Nestled in the 150 acre Redland Plantation, Simplicity Cottage offers total privacy for visitors who want to experience true island life while on Barbados. The 1,100 s.f. cottage, set at an altitude of 1,000 feet above most island hotels, enjoys cool breezes night and day. The open floor plan features ceiling fans and window louvres to enhance the natural breeze in every room. The veranda features a hammock and ample room for dining and entertaining. Step outside your door into the many flower gardens and help yourself to cut flowers for every room. Relax as you watch the green monkeys feed on the jungle and listen to the treefrogs and cicadas sing in the evening. Paradise all around for you to enjoy.
While you may feel thousands of miles from civilization, the plantation shop is within walking distance where you can purchase seasonal vegetables and shop specialties. And easy drive provides countless restaurants, shops, beaches, and entertainment.
Plantation life offers many opportunities to explore the beautiful surroundings. Hiking is a favorite and is always an adventure. Every direction from the cottage offers opportunity! To the west are the more populated beaches highlighted by the super luxurious Sandy Lane Beach a mier 20 minutes from Simplicity Cottage. Ten minutes to the east, the ruggedly beautiful Cattlewash Beach and natural Bath Beach are less crowded and more private. Enterprise Beach, called Miami Beach by the locals, is on the south coast and is a favorite for walking and shelling. ALL beaches in Barbados offer public access so you will have no trouble visiting each of the areas - just make sure you stay on the island long enough to enjoy them all!
So come, enjoy the safe and comfortable country life of the plantation and the five family homes. Hike the fields, jungles and gulleys, just swing in the hammock and watch the yellow birds and hummingbirds feed. Explore the island on foot and by car - just always remember,downhill takes you to the coast and uphill takes you inland.

My husband and I visited this cottage for 2 weeks in May. Since we were on a plantation and around several locals, we were given great advice about what we could do. A few of our favorites were the zipline, which was around 10 minutes away (if you don't get lost), Crane Beach on the East coast which was my husbands favorite beach because of the waves, my personal favorite beach, Miami Beach (Enterprise Beach) on the south coast, a great local hangout, great beach. Make sure you stop by the bus for fish cakes and the best rum punch on the island. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Most importantly we felt very safe and enjoyed the non-touristy feel.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Property is gorgeous. Simplicity is the perfect name for cottage. The most relaxing place ever vacationed. The porch overlooks plantation. Temperature is perfect....cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons. Property being in the center of island...you can be anywhere in 15 to 20 minutes. In addition, there is a market on property with wonderful vegetables and homemade sweets including the best fruit juices you will ever drink. Cottage is spotless and equipped with everything you might need. Highly recommend if you are looking for relaxation and adventure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Andy and Sharon have primary residence in Greensboro NC USA and Simplicity Cottage for 3 to 4 months of each year. Sharon grew up in West Virginia but has adapted very well to the island lifestyle. Andy grew up in Barbados until age 7. His family moved to the US but continued to spend as much time as possible on the island with family and friends. Andy considers himself a native and hopes to someday make Barbados his full time home once again.
