It was not a good time for my friends to come to Boston as April 19th was hard for everyone in Boston. People were all asked to stay at home, and the public transportation was stopped all day, and my friends were trapped in airport. Marsha and Dave were so nice and helpful and picked my friends to their condo. The condo is so beautiful, clean, comfortable, quiet and has all kitchen things! We could cook any food we would like to eat. Though my friends don't have the other friends in Boston, they felt so welcome and enjoyed such a wonderful holiday. The most I appreciate is that Marsha and Dave are so wonderful and generous. As my friends made some mistakes when they left, Marsha and Dave still forgave them. My friends and I all feel so ashamed for our mistakes and we really wanted to say sorry and thank you very much! It is a really wonderful choice if you would like to travel around Boston for days, especially for people without a car, as it is not far away from the Ashmont Station on the red line, which is the oldest line in Boston and goes through Boston, MIT and Harvard!

This suite is a great getaway for those looking for a quiet, private, homey condo with easy access to Boston. The suite was very clean and comfortable, and had a relaxing and cozy feel. The kitchen is supplied with utensils and appliances for easy use. We appreciated the details in the suite that made it homey, from extra quilts to books and magazines to comfy pillows and blankets. Great stay!

This rental property worked out perfect for our family on our recent trip to Boston. The property was very clean & well - maintained. The listing description & photos were both accurate. Our family enjoyed a nice cozy, clean, comfortable Thanksgiving away from our home to be with our boys attending a college nearby. It was a perfect location for sightseeing, and was in very close proximity to the college where our boys are freshmen. Marsha & Dave were very helpful and professional. We especially liked all the pamphlets & maps they had in the kitchen. We even made a trip to Plymouth to eat on Thanksgiving. My Mom from California met us in Boston, and she was able to visit with her grandsons and stay with us. It was a very special trip. Marsha & Dave went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We will look forward to staying at this property when we go back to Boston in the near future. We would highly recommend it to our friends & relatives. We had homemade ice cream at a nearby shop and there is a grocery store very close. My husband went running on the trail they had listed in a notebook on the kitchen table. It was also nice that we were able to park in the long driveway, as street parking is hard to come by in Boston. We were very close to the airport also. Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your beautiful place.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Owner response: I agree, our place was ideal for Jerry and Kim being that we are in a great location for the typical tourist interests but also near the college that their boys attend. Just south of downtown Boston, one can go north or south with great ease and the airport is a very short drive as well. Another advantage of our location are all the numerous and varied shops and businesses; every thing that you might possibly need with in a short and interesting stroll. We make every effort to put our guests first and think of their comfort and enjoyment. From our our fully equipped kitchen which makes you feel, just like you are at home, our cozy, cheerful living area with it's cranberry love seat sectional to our new, plush and comfortable mattresses and beautiful bedding, every detail is considered. A rare commodity in Boston is our free, off street parking. Because we are with in minutes of public transportation, it isn't necessary to have a car but great to have if that is your preference. We hope you will allow us to make your time in Boston even more enjoyable and memorable. Our rates are very competitive.

My husband and another couple from Phoenix stayed at this property in Oct 2012. It was clean, comfortable and a great location for day trips into Boston and to Quincy ( Don't miss the Old House in Quincy for a fascinating glimpse back in John Adam's life, library, and home). Marsha and her husband were warm and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was great to come home to and cook in the evening and for breakfast. After a long day of sight seeing it was so nice to come back relax and watch TV or play cards in the comfortable living room and dining area. The pictures totally reflect the lovely rooms. The steep stairs would be the only drawback for some. We used the North Quincy T station to travel into Boston and I would recommend checking the T websites and traffic alerts before traveling. Yes the Boston traffic is tough by car, but we found leaving after 9:30 AM helped. It is minutes by car to the Logan airport, JFK Memorial Library and to groceries and laundry facilities. I heartily recommend the property for anyone who wants to stay out of the noise and traffic of downtown Boston and day trip by the T. We had a great experience for our first time using VRBO:)

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: We are so fortunate to have such wonderful guests. Dixie, Brad and their friends were such a delight to have. Brad even went the extra mile and helped us move some furniture. What a kind and generous spirit. We didn't realize that this was their first VRBO experience but I am so pleased that they enjoyed themselves. They did a great job of planning their days and getting around to see so many sites. I had never thought about using the Quincy T station but it is a great idea for those who want to have their car waiting for them at the end of the day. Thanks for the great suggestion. It is our desire that all of our guests feel right at home, so we are so pleased when we hear such reports.

