Homes, Single Family house description
Fun In The Sun! The name says it all! What are you looking for in your vacation home? Play time on the beach? Okay, that would be less than 100 yards from the front door by way of your deeded boardwalk beach access. Fishing in Little Lagoon? Okay, that is only 10 yards out the back door. Swimming? Try the pool to the back of the house. Quiet, peaceful relaxation? Try awakening in your bed looking out to the gulf, or sitting in your living room looking out on the peaceful Little Lagoon, or sitting on one of the decks watching beautiful sunsets over the unobstructed view of the water. This house has it all! Located 3.7 miles from the intersection of Hwy 59 on West Beach Blvd, you are close to the great restaurants and shopping but yet in a very quiet part of Gulf Shores.
This house has a view of the Gulf of Mexico from two of the bedrooms. One of these bedrooms has french doors leading out to a deck overlooking the swimming pool and a view of the gulf. There are also great views of Little Lagoon from the kitchen, dining area and living room on the first floor and from the third bedroom on the third floor. The greatest thing about this house is the location. It sits directly on Little Lagoon! You can sit in the grass in front of the house, in a chair under the house, or on either of the two decks on the 1st and 2nd levels and watch the boats go by, watch the various birds catching fish, or just enjoy looking at the water. Little Lagoon is a 10 mile long body of salt water where you can fish (spotted trout, red fish, flounder, croakers, stingrays and many other fish all call the lagoon home) and crab day and night. Of course, you can clean your fish at the fish cleaning station at the pier, which goes out into the lagoon. Have your own boat? Launch it using our boat ramp. The kids will also enjoy the shared swimming pool. This is not a condo but rather a townhouse. You only have one neighbor. Very hard to find a 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse with a gulf view, sitting directly on Little Lagoon, with fishing in the lagoon and gulf, a swimming pool and in a quiet area of Gulf Shores!
This home features 3 bedrooms, all with queen size beds plus bunk beds (with a full sized mattress on the bottom) in the upstairs bedroom. There are also 3 full baths, each connected to a bedroom. Two bedrooms and two baths are upstairs and one has an incredible view of the lagoon and has sliding glass doors onto a large deck. The third bedroom and bath is downstairs and looks out over the swimming pool and to the gulf. It also opens onto a deck. There are tables and chairs on all of the decks. On the first floor are the kitchen, eating area, living room, and washer and dryer. Sliding doors take you from the living room onto a first floor deck overlooking the lagoon. The living room has ample sitting options, including a queen sleeper sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need. Eating options include a glass table and chairs with a great lagoon view or pull a stool up to the bar separating the kitchen and living room. There is new a 42' high definition TV in the living room and 32' high definition TVs in each bedroom with Dish Network service. Plus, there are 3 DVD players and an Game Cube with games for the kids. Speaking of games, there are lots of games, books, puzzles and toys for everyone to enjoy. Finally, don't worry about your vehicle since you can park three small vehicles or two large vehicles under the house.
What else can we tell you? Did we mention the full size washer and dryer? Or that the living room and one bedroom have sliding glass doors onto decks overlooking the lagoon? Or that this is a very quiet location where you can really relax? Or that the house has a colorful beach decor? Or that you can sleep as many as 11 in the home? Or that there is wireless internet throughout the house? Come see for yourself. You will never want to leave as you will be having so much Fun In The Sun!
Is Fun In The Sun booked the week you need it? We have 3 other properties. If you want a stand alone house with an unobstructed view of the beach then check out The Southern Cross, vrbo number 257393. This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house on West Beach Blvd less than 50 yards from Fun In The Sun. This unit is perfect for those wanting a house with a great gulf view! If you want to be right on the gulf, then look at A Whale Of A View, vrbo number 398689. This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo (5D) at The Whaler on East Beach Blvd. This unit may have the best gulf views of any unit in all of Gulf Shores with gulf views from every room in the house! If you have a big family reunion, go to Sweet Dreams, vrbo number 291114. This is a very large house with 8 bedrooms, 5.5 baths and a very large, private pool on West Beach Blvd.

