Come play in the beautiful area of Dillon Beach, on the Marin County Coast. Some special rates available for May - May 27 - 31, 4 nights for the 3 night rate! Some mid week rates at a discount in June too. Check the calendar and see if you can fit in a visit. We've still got some nice openings, but we do book far ahead, so plan and book your visit soon.

Or, plan a fall get away - Book a week now for your reunion with your family in this beautiful and special place. Almost all holidays are booked, but you can make any date a special occasion in Dillon Beach!

We first found our home that way, my in-laws gave us all a week in this very house. We all coordinated our summer vacations, spent the spring planning the fun we would have, and then all gathered for a great family week of fun! We loved it so much, we bought the house!

We've been there on and off all spring - Beautiful views and a family friendly house - You can't believe how quiet and beautiful it can be on the California Coast.

Come vacation in Dillon Beach! Our property sits atop a mountain overlooking the beautiful whitewater of the Pacific Ocean and to the other side, Tomales Bay, famous for Hog Island Oysters. Our Dillon Beach vacation property is on a corner at the top of the hill, with both bay and ocean views. From the great room, there are nearly 360 degrees of views.

The coast is just gorgeous at this time of year. The weather can be warm or cool, even in the same day! Fog or clear skies, you never really know, but it's all wonderful in our California Beach vacation rental home, Almost Paradise.

A huge deck comes off the kitchen, directly connected to the dining room. The deck has incredible views of the area, a BBQ, and space for quite a few people. Off the deck is a staircase leading to the fully fenced yard, fun for kids and Fido alike. Also on the lower level is a wonderful little hideaway, our greenhouse. You can sit and getaway from it all with a cup of tea, and kids love to dig in the dirt and explore all around.

We have plenty of parking which is usually quite a problem for folks in the Oceana Marin area of Dillon Beach. We can take 4 cars in our driveway, plus one in the garage.

We sleep up to 12 in our 5 bedroom home, with 3 full baths. The house is very big, with most of it being taken up by the great room. We have Dish TV, a Wi-Fi network, DVD and VHS players and movies, and a wonderful library collection of books in almost every room.

This is one of the largest, and most beautiful vacation homes Dillon Beach has to offer. We extensively renovated the home in 2000, which marks our home as very modern and updated in contrast to many Dillon Beach vacation rentals you will find. Kitchen is a chef designed cooking heaven. There is an antique chopping block, microwave/convection oven, stove and a huge over-sized fridge with side freezer.

Walk along the hilltop to the end of the street for some of the best hiking in West Marin. Or head down the hill to spend the day at one of the best beaches in Northern California - the only dog friendly beach I know of, as well as the only one I know that will allow BarBQue's and fire pits. Watch fog roll into Bodega Head from this stunning Dillon Beach vacation rental!

Head down to the beach for a BBQ, and watch lovely sunsets. Walk along looking for seashells, bird watching, and just smelling the great ocean air. Dillon Beach is a magical place, come see why!

This home is really amazing and gorgeous! It was crafted to be a retirement dream home, so the house is really a step above a lot of the available homes here. Very comfortable and family friendly, the owners have 5 young grandchildren who often enjoy the beach house. It is also very easy to have a retreat or multi-generational gathering, plenty of room for all, plus most of the main living area is very accessible for anyone with disabilities.

Hi Lori, Our group just had a very fun time at your rental house. The house equiped everything that our group needed and much more. It was so close to the beach and had very nice view from the living room. However, it was foggy most of the time we were there so we didn't get to enjoy it that much. Only if I could control nature, right ? :-). The only downside about this place is the bathroom in the Master bedroom. It got some smell of old and damp carpet. Other than that, it is a beautiful and enjoyable place for family get together. Thanks Lori for for making our trip so enjoyable. --An

Owner response: We're so glad you enjoyed such a great Mother's Day at the beach! What a fun way to celebrate a special time all together. Thank you for letting me know about the carpet, it is being cleaned this week. We always want to keep our home up and appreciate knowing if something has gotten by our housekeeper's attention.

