a great covered outside patio. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. We have stayed in many rentals for college football weekends, and this was probably the best combo of value and location that we have found.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children.

My group of 7 was here for the LSU-UF game and couldnt have been happier. The house has everything you could possibly need. We didnt rent a car so this location was ideal. Its a 2 minute walk to the bars and restaurants dowtown. The walk to midtown and the stadium was manageable but if not the bus stop is right there. There were also two mountain bikes that came in handy. I would highly recommend it. Thanks AgainDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The owners of 'West House' have created a wonderful, cozy, clean, and comfortable home. The house has been updated and the air-conditioning, central downstairs & windows upstairs, kept us cool in the Florida heat. The extra touches - a welcome basket of goodies, shower gels in the bathrooms, coffee, wine, etc were all so nice and thoughtful! Our request for a small folding table was fulfilled before we even arrived. The access to UF and Shands Hospital was perfect. Close enough to get there quickly but far enough that the football game festivities didn't keep us awake at night. We would definitely recommend it to anyone coming to Gainesville and will be telling our colleagues about our nice experience since they will be coming for clinical rotations in the future. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were very pleased to find the listing as described. We were visiting with our two daughters, 6 and 3, and our babysitter. The girls loved the character of the older house. The house was located within walking distance of downtown and many local restaurants. The owners had a list p[rovided on the refridgerator. We tried several and were not disappointed even once. We will be moving to Gainesville in the future, and our stay was made to find housing and schools. The location of the house provided a central location for both sightseeing and school/house hunting. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to visit for a football game or sightseeing in the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a very nice time staying at The West House. Our family of five had plenty of room and the best part was how clean this house is and how good it smells. The owners have also put some nice touches like several board games to choose from, movies for adults and children and even gave us a few snacks. The house has been updated quite a bit but still has some work that needs to be done. This was a wonderful relaxing alternative to the expensive hotels during special events at UF.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words, Vicky. We've focused our attention on the essentials for a comfortable stay but are still working hard to make even more improvements to the home. It's still a work in progress but is getting better and better every day!

Everything was great (just as pictured): clean, well-maintained, spacious. The family room / common area was nice to spend time in and talk, and the location was super convenient -- we walked into downtown several times to eat and window shop. Overall, it was a great experience. I'd recommend it to anyone.Recommended for: Girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for staying with us! We'd love to have you back any time.

The West Gate House was home away from home for us. It was everything that the description said. Very clean, well maintained and stocked with everything that anyone would need. The children loved the open space, the board games and the DVD movies! It was perfect for us being there to attend a family wedding. The owner was a pleasure to do business with, very accommodating to our specific needs. I would highly recommend this property to you. Hurry and book your stay! As I said, we were there for a wedding so we were busy most of the weekend, but if you like nature Paynes Prairie is close. The rehearsal dinner was at Napolatano's Restaurant, the food was delicious! And last but not least if you are looking for a nice place to have a wedding I would recommend Sweetwater Branch Inn! Thank you Lorraine and Shawn for making our stay so comfortable! If ever the need arises for us to stay in the Gainesville area we will definately give you a call.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We're so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and hope you'll come visit us again!
