We bought this home because of the beauty of Lake Weir. We found it to be one of a few clean Large Spring fed, sand bottom lakes in Central Florida. Most Florida lakes are mostly mud bottom.
We fell in love with great fishing and viewing the abundant wildlife. We enjoy watching many varieties of water fowl that migrates to the lake, also the different kinds of owls, eagles, golden hawks, albino & regular turkeys, otters, deer, ect. The County Park attracts and and harbors a lot of surrounding wildlife. I love viewing the abundant wildlife daily out the window.
The property is at the end of dead end road with lots of lazy grand daddy Oaks. Your view from house is of Carney Island Park. Lots of trees, natural fauna and wild life. Listen to the sounds of nature as you enjoy sitting by the Lime stone Fire Place soaking up the view and Wild Life that lives here. Relax and feel the quiet seclusion and peacefulness of the area. Smell the orange blossoms from the surrounding Orange Groves in the spring season. Take relaxing walks around the water ways.
Only 5 minutes to Villages for tons of Golfing choices, and other entertainment and activities.
Lake Weir is close to Amusement Parks: Orlando Disney, Universal Studio, Sea World , many Water Parks, Silver Springs, Rainbow Spring, Water Parks, Many Museums, Historical towns Like Micanopy, Cedar Key and 10 minutes to Famous Santos Biking, Walking and Horse Trail. Visit Market of Marion Flea Market 3 miles away or many Antique shops in area. Rent a liscenced Golf cart for the day at Villages and Sumter landing and travel over 20 miles of trails through golf courses, shops, restaurant, many Country Clubs/ Bars. Lots to do and see for all ages.
Also, very close to many County and State Spring Parks, Rainbow River & Spring for tubing, Kayaking. Silver Springs Silver River River, Withacochee River, St. Johns River. It is surrounded with beautiful large Oak Trees and horse Farms along with your typical tropical fauna mixture of Palm trees, bird of paradise, and rare Ghost Lillie and much more natural beauty to soak up. Visit many Museums in area, or Historical Towns to explore like down town Ocala, Gainesville, Micanopy, and Famous Gulf Coast town Cedar Key which have the old southern charm and great food.

Travel East or West 1 hour to either Coast for Great Beaches, Deep Sea fishing, or snorkel with Manatee or Salt water activities. One hour North of Orlando activities, 5 minutes north of Lady Lake & Villages Shopping Golfing, Bands & Dancing.

Clean spacious home, with a relaxing neighborhood. Very private and quiet. We visited lots of springs in area. And love the Resturant Gator Joes on Lake Weir off C-25. The owner was very willing to accommodate all needs. Within 20 minutes of Silver Springs, FL., and the forest. We had a great time there. FYI the Silver Springs park is not to be missed. It is rich experience! Thanks!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

My wife and I spent a month in this spacious well furnished house 2 years in a row. We found it to be very nicely furnished and well stocked. We entertained family members during the Holiday and the setup was perfect. We had plenty of parking for our loved ones. Every one in the family loved the tree swing and had a great time. Even though the water was low this last stay we saw two otters, and deer. The water was low in Lake Weir this last year,so we had to use the owner dock/ boat house, and canoe on Bird Island to go fishing. The owner graciously discounted our rate fairly to compensate. The golfing was fabulous in the area, and every thing we needed and wanted was close by. Our experience was very enjoyableRecommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

If you value a vacation at your owe pace. Lot's of privacy. Nature all around-yet close to the city, this is the best of the best. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay. We hated to leave such a peaceful and tranquil setting. Birds chirping, just lovely.. The owner was great, responses quickly and provides lots of info re sightseeing, restaurants, etc. Delightful home, just like home. Kitchen is spectacular, all amenities are there for your use. Beds are great. Bathrooms are updated. We hated to leave... Tastefully decorated and very clean. Better than a hotel!Recommended for: Age 55+.