We stayed at the home on a last minute whim with 6 adults and 5 kids. The house was delightful and really kid friendly. AS opposed to some other homes that we've rented, this one wasn't overly laden with all kinds of fragile items that you had to be super careful about (especially with toddlers and young children). There was ample space for gathering in the common areas like the dining room and living room. There was lots of wood available for the fireplace cause it gets really windy and cold in the evening next to the coast. The beach was a 3 minute drive down the hill (could be walkable but it would be really tough for most people), but we couldn't seem to find the beach pass. So on the day we went down to the beach we ended up having to pay for parking (ranges between $5 to $7 dollars). WE couldn't seem to find the appropriate instructions in the house for beach access (which I hope the owners can look into further). There is a beautiful view of the ocean from high up the hill through most of the upper home (including a bank of windows in the living/dining rooms). The house has some really unique features which were sources of entertainment for our young kids (3-5 year olds). For example, two bedrooms are separated from the main floor by a carpeted spiral staircase. The kids enjoyed having their own 'space' but we ended up needing an adult down there at night to make sure they slept okay and didn't hurt anyone or anything. The house also has a garden (with both covered and uncovered portions) which the kids really enjoyed exploring. Lots of deer came through in the nearby open fields and there were 3 pairs of binoculars that we used. There was also a small collection of toys that entertained the kids on the last day (good for toddlers and younger children). The kitchen supplies were adequate but if you cook frequently you might want to bring your own specific tools and spices, etc.. The sheets and blankets were okay but on the older side. The towels were well-worn. Water pressure good throughout the house and all the heaters seemed up to their task. The one main area in Tomales is a 15 minute drive and includes the fabulous bakery. There is pretty limited selection in the main store. If you're on your way out to the house, I woudl probably stop at Petaluma for full groceries to stock up with. Overall, we had a very enjoyable time and would love to return to this house. Small improvements would probably make the trip even more satisfying

Owner response: We especially love family groups and children, and often are at the beach house with our 5 small grandchildren, so we like to have it comfortable. But, we also like to have our nice things around us! The beach pass should have been given to you when you checked in, sorry it wasn't. That is why we have on site rental agent. You are welcome to call either her or me whenever you have any questions or problems. Both of our contact info is in the binder and on your contract. We look forward to you returning!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the house is spacious and comfortable. The open kitchen/living room/dining room accommodated our family perfectly.

Owner response: We really enjoy the "Great Room" concept of our home. People can be cooking, while others are playing games in the dining room and others are watching TV or reading or chatting and enjoying views in the living room, but you are all close enough to be a part of everything! And if you need some space, we've got that too, the lower level family room is perfect for teenagers and kids to have their own space, or anyone who needs just a little quiet spot. And then, there's the deck or the greenhouse, too! Plenty of room for everyone.

At the beginning of each semester, my teacher friends and I get away to spend some time together to plan and prepare our lesson plans and take some time to breathe, see the bigger picture, focus on our long term goals as moms and teachers, and then we pray with and over each other so we can make it through another busy semester as moms, teachers, wives, carpool drivers, field trip coordinators, etc. My friends and I loved this location! The views of the ocean were breathtaking, the warmth of the sun on our face as we read and chatted on the deck was awesome, and the inside of the house was perfect as we could all spread out our various books in multiple places and plan without feeling like we were on top of each other. We didn't leave the house the entire time, except for a quick walk outside to get a better glimse of the ocean.....which was very windy and cold (it's January!), but quite refreshing actually! We didn't turn on the TV, or watch movies, or anything except just hang out as friends and listened to encouraging podcast messages, and use our computers and the internet to plan. I'm bringing my family back now in June and can't wait to explore the nearbye surroundings and actually go down to the ocean and take advantage of the location when it's warmer out. The house had everything you need for a great stay, and I LOVED the downstairs area....it was like my own little private suite! It was a wonderful weekend getaway and we all felt very rejuvinated after our stay there. We hope to do it again next year sometime!

Our rental experience at Almost Paradise at Dillon Beach gave our family a memorable week together! The website gave us good information to make our choice. The home was very clean, comfortable, well accommodated, had everything we needed. My communications with the owners helped me a great deal in deciding on this home. The location and view were spectacular - everything we were told it would be. Great experience overall!

