Unique 1861 House on Beautiful Jones Street
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This unique and one of a kind house was built in 1861, originally as a residence, with wood siding and the entrance facing Jones Street. Around the turn of the century, it was converted to a commercial business, stuccoed, and the front door was moved to the corner, like many of the businesses in the Landmark Historic District. It remained a commercial business until the mid twentieth century and then was converted back to a residence, although the door remained at its present location on the corner.
The house is located on Jones Street, which is reputed to be the most beautiful street in Savannah. You are within walking distance of everything in the Landmark Historic District, and only blocks from Clary's, Mrs. Wilke's Dining Room, the Firefly Cafe, and the Mercer House.
The house is very open and surprisingly spacious inside, with a very large modern kitchen, which is open to the living and dining area. Be a couch potato, while watching the wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV. Or enjoy your favorite program or movie while preparing a meal in the totally renovated kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.
The bedroom is separated from the living area by sliding glass panels. The bathroom is large and has a jetted shower.
Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine in your cozy private landscaped courtyard.
This house is very comfortable for one or two adults, and up to two younger children, or three adults only. It is not suitable for two couples. If your group consists of four adults, please check out my other listings that are two bedroom houses and would work better for you.

The home is nicer and larger than in the photos. The owner met us at the house upon our arrival and answered all our questions regarding the house. Since this was our first trip to Savannah we were a little concerned about the location but it turned out just fine. Jones Street is the most beautiful street we saw in Savannah. The house was very clean and the enclosed courtyard was great. Parking was not a problem. We had to move the car to the other side of Jones Street for street cleaning but it was still right outside the house where we could see it. We didn't use the car all weekend. We brought our Yorkie-poo puppy with us so when we went out to eat we had to go to restaurants with outside eating areas. These are not hard to find in Savannah. We had breakfast at Cleary's and J. Christophers. They were both a short walk from the house. This house is centrally located and within walking distance of everything you would like to see. We would highly recommend this vacation home and will stay there again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Wow! This is a great house in a great location. We parked our car right in front of the house and left it there for our entire stay as we were able to walk everywhere. The back patio is private and well maintained. We will return. Thanks, Betty!Recommended for: Pet owners.

My wife and I just stayed here for 6 weeks and this rental was just wonderful with everything we needed. The location in the Historic District enabled us to walk to grocerys, Church, many good restaurants, Forsythe Park, the riverfront, coffee houses, City Market, etc. On-street parking was always available right at our door. We especially liked this single story condo with no noise from neighbors above or below us. Betty was so friendly and accomodating. Check out her other rental on Tattnall Street. It looks very nice also. We would return to this rental and would recommend it to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Spent two nights at this neat little apartment. It's location was great, we able to walk all around Savannah and didn't need to use our car! It is pet friendly as well. Lovely Jones street was a great place to walk our dogs. Betty was great, and helped us with all our questions and gave recommendations as to what to see, do, and where to dine. The only draw back is since it is on a corner the side street traffic tends to be busy and somewhat noisy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Last minute arrangements made for a mini gettaway to Savannah. My searched revealed this hidden treasure. Walking distance to River Street but still provide a place for peaceful relaxtions. The house is in a residental district that proved to be very safe. The house decor was beautiful and looked just like the pictures. It was also very clean and provided everything you need for your stay with the exception of Food. The shower and private courtyard were my golden nuggets. I would recommend this property and will consider this property for future trips to Savannah. The property owner Betty was very nice and made me feel welcomed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner has great taste in decor and the towels and sheets were fantastic. She provided added touches like notepaper, books, brochures, magazines, cards. The location was great for getting around Historic Savannah, plus, it was a short drive to the beach. Just staying in was a pleasure, because it was so nice and the private courtyard was great too. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home was fantastic. We walked out the door and were able to walk to every place in the historic district. The home was furnished exactly as pictured!. Betty was fantastic, we didn't need to bring anything except food! And our dog loved the place. Savannah is very pet friendly! We would definitely stay here again or at Betty's other homes! Not only is the home located in a good location for walking the historic city , it was also very easy to get out on the main road to go to Tybee Beach. No parking problems, we parked right in front of the house. You will not be disappointed in this home and vacation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.