First Beach Trip With GrandBoys!
First Beach Trip With GrandBoys!
This was our first trip to the beach with our 3 grandsons, ages 8, 4, and 2. The house was perfect with the pier and lagoon for fishing fun and the beach a short wallk away. The house was as adverttised and Mark was easy to work with. We will be back next year and hoping to stay at Fun in the Sun.

My family and I have just returned from the 42nd anual Shrimp fest and had a wonderful stay at FUN IN THE SUN. The pier is nice we caught pinfish, pigfish, lizardfish and some whiting no records broken but great fun.The house is just close enough and just far enough from everything and the beach is an easy walk across the street. The beds were nice and everything is in working order the kitchen cookware has seen better days but it will do.Parking is strict if you have more than 3 cars which is not usually the case and I knew this going in forget about it 3 or less I say you will not be disappointed and will really have some FUN IN THE SUN.

This was a perfect place for a girls getaway! Quiet, peaceful & beautiful. Plenty of room, clean and comfortable. The view from the lagoon is breath taking! Short walk to the beach. Mark was very helpful and easy to work with. Will stay there again! Close enough to all the shops but far enough way to be quite & peaceful!

Having visited Gulf Shores in December of 2012, we thought that this would be a great place to bring our two year old grand daughter for our second annual "bring the kid to the beach vacation. In January I got an email from VRBO, and "Fun in the Sun" was featured. The pictures looked great so we rented the place for middle of July. Mark was very easy to work with, and when we got here everything was as described. The location is perfect. The unit overlooks the Little Lagoon and I found myself sitting on the deck enjoying the early morning as well as the sunsets. The short walk to the beach through the complex was easy and although it was mid July the traffic on West Beach Blvd. was very light, unlike closer to the main intersection. This part of the beach has very few condos, so the beach was not crowded and usually the same people were there every day. The other people in the complex were very friendly and one resident took the time to show our group his fishing boat and answered lots of questions about the great fishing spots. The unit itself is roomy even though we had 3 family groups. The fact that each bedroom had its own bath was great. There was plenty of closet space and for the most part everything was clean. The view of the lagoon from the top bedroom was nice as was the the living room deck. We took the downstairs bedroom that overlooks the complex and pool, but we never were bothered by excess noise and after 9PM it is very quiet. We found a little seafood market "S and S" about a mile away and got cooked take out. Very nice, the food was good and we ate on the back deck. It was better than paying for a pricey restaurant on the water. However, when you do go out be sure to go to The Compleat Angler at the Wharf and Wintzell's Oyster House in Orange Beach. I will definitely come back. Our little girl cried when we were leaving she loves the beach so much.

We really enjoyed our stay here last month and would stay here again. The property was exactly as described and very clean and comfortable. We had 3 families on our trip and the ability for each to have their own bedroom, bathroom and personal space was very nice. The only inconvenience was the limited parking but we managed. The location was great - pretty quiet and away from the crowds but yet just a short drive to restaurants and markets. Having access to both the beach and lagoon was great. We were a little worried about the small size of the pool but it was never crowded and was also a nice perk. Mark was great to work with. He was very responsive and provided very helpful information. We also had the pleasure of meeting some local tenants while we were there who were also very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this property and would stay here again.

Had great time!
Had great time!
The Fun in Sun duplex was great for our family. Everything was exactly as described. Having a true 3 bedroom/3 full bath gave us the opportunity to never feel crowded. We were in for a short stay over Memorial Day weekend and the owner worked with us for the short stay (wished we had time to stay longer!). The views of the lagoon off the back deck were fabulous and it was nice to be able to see gulf from front deck. Pool for the complex was small but it was never crowded and we thought that was big plus. Very easy & short walk to beach (ramp to beach access is across street b/t 2 houses- did take us a minute to find) and although Gulf Shores was packed this weekend the beach area here was never crowded and provided a very comfortable setting to walk up and down and enjoy the waves and sand. Owner was easy to contact and answered all questions promptly. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. We had never stayed on the lagoon side before and not sure if we would enjoy as much as Gulf front but there really were no negatives. Would be thrilled to stay here again. Really enjoyed picking up great cooked seafood from Gulf Shores Seafood Market and bringing back to duplex to enjoy w/o having to fight crowds & wait on Saturday evening.