Owner response: We truly do want each renter's experience to be special. We love sharing our home, and helping to create beautiful memories. We took our name from the song - "Almost Paradise, We're Knocking on Heaven's Door, Almost Paradise, How could We Ask For More?" Sort of cheesy, but we like it!

Great house for large family get together. Plenty of sleeping spaces-queen size beds would have been appreciated by some. The masterbath "tub" is very interesting. The wall painting of the tree in the upstairs bedroom is very nice. Great Views. We had to reset the heaters but once they were working kept the house very comfortable, even through it was a very windy, rainy weekend. The stairway inside the house was a challenge to the youngest and oldest people. The downstairs unit was used as a quiet place for reading and homework :). I realize you are managing this property from quite a distance-it was 24hours+ from the time we notified Carolyn that the freezer was leaking until the someone came to look at it. We did what we could to keep the water from getting on the floor. It seems like both the freezer and fridge doors do not close tightly. We really enjoyed our long weekend and hope to do it again.

Owner response: We're sorry there was a delay in having someone check on the freezer. Please don't hesitate to call us directly in case of any problems. We appreciate your ingenuity in fixing the heater! Our "crazy" stairway has been called a Dr. Suess stairway by some renters. It's painted in fun colors, and has a carpeted metal spiral staircase. There is a traditional stairway outside off the deck that may also be used. Some of what makes our home fun is the unexpected - tub, weather, outdoor geeenhouse. We're glad you enjoyed you stay!

The house was great and had a great location. We would take nature walks right outside the door and the beach was just a few minutes away. My kids loved the house, and had so much fun playing there. The location is stunning and the house is nice and clean.

Owner response: We love kids! We have some games and a few toys, too. Our fenced backyard and the greenhouse are favorites with kids. The hike to the Estero is especially awesome, just at the end of the street, don't miss it!

The house was perfect for a vacation. Lot's of room and public space for gatherings, but still compartmentalized enough for privacy. The views from the living room/back deck are absolutely incredible. House has every amenity you could need and it is well taken care of. The only issue was the distance from the beach, but providing the parking pass did a great job at remedying this issue. Really a unique house, unique beach and fantastic experience.

Owner response: We have such great views because we are at the top of the hill, but that does make a long walk back from the beach, it's true! Lots of people enjoy walking down the hill, and having someone drive down to get them, the best of both worlds!

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1999

About the owner: We first stayed at Almost Paradise as renters, in the summer of 1999. Our family had always held a family reunion at Tahoe, but that year decided on the beach. It was love at first sight! We spent a lovely week, our first visit to Dillon Beach, and by the end of the week, we had decided to buy. We were living in Santa Rosa at the time, and continued to rent it out as a vacation rental. However, after a year, we decided to make the Beach House our permanent home. We moved out to Dillon in August 2000, and began renovating and remodeling in 2001. We lived there full time until 2006, when life brought us to Orange County. We now enjoy sharing our home again and hosting families, couples and groups in what we consider to be the most beautiful place on earth! We know you will enjoy your visit.

Why the Owner Chose Dillon Beach:
Dillon Beach is a magical place. Many people have come here to heal from injury, bond with their families, and enjoy the beauty of Dillon Beach's landscape. There is indeed an energy that can be felt upon arrival, and when we visited this town for the first time years ago for a family reunion, we felt it, and decided to move here. Almost Paradise is a comfortable family home, decorated with our collections of antiques, art, quilts and books. Yet, we are perfectly set up for kids and teenagers, as well as a corporate retreat group. We encourage you to use our collection of dishes and glassware to enjoy a beautiful dining experience. Or, you can just as easily bring paper plates and still enjoy the beauty of the home.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Relaxing on top of a mountain overlooking the Bay and the ocean is an experience in and of itself. With an incredible beach just down the hill, leisurely walks in the neighborhood, and great hiking just a block away, this house serves the needs of all who enter. There is enough room in the house for everyone to have their own space, or gather all together in the Great Room area or the deck. We even have a crazy 'Dr. Suess' stairway down to the lower level where there are 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom and a family room.
