This place was simply amazing! We were blown away when we arrived. The pictures are beautiful but once you arrive you will see that the pictures don't capture the true beauty of Serenity Lake House. Every year we take a friends and family vacation and this was by far one of the best. You really don't need anything once you arrive. It's STOCKED with EVERYTHING YOU NEED. I mean literally everything we thought we needed it was stocked at Serenity. It didn't feel like a rental but almost like we lived there. Thank you KIm and Terrie for all the love and little details you have put into Serenity. We will be returning soon!

Absolutely Wonderful !!!!

This property was truly amazing and the owner has thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need. We had our family plus a couple extras with us for the weekend for a total of 2 parents and 5 teenage/college age kids. The basement was a perfect place for all of us to hang out and enjoy time together, the hot tub was wonderful and the outside grounds were beautiful. Everyone had their own bedroom and they were spectacular!! Kitchen has absolutely everything you could possibly need and we all enjoyed the three season porch area as well!!! The owner and property manager were great to work with, too!! As mentioned in the description, the driveway was extremely steep and provided us with a great deal of laughs.....no issues! We hope to stay there again over the next several years!! Driving into the city of St. Louis is a bit of a trip, so plan to stay at the home and enjoy everything it has to offer. You won't be disappointed!!!!!

This has been a terrific experience from beginning to end. The owners/managers have been great to work with! These people have customer service figured out, and a satisfied guest is their ultimate goal. Our family met at Serenity after traveling from SC, MN, WI and IL. Well worth all the hours behind the wheel to find every amenity at our fingertips when we arrived. Thanks, Terri and Kim, for making this Mom's dream come true!

The Very Best!

Our group of girls just couldn’t believe how well stocked this house is. The owners are so generous for sharing their incredible home and so thoughtful for providing anything one might need during their stay. The media room is fantastic, many of us enjoyed relaxing and watching movies, others enjoyed time outside by the firepit and soaking in the hot tub. We do a getaway weekend every year in Jan/Feb to help cure the winter doldrums. It was such a good weekend at Serentiy house that we’ve already reserved our time for next year. We certainly look forward to it.

Great house but no hot water!

Our stay would have been great if the hot water had not gone out on half of the house, rendering the master bath and upstairs shared bath unusable. Getting up in the middle of the night and having to travel to find a bathroom with my young child was not fun at all. I called the owner but the soonest it could be fixed was the next day immediately before our departure. Surprisingly, no one ever offered us any kind of discount for our inconvenience. This place also has an incredibly steep driveway which would be impossible to access if there were any ice on the driveway. Should also mention that it is remotely located and aside from a gas station and a tavern, there is no restaurant or grocery in about 15 miles. Beautiful house with good amenities, wish it would have been a better experience for us.

Owner response: I called this group Saturday late morning to check on their stay and they raved about the house. In fact the father of the group specifically asked to speak with me and went on and on about the beauty of the house, the care of the house, etc. I am quite shocked by this review. We had even offered for the group to have a complimentary late check out which they did do. Plus offered for the family members that were not flying out until Monday to stay over Sunday night for no charge. Let me set the record straight as these comments are not quite accurate. Our home has 2-80 gal hot water heaters and we have 4 full baths and two half baths. It is unfortunate that the heating elements in one of them went out unexpectedly during their stay. The group contacted me at 8pm on a Saturday night as the hot water on one side of the house was not working and asked if i could get someone out. I immediately contacted our repair person and he arrived at the house by 9pm that night and was unable to fix it on the spot. The next morning we had a 2nd repair person come and it was determined it was the heating element which required getting parts, draining, etc. they had the repair complete by Sunday afternoon but the group was checking out. However, we did have 2 full bathrooms w/showers + half bath, kitchen, laundry, etc. all that had plenty of hot water from the 2nd 80 gal tank. In addition the remaining 2.5 bathrooms were all functioning so there was no need for little ones to have had to "travel" to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. There are bathrooms next to EACH bedroom. Yes, most of the lake homes have a steep driveway and if there were snow or ice we have a service that treats it and plows. Yes, the lake house is more remote as the closet grocery/nice restaurant is 20 minutes away. We think that is a plus as you are coming to the lake to escape. We tell our guests where to shop before they arrive Bottom line...we are so disappointed to hear this group was unhappy but we couldn't prevent the unexpected hot water heater and felt we responded as best we could. Our goal is or every group to love their stay at SERENITY. We think you can see from all our reviews that this was a unique situation. We did not refund money for the stay but instead refunded 100% of the group's deposit despite the extra cleaning that was required do to the condition the group left the house.

