Amazing week kayaking and more
Amazing week kayaking and more
Just spent a week here with my husband and grown children. We loved the home and location. My brother had rented a home on the other side of channel so we would kayak and swim and jet ski between homes it was great. Wonderful place to have family time relax and enjoy the beautiful water of the keys . Snorkeling was amazing at Looe Key. Planning on going back next year. Thanks Peg for your kindness next year I hope we can have that snorkel trip together.

This listing met my expectations and then some. We have been comming down for mini lobster season for years and this place was great. Just up the road is a Tiki bar one can walk to. The dock handled a 27 foot boat with ease. We were a party of 4 adults with 3 kids and found the listing very comfortable. Easy access to load and offload the boat at a local ramp for free. Peg could not have been easier to deal with and was very accessable by phone / email. We had such a good time we booked already for next mini season. Not to brag but we limited out on the 1'st day by 10:30. Views, comfort, key life style and hospitality what more can you ask for! Thanks again Peg.

Wow diver10! I have been coming to this house for about 10 years and every time there is improvements The TV upgrade was nice a couple years ago and the living room furniture was changed out. Water is not an issue, even with a group in the house. Between showering, rinsing gear, etc, never ran out of water even in the middle of a drought. The cleaning crew has always done a good job of having the house clean on arrival. They have also been fair when we left the house a mess, which isn't nice to do but we were in a hurry to leave a couple of times. This the kind of place where you go to get in touch with Florida keys living. Comfortable house with great views. I come to this listing to keep me going at work until I have the chance to come back! Mangroves are part of the keys, no getting rid of them. Maybe diver10 should stay at the Sheraton in Key West

Stayed at the home for the week of July 4th. The owner seems nice enough, but be forewarned that the cleaning company used for this house is very nit picky. We mopped floors, did all the laundry as asked, and still there were some very minor basic cleaning tasks that were cited so that more of our deposit was kept. Overall, the house is pretty average. It hasn't seen any updating since the 80's probably, there's no cable for the TV, and it runs off a cistern water collection system (rain water) which isn't advertised. So if there's no storms while you're there, you may run out of water. A lot of the views from the balconies are obstructed by mangroves. Just be aware of the issues. Its ok for diving.

Manager response: This would have been a very positive review but one little glitch turned it bad. The tenant was happy until the cleaning crew charged for additional hours. The tenant objected to this charge. We looked into the matter and ultimately decided to issue a FULL refund to the tenant. We do our best to make our tenants happy. While we welcome constructive criticism and helpful feedback, we also ask that tenants please leave accurate comments. That said, there are a few other misunderstandings we would like to clarify. 1. The cable TV and internet services are provided by Comcast. The tenant did not mention that it did not work. It was in working order before and after his stay. There has never been a complaint about the TV -37 inch Vizio flat screen- or the cable service. 2. The cistern holds over 14,000 gallons and is maintained at 9,000 gallons or more at all times. That is enough to provide water for several months. We do not depend on rain or storms. Cistern water is purer and softer than local city water. There is a reverse osmosis water purification system. There has never been an issue. 3. The views from the balconies in the pictures are current. There are views in different directions from various balconies: over the harbor, canal, salt pond and, at a distance, open ocean. 4. The home has been continuously updated. From Tenant: Sent: Tuesday, July 10, 2012 3:42 AM Subject: RE:Hope you had a safe trip... Thanks! What was your mailing address again for the keys? We used the grill once, turned it all off, and the propane seemed full. Ill be sure to write a nice review after we tie up the last odds and ends. Excerpt from Tenants message: Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2012 10:15 PM I do not want to be nasty because we did have a lovely stay with no hitches, but if you take the word of this lazy cleaning lady trying to stick me up for another $75, then ill have to leave a comment saying so on vrbo. Again this tenant was happy until the cleaning fee was incurred. As a good faith gesture the money was refunded prior to the posting of his review.

My family of 7 stayed at this house for 9 days and found it to be very comfortable and had everything that we needed. With it's 3 different balconies you have a view from every direction from sunrise to beautiful sunsets. It is close to picnic Island and Looe Key reef. If you love the keys you will love this house it is very Keyzzz and the last house on the point so you have a dirrect shot out, no canals or bridges. Don't forget to visit No Name Pub on Big Pine, the food and key deer are great. You are also 26 miles to Key West and Mallory Square. We would love to stay here again sometime.

About: I am a marine geophysicist who designed and built this unique house.
Why Ramrod Key:
The dolphin fish + lobster are plentiful; scuba diving is great in the Newfound Harbor Sanctuary. The water is much clearer, the reefs are in better shape + less crowded than in the upper keys. There is lots of cultural and sporting events in the area.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We are next to 3 tidal lakes with blue crabs in them. The osprey, heron, iguana + key deer are visible daily. Just relaxing on the balcony is wonderful. We have a small picnic island just out the canal where locals gather. Free live entertainment is occasionally provided. We are a short boat ride to the international resort, 'Little Palm Island.'
