Romantic Fall Getaway
Romantic Fall Getaway
This was a spectacular romantic getaway! We came here after our wedding and could have asked for a better place. The private secluded location on Lake michigan was wonderful, peaceful and romantic. The views were amazing along with the sunsets while relaxing in the hot tub. We came up here for the fall colors aswell and were not disappointed! We took a long ride up the cost and the colrs were amazing! We would recomnd this place to Midwest Living magizine all the quant towns along the lake were ideal for shopping and the food at the resturansts was excellent. I highly recomend staying here! We will definetly be back!!

Great house for a family vacation. Loved the view of the lake and easy access to the beach. It's great location for both a short trip down to Ludington area on a rainy day for a visit to the children's museum or about an hour drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We would definitely recommend renting from Eileen if you want a comfortable house for your family with beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

My in-laws came over from England and had never really seen Lake Michigan. I started researching places for 4 adults and 2 children (8 & 9). I am so happy I found Eileen's house. The house was clean, large and welcoming. There were plenty of beach chairs and even some toys for my kids. The rooms were spacious but we mostly spent our time in the sunroom. A great room to read, relax and play games as well as enjoy the spectacular view of Lake Michigan!! My in-laws kept calling it a sea/ocean view. They are correct. The view is amazing!!! The beach is semi-private but we were the only ones around for what seemed like miles. There was an occasional walker but it was as if we had our own private oasis. The only hiccup was the little "stream" we needed to cross to get to Eileen's beach. Honestly, the "hiccup" was well worth the secluded feeling of having your own beach!!! Eileen was a dream to work with. She is very, very accommodating. Happy we stayed here!!!! I highly recommend staying at this home. You will love it!!!

Owner response: I love the sunroom too! It is one of my favorite spots in our home because it's like you are outside but still protected...perfect when the weather is not so great too! Regarding the stream separating our property from the beach we have deeded us to, it runs strongest in the spring or whenever rain is plentiful. As the summer goes on, the stream dries up and crossing it/by passing it is much easier. If you are a potential guest and concerned with this aspect of our property, I encourage you to call me and I can answer all of your questions. My desire for every guest I share my home with is to provide an experience that fits your groups' needs and make your time on the lake absolute perfection!
Found this rental on VRBO. Was planning a fishing and golfing vacation to Manistee. The house was very clean, conveniently located and offered a lot of space for everyone (total of 8) in my group. The kitchen was large, clean and had all the applicances, etc needed. Wonderful views of Lake Michigan. I enjoyed sitting in the hot tub and watching the sunset each night. I found working and coordinating my stay with the owners very pleasant. Frequent communication by email made verything so easy. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone.

I chose this home for my mother and I to enjoy a great long weekend together.Being a ranch style home with everything on one level was perfect for my mom.The master bedroom had a walk in shower and a view of the lake. As did most of the rooms had beautiful views of the lake. The kitchen table was a great spot to have dinner and watch the sunset. The hot tub outside.also was placed to take full advantage of the lake views. The owner was a pleasure to work with and is constantly updating their home. The day that we arrived. They had just installed the master bathroom's sink the day before. The other bathroom was updated recently also.I would definitely rent this home again.

Quiet relaxing family getaway
Quiet relaxing family getaway
We stayed with our family of four and the grandparents for a week in August and loved the house! It is generously sized for 6-8 people with a huge kitchen. As the weather was wonderful, we spent most of our time on the amazing porch hanging over the beach and enjoyed the 180 degree panoramic view of Lake Michigan. Utterly relaxing! We also used the hottub in the evenings, and discovered the "quiet" porch off the kitchen for reading without hearing the TV when the kids were watching. Another big hit for the kids was the nice collection of board games which they avidly played. The town center was a short drive away with cute shops, restaurants and convenient big stores and supermarkets. We also explored the golf courses in the area and loved them! The Fishing trip was equally successful, as the boys pulled out 12 (!) huge kind salmon which were delicious on the grill! In the end, we didn't even go out for dinner once, as everybody wanted to watch the sunset from the porch - that's how magical it was... Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely vacation home. If we return to the area, we'll certainly return to the house!

This house is exactly what we wanted for a relaxing family vacation. It's almost like being on a deserted island. We hardly saw anybody on the beach. We are a family of 6 and took 2 grandparents and the house accommodated us perfectly. We loved going for sunset beach walks every night of our stay and relaxing in the hot tub under the stars.

My husband & I stayed here in February and it was the perfect get-away. We love this area and it's beautiful in all seasons! The home was perfect for us and would also be great for a family since it has lots of sleeping areas/options, two full bathrooms, laundry room, large kitchen with all appliances/dishware, and of course, the perfectly positioned hot tub over looking Lake Michigan. The beach stretches as far as you can see, making for great walks or bonfires. The owners are very organized and provide a great guide to the home and surrounding area. Also, this home is only a few minutes from Oleson's grocery store and downtown Manistee making it very convenient!

Owner response: Thanks to Karen for such kind words. And she is so right....Manistee is a perfect getaway all year long. While Summer and Fall are out busiest times, great deals can be had for the Winter and Spring. The beach is great all year long and the hot tub is a great option for the cooler nights and days of Spring!
We just wanted to say thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us this weekend! It is so spacious and has such a warm and welcoming feel to it. You couldn't ask for a better view or location! Plus the hot tub was amazing!!!!! Our group of moms really enjoyed our Girls Weekend there! I will keep this house in mind for future getaways for sure!

Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: My husband Michael has just retired after owning his own landscape business in the Chicago suburbs and I am the perennial 'mult-tasker' having worked as an actor in Chicago, helping with the landscape business, being a lifestyle and job coach and running our vacation home business.
Why the Owner Chose Manistee:
Our family of 5 had been vacationing in northern Michigan since 1985 and longed to have a place of our own. In the summer of 2003, we found a lovely road off the highway that have wonderful beaches and wasn't 'touristy'. We looked at a couple of properties but they didn't fit our budget. Then that fall, I found a listing online and we decided to drive up (300 miles) and couldn't believe how perfect it was for us. The only way we could afford buying it was to rent it out and as they say, the rest is history!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The greatest benefit to staying at our home called 'Heaven' is because that's the feeling many people get whenever visiting! Because the property is wider rather than deep, the privacy and view from the home is amazing. It offers feelings of tranquility and is a true respite from the business of life. (It's a nice home too!)