Everything was Perfect!

This house was absolutely perfect! The owner's have thought of everything. The pictures of this property are beautiful, but you have to see it to appreciate it. We have rented other properties for vacations, but none have been as exceptional as this one. I love to cook, and this kitchen was amazing - I thought that I would be left wishing I had this gadget or that serving piece - I was wrong - the kitchen was stocked with everything imaginable! The game room and home theater were the icing on the cake and afforded all a great time! The beds were all very comfortable, and well kept. Can't wait to come back in the summer sometime to experience the lake activities too! Everyone in our party would highly recommend this property, and we cannot think of anything but postitives to say about it!

Making Christmas memories

Our 3 families met at Serenity Lakehouse for a few days before Chrismas as it was a meeting point. The house has beautiful large windows which made the snowy days even more beautiful. It is very spacious with plenty of rooms for the families and children. I was a little nervous with the beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere - very eleganting decorated - with the 3 yr old twins, but after putting some things out of reach, we were fine. we did not get to utilize the boat dock area or lake but, thoroughly enjoyed hunkering down with the snow falling outside. The kitchen and dining area were very high end - nice lighting, granite countertops,large elegant dining table. The art work, the luxery bedding, the beautiful jacuzzi bath, too much to mention. Very tempting to come back during the warmer months and enjoy what the rest of this property offers.

A great family holiday vacation

The property was everything promised. It was wonderfully decorated which contributed to our enjoyment of the holidays. Very spacious and room to spread out for everyone. The kitchen lacks nothing for preparing any kind of meal. Just a fabulous time. My son in law is an animator and drew a snowman inspired by the decor in the guest book.it says it all.

Perfect place for relaxation and fun

We are a group of 14 women who have been together for 7 years. Once a year we take a trip away to just relax and spend time bonding. This place was the perfect place. We've tried others and this one far exceeds every other place. The large kitchen, the screened-in porch, the dock by the lake, the basement, the theatre, the hot tub, the porches, all made this an amazing place to be with friends. We visited a few wineries when we stayed at Serenity Lake House. We used a company called The Wine Wagon for transportation. They picked us up at the house, dropped us off at the end of the day. Great way to have a safe, crazy, fun day touring the wineries. The house is tastefully decorated, has every amenity you could ask for, and was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The property managers were great to deal with, easy to contact, and helpful with every question and 'situation' we had. Every one of us would highly recommend this as a fantastic place to stay for any large group.

Relaxing getaway

We are a group of friends from across the country who love to travel together. We met in St. Louis this year and found this wonderful home for our stay, how lucky. The driveway is a little intimidating (steep) but there is ample parking at the house. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. We love to cook and the kitchen was the best appointed of any I have seen in the several houses we've rented. We had fantastic weather and spent most of our time enjoying the many outdoor spaces, all of which are thoughtfully planned and very comfortable. There is not one thing I would change!

McChick's Weekend at Serenity House

We are a group of sisters, daughters and nieces who get together once a year at different sites. This is our first year in the St. Louis area. We absolutely loved our stay at Serenity House. The home is so warm and inviting, so well equipped and comfortable We all loved it and had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the artwork and all the clocks. We actually felt like we were visiting someone's home. Also really loved the sun rooms -- they were used a lot by our group. I don't think we've ever had a better equipped kitchen. Since we usually have most of our meals at wherever we're staying that was very important. It was also nice that the Manager of the property was so helpful. We would definitely recommend this property to others. We had lunch one day at Miss Aimee B's in St. Charles and went shopping in St. Charles -- that was a fun time. Planned to go to some of the wineries but didn't have time. Our ladies come from Michigan, Tennessee, Chicago, St. Louis, Columbia and Lenexa, Ks. We choose the name McChick's because the maiden names of the sisters is McQueen. Thought this was a good title for us.

