  It was cloudy and rainy for our entire stay, but we still enjoyed ourselves. The house is exactly as described. We didn't use the hot tub, as the frogs were using it too, but our three year old found this fascinating. He even loved fishing off the dock in the backyard. Our last night there, we had the amazing privilege of seeing a double rainbow over the bay. (Michelle, if you want the pictures, let me know.) Since we live year round on a barrier island in New Jersey we wanted to see how other locals live in a tourist trap. OBX is exactly like home, expensive but so worth it. Take some time to venture to both ends. We went to Rodanthe and took pictures of the house in the "Nights at Rodanthe" and had some amazing good at Surfer Dudes Kitchen (highly recommend). We also found love in Duck on the north end. We will be coming back next year or in the fall, if Michelle will have us again. Take a chance on Currituck BBQ and even Diggers Restaurant for breakfast. We never got a chance to eat at Frog Island, but its down the street. Oh and stop at Morris Farm Market! So amazing! Sample everything and then buy everything, it's so worth it. Thanks again Michelle for being a great host and providing us with a clean and welcoming home, frogs and all!

  What a wonderful week of relaxation we just returned home from! The house is located on a dead end road with no traffic and the view from the living room is so soothing...even with several rainy days it didn't matter. We enjoyed playing pool, using the hot tub and took in so many local sites indoor and out. Michelle is a wonderfu host who is available at the drop of a hat and very accommodating... We did the 4 wheel drive horse tour in Corolla...worth it; Jockey State Park sand dunes....gorgeous; a few brewery/wine tastings; a very cool store Lammers Glassworks and Antiques, it will take you hours if you are into the eclectic and antiques, a great way to spend a rainy day; Okracoke Island...be sure to check ferry schedules before you leave, but it is so worth the trip over! And did I say hot tub!!! We can't wait to return! Thank you Michelle for a vacation that exceeded our expectations! Darlene and Rick

  Although this was a working trip it was a relaxing "vacay". The home was nicely kept. The views, sunrises and sunsets were wonderful. Could not have asked for more.

  We had a wonderful time. Slipped out a week before hurricane Sandy made her arrival. We enjoyed the NC sunrises and sunsets each day. Of course, we shopped till we dropped, ate like pigs from the local seafood, BBQ places, fresh markets, and made the drive from Currituck to Ocracoke Island. The location and accommodations were perfect. Plenty of space, plenty of character, far enough out of the way to avoid tourist traffic, close enough to be in the tourist areas in 20 minutes. We are nation-wide travel nurses, but this was our first REAL vacation in 4 years. You really helped make it special! Thank you for providing us with a wonderful place to stay for our week of vacation. Special thanks from Tink and Zeus for being “pet-friendly”. We really wish the cottage had a facebook page for us to post pictures.

  This is the place for some well needed down time. Beautiful view from the deck, the house was clean and stocked with things to do..We spent the day at the outer banks and then came back to the house to grill and enjoy the hot tub...would stay here again thanks for sharing your home

  The view is incredible. The home is very accomodating for guests. At evening time there was such a wonderful breeze. Our family loves the outer banks however it can be so busy this time of year. This home is about 1/2 hour to the entrance so it is away from the intense congestion. We loved staying in Barco because it was so fun to meet the locals. We did so much. We went canoeing, swimming in Carova.(outer banks) If you have 4 wheel drive it is great to drive right onto the beach. While we were in carova we saw dolphins. There is a seafood market right at the end of the street and a YMCA right down the road that is fantastic for young kids. The owners were very easy to contact if had any questions. The kids just loved catching the crabs and the seafood restaurant at the end of the street gave us some bait.

  Our stay was excellent. The house was all we expected it to be. sad but true we had a storm arrive before us so the yard was a little water logged. The kids had a great time as well as my wife and I. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet peaceful vacation.

  We are a family of 4 who were EXTREMELY LUCKY to have found this place for our first vacation rental :) This home is and has everything you need (amenities as well as kitchen items, games, etc..). We enjoyed the jacuzzi with the GORGEOUS VIEW, the perfect temperature and calmness of the sound by swimming, fishing and crabbing (cough 3 dozen crabs). Took a couple of days to sight see the many beautiful places this area has such as The Bodie Island Lighthouse, Visited North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, Jockey's Ridge Sand Dunes at Kill Devil's Hills, The Wright Brothers Memorial, and took a ride on the Knotts island Ferry for free :) Enjoyed fabulous vegetables and fruits from all the farmer's markets around and even grilled out!! And if we had decided to just stay in (which was out of the question for us lol) the house is equipped with EVERYTHING you can think of! They have games, movies, DVD, video games, pool table, and open and stylish decorated ambient!! Wish I could put pictures here because words just don't do it justice! Thank you to the owner who was so sweet and very helpful with lots of information! DEFINITELY PLANNING TO GO BACK!!! :-)

  5 stars doesn't do this place justice! We stayed here 3 days for our honeymoon and we loved it! Clean and comfortable with everything you need! Morning canoe trips, crabbing, hot tub, big yard. Bout a 20 minute drive to the outer banks which was great for us! Loved being away from everything but far enough that it seemed like a long trip to the beach and restaurants and different attractions. Definitely will stay again. Absolutely wonderful!

  We stayed at this property 5-7-12 through 5-14-12. The owners are nice and so is the cottage. It is exactly as represented. It was neat and clean. It is off the beaten path and it certainly isn't around a lot of attractions. It is peaceful and relaxing and the view of the Currituck Sound is lovely. 30 minutes drive to the outer banks and it would be a lot more during the peak season. Don't be negatively swayed by the people who complained about the furniture it is fine. It is a cottage not a five star hotel. We had a blast catching blue crabs off the dock. We caught all we wanted. They are fun to catch but a pain to clean and eat. The outer banks are overdeveloped. The only exception is the National Seashore area. If you like miles of swim wear shops and restaurants and tourist stuff you will like it. It wasn't for us. We liked Roanoke Island much better especially Fort Raleigh and the Elizabeth Gardens. Drive down to Wanchese and visit the fishing area you won't find fresher or better fish anywhere. There is also great stuff at Frog Island Seafood just a couple hundred yards away from the cottage. If you want a laid back quite place this is a good choice. We enjoyed watching the boats traveling the intercoastal waterway in the evening while enjoying a cocktail. There is also lots of bird watching opportunities right at the cottage.
