Villa Dionysia, which is located in the Turkish Quarter of the Old Town of Chania. has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and access to the roof terrace, from where there will be panoramic views of the Old Harbour as well as the White Mountains.
Villa Dionysia is considered to be one of the best renovation projects around the Old Town of Chania, as it was described by people walking by, including students from the Architectural Department of the University of Crete.
The house was purchased in 2007, and due to its location and the history behind it had to obtain a great number of permits from both the Archaeological Department and the Building Authorities of Chania before renovations could begin, so the renovation of the villa started only in October 2008 and it took place in three different stages, with last and largest one starting in March 2010. During the renovation, we replaced almost everything in the house, but we kept its historic and traditional character and tried to match it with some modern features and facilities such as the roof garden. The old flat terrace had not been used much in the past and it wasn’t until we climbed up there and saw how beautiful the views were, so we decided to make the most from it. Now, one can have panoramic views to the Venetian Harbour; the White Mountains and across the Old Town of Chania.
Internally the house looks incredible. The plan was to show all the old stone features, including all old stone window sills; all the stone work around all doors and windows as well as new and old arches. The internal north side stone wall of the building remains at its original state. All these stone works are accompanied by real oak wooden floors in the 3 bedrooms and the living room; travertine/marble bathrooms, limestone floors in the kitchen and the lounge areas; fine-looking custom made oak kitchen and wardrobes as well as cast iron hand made staircase and light fittings. The terrace with the spectacular views to the harbour and across the old Turkish Quarter and Saint Nicholas church are covered with limestone; and have a sitting/sunbathing area for relaxation surrounded by mature trees; jasmine and bougainvillea. Due to its location (on three corners) the villa has light and fresh air from three sides.
The ground floor consists of one bathroom and a storage area; the first floor consists of the master bedroom and the master bathroom; the second bedroom and a sitting area, and the second floor consists of the third bedroom, and the open-plan lounge, living area and kitchen. It also has access to the roof terrace with glass-roof entrance.
The master bedroom will has a king size bed; a large vanity unit; oak wardrobes and bed-side cabinets, whereas the second bedroom, which used to be the old kitchen has a double bed; a large vanity unit, which used to be the old stone baking oven; oak wardrobes and bed-side cabinets. Finally, the third bedroom has two single beds; wardrobes and a bed side cabinet between the two beds. All bedrooms have wi-fi internet, satellite TVs; A/C units; electric heaters and beddings.
In the living room the villa has a large plasma satellite TV; an iPod docking system; DVD player; A/C; electric heater and a gas stove. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee-maker, dish-washer, washing machine and a big fridge-freezer.
All bathrooms are fully equipped with a shower (in both rooms), and a bathtub in the master bathroom. In both bath rooms we have electric heated towel rails.
The roof terrace is furnished with sun-beds, settees and a dining table with chairs.
Parking is also available in the small square next to the house.
The villa is within a very short walking distance to the port as well as three small sandy beaches in the Koum Kapi area (east of the Venetian Harbour) and about fifteen minutes’ walk to the beach at Nea Hora, which has a fantastic marina (west of the Venetian Harbour).

We've recently stayed at villa Dionysia for 5 lovely days. The house was excellent, full equipped, clean, perfect location (only 2 minutes walk from center of the old town), very quiet though through the night! Also a lovely roof garden for relaxing and sunbathing. Special thanks to Andreas!!! I recently stayed in this lovely apartment with a group of girlfriends for a long weekend. The apartment exceeded our expectations and was in a fabulous location. We were able to walk to the harbour, around the town, the market, and all the restaurants we wanted to eat at. The rooftop terrace alone is worth booking this apartment. We spent several hours each day on the terrace sunbathing, reading, and eating. Andreas was beyond helpful with organizing our trip, our transportation to and from the airport, and was waiting for us upon our arrival at the apartment. Further, we accidentally left a cell phone in the taxi and Andreas personally found us to return it. None of us wanted to leave Chania on the day of our departure and this great apartment definitely had something to do with that. I would absolutely stay here again for as long as possible.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

This villa has to be seen to be believed! The location is superb, being in the Turkish quarter of the Old Town, and just 5 or so minutes walk to the heart of the old port. Alexandra from Cretan Life could not do enough to make our stay wonderful, including meeting us at 10pm at night to let us in after a late evening flight, dropping back to fix light bulbs and give us laundry power (the washing machine is a bonus) and even guiding us out of the old town on her moped to put us on the right track for a visit to a local beach!!! The villa itself is exceptionally well equipped, has excellent kitchen facilities and the rooftop area is just an added bonus to drink in the atmosphere of the old town whether it's for breakfast or a late night drink. We really cannot fault this place - stay here and you will be delighted. Just a few practical things to know...it's not suitable for very young kids as the stairs are steep and close to the upstairs bedroom which has the two single beds. Also, the villa is blessed with off street parking (a total rarity in the old town) but it's tricky to find so make sure if you hire a car you either do it through the owner or give them very good directions on how to get to you. Overall though, we give Villa Dionysia, and everyone from Cretan life (and especially Alexandra) an 11 out of 10, and we are hard markers. :-)Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I recently returned from a trip to Crete and had the pleasure of staying at Villa Dionysia with my 5 friends. The house is beautifully decorated with everything you could need. A few of us were on an extended trip, so the washing machine was a real treat. The bathrooms were very well appointed, MUCH larger showers than you usually see in Europe. When we weren't out exploring Chania, we spent most of our time up on that gorgeous roof top deck! Plenty of room to lay out for some sun, sit around and visit, and hang our clothes out to dry. We had one small problem trying to get the DVD player to work (user error) and Andreas came over promptly to help us sort it out. I would highly recommend this rental property, the home is perfectly sized for a group of 6, the service provided by Andreas was prompt and friendly, and the location was great for dining and exploring Chania.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway.

We loved this property!! It is in a charming old section of Chania, quiet & authentic, yet just a few minutes walk from everything. Tiny streets, away from the crazy touristy streets, lots of local residents living around and beautifully renovated inside..... We especially loved the roof garden. The manager, Andreas, is amazingly helpful & responsive. He answered all our questions promptly & gave us lots of helpful advice & tips on what to do. We would recommend this place with no hesitation whatsoever.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family and I recently stayed at this beautifully renovated villa in Chania. The location is excellent for the harbour, beach, bars and restaurants as well as Chania town centre. The Villa has been beautifully renovated with lots of traditional features and luxurious fittings and furniture. We loved the roof terrace with its views over Chania and spent some lovely evenings up there. The house felt extremly homely and Andreas and his team did a great job making sure our stay was an extremely enjoyable one. I would definitely recommend this villa to anyone who wants to experience real Chania living in a stunning cretan house where everything was new and very luxurious.and an excellent location! I have been privileged to watch this ambitious renovation project unfold over the past year. From walking through the shell of the structure talking to the workmen, to watching the talented artisans bring this historic building to new life - it's been an amazing journey. Taking a centuries old building and turning it into a tasteful showpiece that is suitable for modern luxurious living is a labour of love. Preserving the charm of the historical elements while ensuring the comfort of the guests is something these owners do well. The neighbourhood is delightful - just steps away from the historic harbour and Chania's excellent seafood tavernas and a quick jaunt to the market, the shopping district and close to museums and other historic points of interest in the town. Quiet, safe, clean .... an excellent home base for visitors to Chania. Superb service from the management company. About the owner: I am an entrepreneur with a passion for interior design, which is reflected in the renovation project of Villa Dionysia. I have 4 children and i am currently based in Cheshire. I enjoy travelling to Crete and have a second home here. I have been visiting Crete since 2002.