Absolutely the BEST place for a group to get away, relax, and have fun. The owners thought of everything. From bath towels to beach towels; games to gadgets; DVD's to decorations - this home left us wanting for nothing - except to come back again real soon. Highly recommended!

Great place to relax!

There were 13 of us at this mini family reunion, and we had a blast! The house is big enough that everyone could spread out if they want, or all gather together. The owners thought of everything we might need. The water toys were fun, and the cove provides a nice quiet place to relax in the water. Everyone enjoyed the theatre room with its 110" screen for playing wii games or watching movies. The screened-in porch was a great place for games late at night. The kitchen and dining area accomodated us all very well. I hesitate to give it too great of reviews because we want to come back and don't want to have a problem booking it! You will have a great time here. The owners were very accomodating, and provided what we needed to have a special family time away from our "real lives."

This is the second time we have stayed at Serenity. We enjoyed it so much last January that we decided to stay again during the summer months. The grandkids loved jumping off the dock and the lake. Our youngest granddaughter who is 6, cried when we told her that it was time for us to leave. Thank you, Kim and Terrie, for everything even when our vacation did not go as planned.

Serenity Lakefront Home - A Dream Home

This vacation property was unbelievable in that it had everything you could ever possibly want and more. It was so well kept and a place you felt like it was your home, away from home, the minute you stepped in the front door. The photos and description were wonderful, but they were even better once we arrived. The grandchildren loved the little goodie basket waiting for them when we arrived and it was a perfect place for the grandchildren, grown-ups and even a Grandma. We had planned on driving into St Louis but there were so many things to do right there that we never left the home. We couldn't have been any happier with our choice and to walk out of that home in five days was hard as you wanted to stay longer. All I can say is I can't imagine anyone not being satisfied with this home, it was the best property I have ever rented. I can't say enough for the owners - they were #1.

Never again Motel Six! This upscale vacation home left nothing wanting. From the decorative bedrooms to the relaxing lower level this home has everything needed. Cooking was not a chore because the utensils were of the finest quality. I left and immediately purchased a girddle identical to the one I used there. Boy toys, girl toys, kids toys, all accomadating our specific tastes. Add to this their collection of CDs, movies, a few good books and relaxation is complete. If you are considering, don't procrastinate, book it now!!!

Unbelievable stay. My siblings and I were able to give our mom the gift of her kids and grandkids for her 80th birthday. Your generosity in allowing us to rent your home was by far the best thing we've been able to do for her. When she looked at me and asked if we could do "this" again made me realize that my siblings and me were dead on in choosing this amazing get-away. The house has the unique ability to make you feel at home with designer flair. The kids loved the lake and the entertainment room, probably equally if you ask them. The adults treasured the moments we were able to share with each other, in the house, seeing sights and of course, cooling off in the lake on a daily basis. Who knew kayaking and canoeing were such fun!! Thank you Kim, for sharing your home with us. The memories will last a lifetime.

Awesome Family Gathering

Every other year our family of 3 sons, their wives, and 9 grandchildren, who are scattered across the USA, rent a house that will accommodate all of us to reconnect. This one was absolutely THE BEST. You hardly need to bring anything but your clothing and toothbrush. Every thing has been provided, not a detail was missing. Everything is top notch and lovely. It was such a peaceful setting, we went into St. Louis once and to Six Flags, but our favorite thing to do was just hang out in the water or on one of the many decks or watch movies on the huge TV screen or play one of the many games provided. Even though there were 16 of us, we didn't feel crowded or like we were on top of each other because there was so much space to spread out and so much to do for folks of EVERY age--from 2 to 67. We are seriously thinking of making this a "tradition" in our family and returning here for every family gathering.

