Ready for a quiet getaway for family and friends, the newly remodeled and refurnished River View Guest House awaits you in Blanco, Texas. Built in 1939, this beautiful bungalow style home is nestled in the shade of five huge pecan trees.
Blanco is in the heart of the unique Texas Hill Country. Enjoy the drive into town as you pass through the rolling hills. The town was named after the white limestone on the bottom of the river.
As you approach the native stone home, imagine resting with a good book or talking with a friend on the bench swing on the front porch. Entering the house, you are greeted by amber walls and the original hardwood floors. As the sun sets, the floors and walls assume a particularly lovely glow. The detail and simplicity of the trim around the windows and doorways is pleasing to the eye, and the arch between the rooms invites you to explore. The spacious sunroom at the back of the house is enclosed with windows to gaze at the glistening sun reflecting off the Blanco River.
A large, well-stocked kitchen can be used by guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks. It can accommodate meals for large gatherings of family and friends as easily as a romantic dinner for two. The roomy living area has conversation areas and a gaming table. Kick your feet up in the comfy chairs in the old dining room to watch the cable TV or a DVD. Outside, the three patios beckon you to watch the birds and feel the gentle breezes. Outside seating tempts you to barbeque a meal on the grill for your group.
Reservations can be made for the whole house. There are three bedrooms to sleep six with accommodations for an additional four guests.
River View Guest House is designed to be a place of comfort and connection. We welcome your visit.
Description of the House and Rates
The River View Guest House is a bungalow style home built in 1939. The house has two bedrooms downstairs and an attic bedroom upstairs. Antiques found at auctions and estate sales grace the rooms without creating clutter.
The house can sleep 6 - 10 people. You, your friends and family will have the house to yourselves. The house is reserved for $250 per night, with reduced rates for longer stays. An additional charge of $15 per person per night is required for parties over six people.
The River Bedroom is the larger of the two downstairs. This bedroom features a queen-sized bed and a great view of the river. There is also a very comfortable down-covered bench for lounging or reading a book.
The downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower/bathtub.
The Pecan Bedroom with its bead-board walls and queen-sized bed will lull you into a tranquil sleep with its cozy ambiance.
The Starry Loft Bedroom is reached after ascending the stairs through the pecan tree limbs. Imagine a secret hideaway. The room features a king size bed with a thick pillow topper that can convert to two twins. This ample bedroom has its own full bathroom with shower. Those who retire early will appreciate the quiet and privacy of the Starry Loft.
Two additional people can be accommodated at the house by use of a queen-sized deluxe Aerobed thick inflatable bed. If needed, two more people can sleep on the two leather couches in the living room.
The River View Guest House is also available for hosting gatherings of family and friends without an overnight stay. Call for event packages and customizable options, such as Knit-ins, Quilt-ins, Reunions, Book Groups, Wine or Wildflower Tours, etc.

We recently stayed for 3 nights. The house was cute and homey, very clean, nicely decorated and well stocked. Lots of attention to detail by the owner (e.g. food stuffs like pancake mixes and eggs; shampoos, soaps and body lotions; area travel guides available for use). Since we stayed over Halloween she even left a dish with candy in case anybody came by that evening. Very thoughtful. And the owner was very easy to work with. The sunroom is great. We didn't use the king bedroom because it is separate from the main body of the house and requires exterior stairs to access it. The only thing we missed was not having a modern (larger) TV. The big fenced yard has a gate for direct access to Blanco State Park.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We returned from a 3 night stay at the Riverview Blanco property and I am still grinning from ear to ear. We stayed with 2 families with four children under the age of five and the place was perfect for us. With one family upstairs and the other downstairs, it seemed as if we had our own private accommodations while still having a great game room, family room and kitchen to share. I have stayed in many VRBOs and this was by far the most spacious, welcoming, and well stocked rental I have encountered. The backyard was amazing with room for my kids to ride their bikes and plenty of outdoor seating for the adults to enjoy the cool, shaded backyard patio. The girls enjoyed the 5 minute walk to downtown for a day of shopping and exploring the courthouse. The Real Ale Brewery tour was only a couple of miles from the house and a great way to spend an afternoon tasting some of the best beer in Texas. The house was also equipped with floats for up to 6 guests which we was a nice touch for tubing in the river. And, the bicycle for two was a big hit for everyone. I look forward to returning and enjoying all the house has to offer. You will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