Our stay in Marsha’s condo was wonderful. I agree that the pictures don’t do it justice. The condo was warm and cozy (which we much appreciated given that it was quite cold outside) and had everything we needed for our stay. We spent most of our stay visiting Boston but there were also a lot of shops and restaurants close to the condo. Marsha provided a list of shops and location that came in very handy when we had to go grocery shopping and to dinner in the area one night. The condo is very close to Boston – 10 minute drive max if you use a car (which we did – parking underneath Boston Commons is the cheapest we could find, especially on the week-end). The condo was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and there were extra blankets in case they were needed. I truly have nothing bad to stay about the condo or our stay there. I was a bit concerned at first about the idea of leaving our car keys in a box on the stairs but the stairs are inside and out of reach so I never felt like we were at risk. Before we got there, Marsha responded to all questions in a very timely manner and provided detailed instructions for our arrival. A great experience all-around!

Owner response: We are always so pleased when our guests have enjoyed their stay. It was our goal to make our condo warm, cheerful, clean and tastefully decorated. So we are glad that goal was achieved. Our guests are our number one consideration when preparing each room in our condo, from the plentiful brochures, plush bedding, to our fully equipped kitchen. Every effort is made to be prompt and informative in our communication so that their experience is a positive one. The location of our property to Boston is ideal in that we are close enough to make the commute to important sites with ease, yet quiet and restful because we are nestled in a quaint community, with our own interesting and varied shops, just south of downtown Boston. We have everything you might want or need within a short walk of the condo. Many of our guests have commented on how much they have enjoyed their strolls through the neighborhood to find homemade ice cream, antics, the historical, Baker's Chocolate Factory, eateries, parks, a river, waterfall, bike and jogging trail, farmer's market, trolley ride, pharmacy, banks and supermarket, just to name a few. Just minutes by car or a short walk to public transportation, making it optional but unnecessary to have a car. A rare commodity in Boston, is our free, off street parking which is why we ask our guest to leave a set of keys in a secure location should their car need to be moved and no one is available (almost like having valet service). We hope we have piqued your interest and that you will allow us to make your time in Boston even more enjoyable, relaxing, restful and memorable.

We came over from Scotland for a break in Boston and New England and choose the apartment as our base for the Boston leg of our trip. We soon realised we’d made a great choice. The apartment has a very traditional, authentic American feel to it and is immaculately clean. Things like bedding and towels etc. are of the highest standard and the apartment is spacious and well appointed. The location is very quiet, yet close to required amenities. Lower Mills is a nice suburb town with an industrial history that is attracting new investment in homes, shopping (good new supermarket) and cafes, all within comfortable walking distance. Getting to Boston is straightforward and fun, by using the train system to avoid road traffic. All in all, this is a fine rental option, made particularly special by Marsha who was gracious, warm and very helpful. We’ll definitely be back. Mike and Irene Fitzpatrick, Balloch, Scotland. Owner response: I can't say enough wonderful things about Mike and Irene. They were so caring and friendly, you would have thought they were the condo owners. I have had a lot of great people as guests but they are at the top of my list. We try to give our guests complete privacy, especially since the rental is above our home but Mike and Irene made me feel like more than just an owner. They invited me in several times and offered me refreshments. In the process of handing over some tourist information, I had gathered, we had a chance to get to know a little bit about each other and I must say, theirs was fascinating. Thank you Mike and Irene for making me feel like more than a VRBO owner. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your time in Boston and your choice of accommodations. I surely hope to see you again and thank you for the invitation should we ever be in your neck of the woods.

We stayed for the month of July 2012 Dave and Marsha were excellent host and made us feel very welcome at their Condo. We were so please that we are going back again in December. It was a good location for trips into Boston with the T being 3 blocks away. Stairs were a little steep leading into the Condo., But did not present any real problems. A very well equipped apartment.

Our stay in this property was fantastic! We stayed for the entire month of June 2012. The condo is extremely clean, well-equipped, and convenient. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The T-line is a short walk, and it can take you anywhere you want to go in the greater Boston area. The owners were accommodating and welcoming. We were very comfortable here, and would not hesitate to recommend it. We will be back if ever in the area again.

We stayed for a week in this lovely condo while house hunting in the suburbs south of Boston. While I can't comment on the condo's proximity to tourist sites, what I can say is that it was easy to get to from the airport and had easy parking. What really stood out during our stay was how accommodating Marsha and her husband were during our stay. We were traveling with a one-year old which can be hectic at best, but staying here, it was like we hadn't even left home. They provided everything we needed including a portable crib and a high chair. Marsha even let us use her own personal stroller and washed a load of baby clothes when we ran out. The condo was impeccably clean and was a wonderfully comfortable place to call home for a week. I'll certainly keep it in mind for future visits from family!

Dave and Marsha were very helpful, giving insight on where to go, groceries, restaurants etc. House/condo is exactly as described, very comfortable, relaxing, and quiet. The walk to the "T" gets a little boring at times (about a 15 min walk), we took a taxi one time, really it's not that bad and most of us could use the exercise. It was very hot on Marathon Monday, and after running in it, Marsha was concerned about me and our family being too hot, as they had not put in the a/c yet due to still being spring, but Dave and Marsha offered to put the a/c in while we were at the Marathon - another show of hospitality and concern. (We didn't need a/c, house was nice and cool). We would definately stay here again. Would recommend highly to anyone.