A PERFECT place to reconnect

Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous space with our family. We all traveled far to reconnect for our first annual family reunion. A small family moment for us, but every detail was thought of by the owners of Serenity. From plenty of towels to an array of spices in the pantry. A friendly welcome basket greeted us, as we all began the treasure hunt to uncover the gems of such a delightful place. The photos are wonderful, but the in person experience if FAR better. Thank you Terrie for helping during our stay, it was refreshing to call and get a response back right away. I hope that our future plans will include a return visit. This home is at the TOP of our list. A must visit for us was the St. Louis Zoo. Free too. Seriously. Additional attractions, and parking are available for additional cost, keep that in mind. This home was fun for all ages, however it is not child proof. But the owners are very kind in allowing things to be moved around to protect and if not back perfectly, they don't mind readjusting for you. Thanks Terrie and Kim!

Peaceful and Fun!

We had 5 adults and 3 kids and had a wonderful time at Serenity. This home has so many fun decorations and things to entertain! When you are pooped out from the lake, simply come to the house and have fun there. There is no reason to leave unless you didn't shop for groceries on the way in (which we did). They have pretty much thought of everything a guest might need and are so thoughtful to their guests. Wouldn't hesitate to return-it was truly lovely.

Exceptional Home!!!

I cannot begin to explain how wonderful this home is! From the decor to the landscaping, not a detail was missed. My group spent 4 days in paradise. We just completed our 16th annual golf trip. Serenity was a perfect place to hang our hats after a long day on the golf course. We were able to cook and relax with ease. The hot tub, poker table and home theater system were enjoyed. We also found time to do some fishing. If you ever want a home that has it all, look no further.

We were very impressed by this property. It was perfect for our girl's weekend without the babies or boys, and we felt like we were at home the minute we stepped through the front door. She really does have everything you might need, including life preservers and lake floaties, games, wi-fi, free long distance (cell phone service is limited since you're in the middle of nowhere), basic kitchen staples, OTC meds, band aids, beach towels.... the list goes on and on. The property itself is clean and beautiful with many updates, and we didn't want to leave. You will not be disappointed!

We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing weekend at Serenity. My husband and I and extended family so enjoyed ourselves. Gang of Good Time Golfers!

It would take waaaaay too long to write how much myself and 6 other buddies enjoyed the long weekend we just spent at this wonderful home. We've been coming to the Lake Sherwood area from Milwaukee for over 4 years now to golf, watch the NCAA basketball tournament and just have fun! This trip we stayed here for the first time and we're all so glad we did. Serenity has it all which made it so easy to enjoy. Plus it was really convenient to some excellent golf courses with very affordable rates. We're hoping to come back and once you stay here you'll feel the same!

The Get together

This was a perfect n ideal place for our get together. The house was huge and placed right beside the icy lake. The beautiful living room with high ceiling just gives great views of the outdoor. The lake is just visible from all levels of the house and from 4 bedrooms. The basement is where we spent most of our time with the pool tables, home theatre systems and ofcourse drinking all night. One strange thing was the basement has more than a 100 different clocks all over the house. Always tik toking :) The house has all supplies n facilities and perfectly setup.

We had a wonderful time. We had planned on leaving a few times, but decided the drive was not worth it and that we were happy just staying at your house and relaxing and enjoying each other. The kitchen and bathrooms were very well stocked. We enjoyed the fire places and the hot tub. We had just a wonderful, we are coming back this fall. Hopefully bring an extra person or two.

