The best B&B we have visited
The best B&B we have visited
We have been to many B&Bs, but this one is really the best so far. It was recommended to us by friends in Houston, but we also checked other B&Bs on the Internet before we made our decision. It was elegant, very clean and spacious. We had two bedrooms and a large back porch that had almost Roman proportions, so we felt as if we were living a a home of our own. It was decorated with beautiful Mexican and colonial art and furniture, and the beds were very comfortable. We were served a delicious breakfast every morning on the porch and found that it was also the perfect place for reading and relaxing. The B&B is located away from the center of town, so we were spared all the noises during the night. Taxis were $3 into town and there were also buses. The owner, Linda, was very helpful and we became instant friends. She has a wonderful staff of four, who have been with her for many years. We had cable TV with CNN, etc., WiFi and we made free calls to Houston on Linda's phone. Linda is a very good cook and gave me some terrific recipes. This was a good time to visit San Miguel as it was very nice and cool compared to Houston. We would definitely recommend this B&B to our friends and family.

Owner response: Walmy and Eric were wonderful guests and I enjoyed having them stay in my casita. We had fun exchanging book titles and they graciously invited me out to dinner. I loved that they enjoyed relaxing and reading on the patio, playing with my dogs and their time in San Miguel. And, I really appreciate their kind words. Thanks so much, Linda

About the owner: My hometown of Austin, Texas spawned my passion for good food. While in my 20’s, a friend and I started a small catering company. I later developed 3 restaurants in Austin. In 1990, my husband and I moved to a farm between Austin and Houston. It was there that I began my career as an event planner by planning, coordinating and producing weddings and events. In 2002, after completing our house and casita in San Miguel, a friend and I launched Celebrations San Miguel, an Events company which I still manage. San Miguel has proved to be the perfect setting for unforgettable events!
Why the Owner Chose Colonia Allende:
After a life-long love affair with Mexico, my husband and I were looking for a place to retire, we visited friends who owned a house in San Miguel. We loved the colors, climate, culture, arts and people of San Miguel. We returned to San Miguel to decide whether San Miguel was the place for us. Like so many North Americans before us, we succumbed to the magic of San Miguel, we bought our house and an adjoining lot. We developed the casita, covered patio (portico) and the garden for our guests and family. I love the wide street and proximity to Parque Juarez, shopping & restaurants.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our guests tell me that their favorite part of staying at Casita Cinco de Mayo is having breakfast, lounging, taking siestas, reading and playing games under the portico. The concierge services expertly arranged by house manager, Alfredo, are another guest favorite.