We stayed at the River View Bungalow for our wedding weekend which happened to be Easter weekend this year. We have such fond memories of our time spent there. Saturday was so relaxing getting ready for the wedding. The sun room was the perfect location for hair and makeup to be done. My son loved fishing on the Blanco River while the girls got ready for the wedding. Sunday morning we had everyone over for an Easter egg hunt and breakfast. It was an amazing weekend. We can not wait to go back. Elizabeth was wonderful to us. We consider this our wedding house!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is a wonderful, relaxing place to stay. We got up in the mornings and sat on the front porch or in the sunroom, then took daytrips in the area, and then came home and enjoyed sitting on the patio, the front porch, watching t.v. or swimming in the river. It is a beautiful place and is well-stocked. The owner is very nice and accommodating. I hated to leave!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My family had the pleasure of a weekend reunion with friends at the River View Guest House. We have a two-year-old and our friends have a 10-month-old, so we were looking for a comfortable, clean house from which we could explore the Hill Country by day and where we could enjoy evenings visiting and relaxing after the babes went to bed. The River View Guest House was the perfect choice for us! We loved the set-up of the home with the well-stocked kitchen (no dishwasher), sun room with games, two living rooms, and the separate bedroom suites upstairs and down. Historical details and antique furniture pieces really add charm, as do the thoughtful extras like bath salts, bottled water, and pool noodles and floaties in the storage house. Outside, the large backyard with lovely views of the Blanco River wraps around to the front porch, so there is plenty of space for the kiddos to get their monkeys out! Step through the back gate and just beyond a bank of wildflowers is the Blanco River State Park with swimming, picnicking, and peaceful scenic strolls. Our group really enjoyed grilling in the evening under the impressive pecan tree and watching the fireflies all around the property. We didn't identify any great grocery options in Blanco, so consider bringing your nice steaks and specialty food items from Austin, San Antonio, or even the HEB in Fredericksburg. The Real Ale Brewing Company in Blanco hosts tastings and tours on Fridays. Great local beer! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River View Guest House and would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you, Elizabeth, for your hospitality and for generously sharing your lovely home with our families! Great memories!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

First off, I want to say that Elizabeth is a fantastic caretaker of this place. She was very helpful and answered all the questions that we had. The place itself was awesome with plenty of room for everyone in your group to do whatever they want. Ten of us slept comfortably. The sunroom was my favorite part of the house because it looked over the Blanco River while keeping me cool while I read. The kitchen was also completely stocked with everything you need to cook any meal. Overall we had a great time and will probably return for more fun next year!Did you find this review helpful? Everything was perfect....the house was everything we expected and more....We all had a great time on the bike for two..... this was an awesome weekend the house is close enough to Fredricksburg, Johnson City, & Luckenbach that we were able to junk shop, site see, & still go to Luckenbach for a great Saturday night. Sunday was just great relaxing in the hammock and sitting around on the back patio. We are looking forward to the next time we can all get away for a long weekend and come stay again !! Thanks for making our weekend away special !!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

In a word, perfect! The River View Bungalow was perfectly located and furnished. It is charming and inviting, especially the sun porch overlooking the Blanco River where we snacked, sipped tea, talked and laughed. The kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms were well supplied and there was nothing any of the four of us thought of that was not available. We were even ambitious enough to gather and shell a few pecans from the trees in the yard. Should we ever travel these parts again there would be no doubt we would stay in this quaint bungalow in Blanco.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

I've stayed in this house twice now. Once was with a group of 7 friends, the other was with only one other person. Both times the house was perfect. There is such a special feeling there that whether with a big group or only a friend/spouse. It is true, as I saw in another review, the owner has anticipated every thing, from the fully stocked kitchen, the assortment of games on the sun porch, the guide books, afghans on the backs of chairs and couches, to the makeup mirror in the bathroom. The antiques and and other furnishings give a sense of history and place. There is love in this house and the guest feels it. A beautiful, comfortable, comforting home.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

The owner could not have done a better job of anticipating the needs of guests. I've never seen such a well stocked kitchen. Pots, pans, utensils, wine glasses, enough plates and lovely besides, even spices! Sodas in the fridge, pancake mix, juice! And when i forgot my razor and hair items I just knew she'd have some for forgetful guests and she did. Great thick towels, comfy bed, numerous extra pillows, blankets, etc. And the house was so commodious-we had four couples and still never tripped over each other. Kitchen is huge and can have all of us in there cooking or cleaning, etc. We could retreat to read a book on the various swings or back yard chairs, the window lined dining area with huge comfy chairs-really can't say enough about how great this place was. And outside the gate is the beautiful park with a lovely long walk to start the day. Only downside was being unable to connect to the internet consistently, and no CD player. I think the TV was limited as well. Thank you!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