We had a ball. Four couples and kids. House is breathtaking. 3 nights were not enough. Every room seems like it has a theme. The four bedrooms upstairs share two jack and jill bathrooms. So you will need to coordinate your guests accordingly to bedrooms and bathrooms. The master bed and bath is really nice. You and your guests will fight for access to it.There is a full bathroom in the basement if someone elects to sleep on the pull out sofa in front of the fireplace. Very cozy. The basement is 'off the chain' (great) as our kids said. The house is so spacious that no one was in someone's way. No complaints. The weather was so nice that we were able to experience the kayak, the canoe and paddle boat. I even enjoyed the 7 mile run around the lake (extremely hilly). Our entire group of 14 wants to return again to the same location. Fully stocked house. Owner is so great to work with. Directions to the house are exact. VRBO needs to allow for more than 16 pics on this site because this house truly has more to offer than what is shown.

We had a large group stay together at Serenity for Thanksgiving 2011. We chose this home because it was not only beautiful in the photos, but halfway between our home & family we were meeting from another state to celebrate the holiday. We were not disappointed when we arrived! The home was even more beautiful that the photos, and it was the perfect size for our family of 6 adults and 7 kids. The basement was the hang out for the kids....with the huge projection TV, video games, pool table, and foosball. The kitchen we perfect for cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 13. They had everything we needed, including a double-oven which is a must have for a big family meal. We loved our stay, and can't wait to go again!

This house was exactly what we were looking for. We were having a small family reunion and it had something for everyone. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out. Gorgeous Home and Setting

I rented the home for the weekend to celebrate my husband's 50 birthday (see my previous comments written in the house guestbook in October and entered on this site by the owners). Ten people comfortably stayed in this huge wonderful home. It was a beautiful October weekend and the leaves were turning spectacular colors so we spent a lot of time in the screened in porch off the kitchen. We called it our "treehouse" since we were on the second story up from the ground at the side/back of the house. The huge trees were just outside our windows. If we weren't there, we were down at the dock or sitting in the adirondack chairs on the lower level patio. The hot tub was marvelous...the kids didn't want to get out. My brother in law brought his own fishing gear and threw a line off the dock. My husband and daughter took the canoe out. It was so peaceful on the lake...smooth like glass. My husband just enjoyed having the extended family all together and being away from work. In the evenings, the lower level was the hot spot. The biggest decision was whether to play cards at the poker table, play pool, watch the large projector TV, or just relax and visit! The kitchen is gorgeous and fully equipped with everything you can think of. The owners had a large basket filled with goodies for us on arrival. It was a very nice touch which we appreciated. The home was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Once we arrived, we didn't leave....and we didn't want to...even when it was time for us to go. We had a wonderful, memorable weekend. What a wonderful home!!! Absolutely gorgeous!! Spent the weekend at the Serenity home with my boys and they have not stopped talking about the fun they had!! I rented the place to visit with all my relatives from St. Louis and Illinois vicinity. The house was beautiful, clean and well-maintained with all the amenities we could wish for including a welcome snack basket. We enjoyed the beach and swimming off the dock and the canoe and paddle boat. The pool table and large screen TV were a hit in the evenings. We made a trip to the Daniel Boone home which was a very interesting outing. It was a great place to relax with many areas of the house to explore and enjoy. We had fun looking at all the clocks! One word of warning - it's 70 plus steps down to the lake so be prepared. The owners made it a great experience and I'd be happy to return.

Each year we take a 3 or 4 day vacation with our children, their spouses and our grandchildren, we've been doing this the last seven years. This would probably be the one voted the best. We absolutely loved the house. Everything you would ever want was provided, the home was beautiful, decorated so tastefully. It was really hot the days we were there and the lake was very inviting. We spent alot of time at the water, enjoyed the paddle boats, the kayak, the canoes, and the kids had fun with all the different floats that were provided. We had an evening of smores on the deck by the water and the kids also had fun fishing. We did go into St. Louis 2 different days so we crammed alot into our vacation. The kitchen was incredible and we ate all our meals there which is much easier since there were 7 little kids. All of the bedrooms were very roomy and again decorated so nicely with everything you need. We enjoyed the 4 season porch and all the decks and we also used the gas grill and the gas was provided. I have know doubt that going back to the Serenity House will be high on the list for our family for another vacation. Thank you Amy and Kim for all of your great hospitality we truly enjoyed your home.

