I have very fond memories of days spent at beautiful Keuka Lake . This summer we decided that it was time to see if we could recapture some of the magic of those memories. We were so lucky to have found CANATHUS COTTAGE. Yes, it really is as lovely and charming as it appears in the photos. The cottage was immaculate. And Sarah and Murray have provided everything that you could possibly need to help you feel right at home. What the photos cannot convey is the feeling of warmth and serenity that you experience while relaxing on the upper deck, or just sitting at the end of the deck surrounded by the beautiful view. Unlike some other properties you really are lakeside-not across the road-not way up on a hill. But don’t forget to enjoy the water activities as well. There is access from the shore as well as from the dock. Water shoes are a must. The bottom is rocky and unfortunately the zebra mussels have invaded the waters. The East Lake side location is ideal as is the proximity to all the local attractions and wineries. Be sure to check out locals favorites- Mac’s Dairy Bar and the specialty foods at Oak Hill Bulk Foods on 14A near Penn Yan. Sarah is wonderful to work with. She promptly answered the many questions and concerns that I had before actually seeing the property. You can tell that she and Murray have a special place in their hearts for Canathus Cottage. Their pride shows through in all the little details. We found our magical cottage in Canathus and look forward to returning soon. Thank you Sarah and Murray.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It was wonderful to be back on Keuka Lake again this summer. The property photos accurately portray the Canathus cottage rooms, and the property is as described. There are quite a few stairs from the road down to the cottage, which does hinder carrying luggage. I would recommend this property to friends, as we love its location on the lake.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I spent a week here with my parents and absolutely fell in love with this cottage! First of all, we loved how spotless and organized everything was inside the cottage, labelling and all! Everything you will need is here. The location is spectacular - close to everything you would want to do or see around Keuka and beyond. Besides that, the location of the cottage itself is on a wide, quiet road where we spent many early mornings going for runs with an absolutely beautiful view along the way. I think the best part of our entire stay were the beautiful mornings and sunset evenings enjoying coffee or wine on the upper deck, lower deck and private dock. The view is amazing from all angles. This was a very special place where we made very special memories and we are very much looking forward to returning!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Three couples we were heading to NY for some wine tours, but mostly to unwind and relax from some very stressful jobs. What a wonderful place to pick. Not only were we able to unwind, but we had a beautiful view both inside and out and spent a great night sipping wine and sitting by the fire pit enjoying the stars and hearing the water lap against the dock. The place was immaculate and we felt right at home. Definitely plan to do it again next year. Sarah Hestley, the owner is a delightful person to talk with and she made us feel very welcome to share her home and all it's beautiful advantages.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had a great time during our stay at Canathus Cottage. The information on the listing was very accurate and the cottage turned out to be even better than I'd expected. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was very well supplied. My son (now 17) even had fun using the pancake shaper one morning - something he hadn't done in many years! We found the location great. Of course it was lake side, but it was also conveniently located to many nice restaurants - we tended to head toward Hammondsport - about 10 -15 minutes away. We also enjoyed the scenery at Watkins Glen State Park - about 30 minutes away. The owners were very helpful and easy to communicate with about any/all questions we had before our stay. I hope to return again as the area has lots to offer and I'd enjoy seeing it during other seasons too. If we do, Canathus cottage would definitely be one we would stay at again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time vacationing on Keuka Lake this Year. Took our kids our boat, and did lots of wakeboarding, tubing,fishin,ect..The House is perfect. Great location. The cover porch with rocking chairs was a popular sitting place. Also we loved the Chairs on the dock too. One place for sun and one for shade. We would highly recommend this house to rent for a week long summer vacation. The place was so clean and neat. The kids ofcourse took advantage of the available Wifi for the computers,ect....Again we can't say enough good things about Canathus Cottage.....Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a very relaxing week at Canathus Cottage with our family. The cottage was spotless and extremely well stocked with all necessities (cooking, towels/sheets/everything) The view is superb and this is a a very quiet portion of the lake, which was great. The boys enjoyed fishing from the dock, using the firepit at night and kayaking in the lake. We enjoyed visiting the wineries nearby- Dr. Frank's, MacGregor and Heron Hill to name a few. Sarah is a very committed owner and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great week at the cottage. We plan on returning in the future!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a beautiful house-the house is as it appears in the photos. It was clean and comfortable, and has a washer/dryer that come in handy! We enjoyed the dock everynight and swimming at the lake. Just bring some water shoes as it is rocky walking into the water. We would definitely stay again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed here last year, it was wonderful! The cottage was clean and the beds are very comfortable. We loved the lake view from the top porch, it was very serene. We also enjoyed having all the little wineries around, we had fun exploring most of them. We would definitely go back here again, as a matter of fact, we are going back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cottage is right on the water, no roads to cross to carry your gin and tonic down to the dock to watch the sun set. The swimming is great as it is deep at the end of the dock. We are not boaters so we cannot comment on that, but we love the winerys on the East side of Keuka Lake so this cottage is closest to my favorite, Ravines. The inside of the cottage is thoughtfully furnished with everything you could want. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen very useful.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We did it all on our vacation in the finger lakes. We relaxed on the deck with morning coffee, swam from the dock, went Kayaking, and water skiing. The cottage was comfortable and quiet with great views of the lake. We loved being so close to the water. We also enjoyed visiting the many wineries in the area. We would definitely love to spend more vacations at this cottage, it was great. Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