To review this house I will keep it simple: 1. No water on 2 sides of the house. Just drainage ditches of mud. Neighbor says it’s been over a year since there has been enough water to properly float the canoe they offer. 2.No water means no fish. When we called the landlord about no fishing, she said that she had asked her husband to do a rain dance and it didn’t work. She then offered another house for me to drive to, so I could just fish. 3.I had to reset the controls and thaw out the refrigerator, before it would work properly. Of course all the frozen food we bought the first day was ruined before I found out it wasn’t working. 4.Each bedroom has a bed and a chest of drawers. 1 had a floor lamp. All had overhead fans and lights. I had to get a folding chair for a bedside table. 5.The shower pressure was so poor my wife had to wash her hair in the kitchen sink after taking a shower. The bathroom sink was clogged and I had to buy some Drano just to get it to flow slowly. 6.The only wildlife in the area was the kids across the mud ditch. They were yelling, screaming expletives and firing their rifle. I saw a baby rabbit down the road. There was a LOT of mosquitos, though. 7.My wife had to get up at 2:30 in the morning to shut off the dryer she started before we went to bed at 10. It doesn’t shut off. Fortunately it didn’t catch on fire, too. 8.The T.V. has the most basic of cable with about 6 stations you might watch out of about 12. 9.Rented for a month and we left 3 weeks early. We are sure we aren’t going to hear from the owner about the problems. She knew and has known. Good Luck.Owner response: Janet I have other vacation rentals and been doing this for many years. This is the first time I have ever had a complaint. As soon as you notified me of you issues. I immediately contacted my Maintenance Man Dan and sent him over to you. Dan told me when arrived at the house to do repairs. You and your husband sent him away by saying you had no problems, and his services were not needed. You prevented him from entering house to be able fix, or address any of your issues. He was left with the impression you where happy and did not know you went home early. I think this action added to your unhappiness. Which, it was a tooth brush in Bathroom sink drain that was clogging it up. Also, if you would of pulled out the knob in shower all the way you would of had plenty of water pressure to shower and wash your hair. I know you said this was your first time to Florida. But for future trips expect Mosquitos in all of Florida. I apoigize I did not convey this to you before your arrival. I am sorry you had problem with refrigerator if you would of contacted before you thawed, and cleaned up. I would of sent maintenance over to deal with the mess. And spared you the work. And if you would of left a receipt for the food you lost, I would of reimbursed you gladly. It was caused because someone had left dial on colder side. Sorry, the dryer did not turn off automatically. Which I did not know until you wrote this review had a problem. The shut off button in door part was the problem, easy fix, if you would of let Dan the maintenance man in house to fix it would of not taken long. I really wished you would of notified me right away someone was making a disturbance especially with guns. I would of called Police immediately. This the first time I have heard of guns shooting in the area. Which freaks me out because of the Carney Island wild life preserve is right next to the property with Park Rangers. I told you the water was low from drought, and discounted your rent dramatically from the original rate. Also I did offer you use of Island house with Boat house and dock less than a mile away from rental for fishing with sufficient amount of water with use of Canoe at that location. If you would of just tried to use it just once, you would of been very happy with your fishing experience. This is the 2nd time I sent a response, 1st time it was not posted. I do not know why.

We also Rent out a lovely 3/2 House that over looks the crystal clear spring with 200 foot visibility on 14 acres. Blue Grotto Springs is a Fresh Water Spring and is in the top 10 Fresh water Scuba Diving sites in the world. It is a truly fun educational experience that enlightens and refreshes the soul. Blue Grotto is the Largest fresh Spring water Cavern dive site in Florida. Open Water Certification. We love all bodies of water fresh water Springs, Rivers, Lakes, or salt water Oceans. We love observing the wild life they attract. We have raised 4 boys on water, fishing, wake boarding tubing, skiing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, Sailing, kayaking, boating. We are born water babies right to the bone. We love adventure and exploring and learning new things. We traveled and explored Costa Rica and built a 3rd Vacation rental home on Langosta Beach in the North /West Guanacaste Area of Costa Rica, Central America over 12 years ago. We love the surfing, fishing, snorkeling, cave spelunking Dry Caves, Canopy zip line tours in the canopy of the rain forest zip lining over beautiful rivers and waterfalls and rafting and kayaking them also. Rain forest mountain and beach tours on ATV, horse, or foot have been stunning. We have made it our goal at the end of every day to enjoy a awesome Sunset’s on the water at any of our 4 very unique fun Water Front homes. We just can not describe the love we have for the food, the people, animals, the views. Everything it has to offer is awesome, fun and relaxing.