I had a summer party at this lake house with 16 of my friends!! It was the best weekend of our summer by far! This house is in it's own cove with a nice dock to play music and chill in water. The house is a great place to gather and host a party. There were beds for everyone to sleep on comfortably and plenty of areas for entertainment! I would love to be able to spend every weekend at Serenity Lake House.

True Serenity

We vacationed at Serenity not once but twice this year. We took our whole family ...grandkids and all. It was perfect! The house offers everything you can imagine for entertainment and comfort. We had our five grandchildren there and it still seemed serene regardless of what was going on. It is just arranged perfectly for that. The lake is fabulous. We all enjoyed swimming and fishing right off the dock. We planned alot for this trip but actually only went into St Louis twice because it was so great at the house; however there is so much to do in St Louis and it is only 45 minutes away. Amy and Kim were wonderful to work with and made our stay very personal. The only thing that could possibly make this better would be boat rental. They would be happy to rent their boat but right now their community will not allow it. Boat or no boat would we rent again?....YES!!! One our favorite vacations!!!

Wonderful Family Gathering Place

We spent June 7-11 here at Serenity House...it was our very first time renting a home for a vacation. This place is fabulous! Every amenity we could imagine was provided. It is clean, beautiful, huge, and provides something for everyone to enjoy. We had an extended family gathering here including loved ones aging in range from 4 months old to 83 years old. We made wonderful memories, enjoyed the beautiful, clean lake and outdoors, and spent lots of time together. The kitchen has everything you'll need for preparing tasty meals. The downstairs is PERFECT for kids to enjoy. The lake dock and all the decks and screened in porch were a favorite of the adults. The kids had a blast swimming each afternoon and enjoying the provided water toys. And the bedrooms are roomy, nice, and comfortable. We give this sweet retreat a 10!! Thank you Kim and Amy for your wonderful customer service and hospitality! Word of your wonderful lake home is spreading!! :)

Fun Family Vacation Spot!

We spent the Memorial Day holiday weekend at Serenity with family members ranging from 18 months old to 79 years old...and it was perfect for every one of us. The property is beautiful, the house is gorgeous, the amenities (as another reviewer stated), absolutely incredible. St. Louis is a short drive away, but there's really no need to leave the grounds...so much to do -- or nothing to do -- right there at the house. I highly recommend to anyone who is taking a look at this page to definitely consider a stay. The pictures don't do it justice -- it's even better than it looks. Great communication from the owners made the whole trip seamless.

My wife has been here on several business meetings and "Loved It" so she set up a romantic weekend for the two of us and I have to say I am SOOO glad she did. This place is Phenomenal with a capital PHENOM. The home is amazing and all of the amenities were INSANE!!. I have never been to such a Luxurious yet affordable Bed and Breakfast than this one. Can not say enough. Whished I'd hit the lottery so that I could buy the house for myself. Felt like a KING in this castle of home. A MUST to stay at.

This weekend my husband and I stayed at Serenity and I have to say it was the most peaceful, restful weekend we have had in many years. The house is so beautiful and so much to do at the house you never have to leave! I was thinking I would have a small family get together there in the warmer months so we can enjoy the lake together as a family. It is a oasis away from the crazy city life, but yet not far from the city! I will recommend Serenity to all my family and friends looking for a beautiful, fun and relaxing place to go. I can't wait to go back!!

I have 5 brothers and sisters and 4 nieces and nephews. In April my family decided to get together for the Go! St. Louis Family Fitness weekend and we needed a place to stay for all of us, including Mom & Dad and our partners/spouses. This turned out to be the perfect place! Serenity has tons of things for both the adults and kids to do, lots of sleeping space and plenty of bathrooms. The home was immaculately clean, tastefully decorated, well organized, and so very welcoming. My family isn't able to be all in one place very often, so to have a space like this where we could enjoy each other's company and have such a good time was truly precious. The kids are already begging to go back again. We will definitely plan on returning!