We had a great trip to Boston. Our upper flat was roomy, comfortable and very clean. The owners were gracious and responded immediately to any enquiry we made. There was a basket of fresh muffins waiting on the table for us when we arrived. The flat is located very close to a T station and we parked our car for the entire week and took the T. This flat is up a steep flight of stairs so I would not recommend it to those who have difficulty climbing stairs but, for everyone else, it is a great place to stay.

We enjoyed having Kristi and her family. They were able to enjoy the peak of our annual "turning of the leaves" in New England. The weather was wonderful as I recollect. A beautiful time to be in Boston. There is more history per square mile in Boston than any other place in the country and the trolley tour is a wonderful way to see it all. You are able to get off at any of the places of interest and when you are through seeing the sights, you are able catch a ride with the next frequently, scheduled trolley. A car is not needed because we have such a wonderful transit system with in a short walk from our condo. But if you do have a car, we offer free, off-street parking. We are glad to offer all the comforts of home.

Not to mention the close location to our friends & family. The owners provided a detailed map of their neighborhood so you know where to eat and shop, and find public transportation. The apartment was clean & provides everything you need for your stay, from nice linens to kitchenware. Any questions we had were very quickly answered by Marsha which was very helpful. Our family had a superb stay here. It's a quick metro ride into downtown Boston (or a quicker drive by car). The owners provide a detailed map of their neighborhood so you know where to eat and shop. The apartment provides everything you need for your stay, from nice linens to kitchenware. It was very clean and Marsha and Dave were helpful and generous with their hospitality, even providing a pack/play and booster seat for our youngest child so we wouldn't have to bring on the plane. We recommend Pat's Pizza in their neighborhood. Sadly didn't get a chance to try the local ice cream shop as we were too stuffed each day with gelato and cannoli from Little Italy. Definitely recommend this rental to others.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in May. We were impressed with how well the place was furnished. It was like staying at a 5 star hotel... except cosy and homey. The location is fantastic. Just a short walk to the bus station or even the subway station... which then allows you to go ANYWHERE in Boston. Much better than taking the car and looking for expensive parking spots. I would higly recommend this home to anybody who wants either a quiet getaway or a busy sight-seeing vacation in Boston. This home allows you to do both!

Owner response: Larry, We enjoyed having you and your wife; you were so friendly and engaging. We love Boston and it mean so much to us to see you enjoying all the varied places and things to see and do. The fact that it was a special occasion for you and your wife made it even more meaningful to us as the owners. We live in a very interesting and picturesque area that we were also glad you took the time to blend in with the natives. Boston is a world class city with all the advantages. Yet it's size and great transportation system. which we are handy to, make it so easy to go any where with ease on a budget. We take great pride in offering such an attractive, tasteful and cozy place to call home at the end of an adventuresome day or to kick back, relax, rest and be restored. Please tell everyone you know about us and please come visit again, sooner than later. Marsha & Dave

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Barnabus House. We found the accommodations nice, comfortable, and cozy. Even though it is in the urban Boston area, the house is very peaceful and quiet. An added bonus is that Hosts David and Marsha McNeely are a wealth of information on the many historical places in and around Boston and offer many tips on where and when to visit the sites. The convenient location of the Barnabus House to Boston and the surrounding area also makes for more sightseeing time instead of travel time when you are on vacation. I highly recommend making this your home away from home when in the Boston. We do. Gloria--Pampa, TX

This home away from home is a gem. This was our first time using VRBO and it was the most enjoyable experience. This is definitly a must if you are looking in the Boston area. The home has a wonderful, welcoming, warm feel to it and the decor is stunning. The bed linens and towels are pure luxury and the home made baking that was waiting for us was such a treat and most appreciated after four weeks of eating out. Although we did not have a lot of dealings with Dave, Marsha was wonderful and her tip on taking the hop on hop of bus tour was right on. We had two New Zealand guests with us and they were equally thrilled with our choice. The Boston, Cape Cod area is stunning and well worth a visit, especially if you get to stay in this wonderful home.

Owner response: I can’t imagine having more delightful guests than Jan and Terry and his sister and her husband from New Zealand. They make being a vacation rental owner a joy. Over a course of a few days we had several chances to visit and I felt like they were old friends. We love Boston and there is so much to do and enjoy that we were delighted to see all of them taking every opportunity to explore all the sights from the trolley guided tours, to the Cape as well as one of our own neighborhood eateries where all the locals gather. Though I had prayed for our typical, beautiful spring weather, it was less than ideal but you would never have known it from their cheerful and amiable disposition and adventuresome attitude. We designed our condo for the comfort and enjoyment of our guests so I am very pleased to hear of all the little things that were a special treat to them, while they were our guests. Your kind and encouraging words mean more than words can say. Having you as our guests was our privilege.