Great trip for friends!
Great trip for friends!
I stayed in the home with a group of friends and we all had such a blast! The location is great - just a short walk across the street to the beach. The home is beautiful and well-kept, space was a little tight for our larger group. The only problem was keeping the neighbors up at night talking on the decks and on one occasion actually heard them discussing how much they disliked our group. The owner was wonderful and did everything he could to make our trip even more relaxing and the home even more inviting! Loved our trip and would definitely go back.

Owner response: Thanks for staying at our property! We try to work with college students for their spring break trips. This can a challenge as the property is designed for a family and not for students. Also, the complex where the unit is located is very "family friendly" and some residents frown on the noise made by students on spring break trips! I'm glad your group had a good time.
Everything was perfect for our family. We had the pier and little sandy beach all to ourselves. The short walk across the road to the beach was shorter than many beach front properties I have stayed in. The furniture was basic, the TV's new, kitchen well stocked, the layout wonderful and very clean.

We loved staying at Fun in the Sun - the view off the back patio onto the lagoon was superb! The unit was very spacious and had lots of room. We would definitely recommend it to others.

About the owner: We are Mark and Janet Binkley from Starkville, MS. Janet works at Mississippi State University and I am retired from MSU and run a consignment shop in Starkville. We are looking forward to an early retirement in a few years and moving to Gulf Shores. We have a son who is a senior in college and a daughter who is a sophomore in college. With the kids 'normally' out of the house, we discovered that we enjoy being at the beach. After looking at literally hundreds of homes along the coasts of Alabama and Florida, we decided to make a purchase in Gulf Shores. This is our third home in Gulf Shores. To us, it is the perfect spot, complete with the beach and gulf, fishing in the lagoon, shopping and great restaurants, and all in a quiet location. We would love for you to visit our home and have a great vacation! Mark & Janet Binkley Starkville, MS
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We feel that Fun In The Sun is the perfect vacation home. Here is a typical day for us at our home ... see if this works for you. First, I tend to be up at sunrise while my wife likes to sleep in. I walk less than 10 yards out the back door of the house to the pier on Little Lagoon. There I fish and enjoy watching both the sunrise over the water and the wildlife. Feeding the bait fish to the herons who stand patiently behind you as you fish is always fun. When my wife awakes, she walks across the street on the deeded beach access to enjoy a morning dip in the gulf and catch some rays. Later, we meet back at the house to have lunch while sitting on one of the three decks (two facing the lagoon, one facing the gulf) all of which have great water views. After lunch, we head to the pool at the back of the house for some swimming and relaxation. That evening, we leave the peace and quiet at our house and drive 3 miles into Gulf Shores to have seafood at any of the great restaurants or do a little shopping. Returning home, we take a moonlite walk on the beach looking for sea turtles and go to the lagoon to set the fishing poles out for the night in case a fish decides to have a midnight snack. We then sit on the deck and listen as the only noise is the water coming onshore. Talk about peaceful! To finish the day, we watch a favorite TV show or a DVD on the 42' HD TV in the living room or on the 32' HD TV in our bedroom. Sound like a perfect day? It is to us too!!! And should the kids join us? Well, in addition to the fishing, swimming and playing on the beach and in the gulf, they can relax in their private rooms, each with 32' HD TVs and DVD players and one with a Game Cube, or play some of the games we have in the house for everyone to use. Oh, and if you just have to get on your computer to check email or that dreaded facebook account, then you can use the wireless high speed connection anywhere in the house or on the decks.
