Snuggled between the trees near Eleven Mile Lake, this cabin was rustic and nicely furnished. It was well stocked with almost everything we needed. The kitchen had all the necessary cooking, and eating utencils, and even some of the condiments, spices, etc. The master bedroom was beautiful with a romantic fireplace. We enjoyed sitting watching tv and talking around the cozy, warm fire in the living room on the snowy nights. There was another cabin nearby, but we never saw anyone there, so there was privacy as well. We went with another couple, but it would be great for a family, especially in the summertime, with the nearby lake activities. There are so many things to do in South Central Colorado, and never enough time to see it all. We have never been disappointed with a Mike and Maggie property rental. We already have our next one booked.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family came to the cabin for the week of Christmas. We loved this place! Our family had so much fun playing in the snow, then snuggling around the giant stone fireplace with hot chocolate. The kitchen was well stocked and the whole cabin was very comfortable. Our kids said this was the best Christmas ever! They even had a Christmas tree set up for us! I would highly recommend this cabin if you like peace and quiet, beautiful views and a laid back environment. We were still close enough to go snow tubing, visit the Wolf reserve, play at the giant penny arcade and visit Focus on the Family's Whit's End. Thanks for a great home!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a great house! It was very well kept, and had lots of great space! We enjoyed cool mornings having coffe and breakfast out on the deck, and millions of stars in the evenings! You can hike right out the back door, and there is a state park lake 6 minutes down the road that was very nice! All the colorado springs area attractions are very close as well! The master bedroom and bathroom were especially nice! The property managers were very helpful, and took a highchair out to the house for us before we arrived! When we left, we forgot some valuables at the house and they went out of their way to find them and mailed them to us! We had a great experience with the property! Thank you to everyone involved with the aspen house!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We had a great time in the area with four adults and two 15 month old babies. There was plenty of nature to play with right around the cabin for the little ones. Eleven Mile Reservoir was just 8 minutes away and had good trails for running, hiking, and lots of people were fishing. The cabin has a living room with kitchen in back. There is a hallway with three bedrooms off from it. Two have queen beds and one has a twin. There is a full and half bath off from the hallway. Past the bedrooms, the hallway has glass windows and a door to the outside. At the end there are two steps up to the master bedroom. The master bedroom is huge with an open bath and it's own outside door and porch. The deep tub and glass shower are clean and beautiful. There is a very roomy closet there that is big enough for a pack-n-play. The property was surface-clean but could really use a deep cleaning (walls and high areas were quite dusty). There were some dead flies and moths that had to be removed from areas and there was a (live) mouse in the house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

The area is relaxing and beautiful. The house was well maintained. There is actually a twin bed in the office for use as well as a cot in the closet. 11 mile state park and reservoir is 3 miles away and rents kayaks and canoes. There are established trails for hiking and fishing is allowed. Pikes Peak and Manitou Springs is an easy drive for day trips. Bring your groceries with you as the nearest grocery store is about 18 miles away. Would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

This was our second stay at this property and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The cabin looks rustic on the outside, but it was plush and comfortable on the inside. Waking up in the master bedroom with the view of the forest was fabulous. Only one night did we actually watch tv and it was mainly to watch the weather channel because snow was predicted in the forecast. We mostly listened to music while the kids kept in touch with their friends through wi-fi at the house. The only negatives we encountered with the house, which didn't affect our stay, was that the fireplace in the master bedroom did not work and the water pressure in the master bathroom shower was very low. The soaking tub was fabulous though! Our teens love that the property backs up to the Pike National Forest instead of on a busy street in town. They spent afternoons exploring the forest with their handheld GPS and took lots of nature photographs. Lake George is a wonderful central location to many activities, such as whitewater rafting in Canon City, horseback trail ride at the M Lazy C ranch (just outside of Lake George to the west), Pike's Peak, Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine near Cripple Creek, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cliff Dwellings, and the Royal Gorge - everything was within an hour drive. We just packed a cooler and headed out for the day and returned early enough to relax on the deck while cooking on the grill. My husband had a birthday while on our trip, so the kids and I baked him a cake! One of a kind birthday! The views were magnificent in every direction. If vacation locations were up to me every year, I would always come here!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

With 4 children ranging in ages from 10 to 18, we decided to do a non-traditional Christmas. We passed on all of the extended family get-togethers, expensive gift giving, and stress that comes along with it and decided on a family only get away. My online research lead me here. The cabin lived up to all of our expectations and more. If you are looking for modest luxury that is off the beaten path then this is your place to stay. All you need to bring is food. The cabin is very well appointed and the nature views are great, coming from someone who lives in the city that is. The location of this place is great as well. You can be almost anywhere you want to be within 1 hours drive time. Each day we would venture out to new sites. Frozen Lake George, 4x4 trails in the forest, Monach Pass, and of Pikes Peak just to name a few. If you are wrapped up in your cell phone and live by a GPS unit then this is not the place for you. Mike & Maggie were a great asset as well. They made sure we have firewood and was helpful with directions to area attractions. Mike should be on the Colorado visitor center's payrole. It was very hard to leave. We will be back! Thanks so much for sharing this place with us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The place was great! We were in the area for a family reunion and after hearing some of the stories from family members who had rented other places we knew ours was by far and away the best. Very clean, full size garage available, lots of rooms, and beautiful decorations are just a few of the benefits for this place. Also far enough off the main highway for great privacy but close enough to get anywhere quickly.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
