The house itself was delightful, but the cleanliness wasn't so much. We arrived in the evening and when we were getting ready for bed, the couple we were with found their bed as USED! Beds had only the bottom sheet with a top sheet folded at the foot of the bed on the folded back bedspread. The double bed room had head indents and wrinkles in the pillows and both on both sides of the bed where it was obvious that someone had slept there. There was also hair on the sheets and pillows. We had to was bedding at 10 pm at night! (Found our towels in the dryer. Cleaning crew didn't bother folding and putting them away.) The next day we noticed a lot of hair in the air. It was pet hair. The middle of the kitchen and dining was swept, but along the edges we swept up a pint's worth of dirt and hair. We vacuumed the living room, stairs and one double bed room upstairs and ended up with a full vacuum of hair and dirt. (We emptied the vac 1st.) We took pictures of the white refrigerator that had black dirty handles, the very dirty and greasy knobs on the stove and the greasy back of the stove. We had to clean everything before we felt we could use them. When we went to get glasses out of the cupboards, we found them turned upside down and sticking to the shelves. There were plates that not only had stuck on food, but were badly chipped (a breeding ground for bacteria). We washed down the cupboards, put down paper toweling on the shelves and washed all the dishes. We're not neat freaks, but that made us cringe. We called the rental company, got not response back from them so went to see them with pictures and all the hair. We were told that the head housekeeper had been there and everything was fine. She didn't believe the pictures and all the hair we presented her with. A day later she called and said they'd send in a mid week cleaning crew. We declined and would rather clean for ourselves. The house is great. It was real cute and the yard was beautiful. The rental company and cleaners left a lot to be desired. Hopefully, they learn from this and do better.

Manager response: We're glad you found the house to be delightful! As the reviewer states, our housekeeping staff makes the beds with the fitted sheet but does not put on the top sheet. The state health department instructs our company to make the beds in this way. We ask guests to finish making the beds upon their arrival. The fact that the bed was left the way it was means that the bed was outfitted with fresh sheets. There may have been hair on the sheets from our laundry service (we send the bed linens out to be laundered professionally). Had the renter called our on-call phone at 10:00pm to express their dissatisfaction with the sheets, our on-call staff person would have been happy to bring new sheets at that time rather than have the guest wash them themselves. The reviewer did not call our on-call phone at any point in their stay. Yes, sometimes towels are left in the dryer when guests arrive. We ask renters to wash and dry the towels upon their departure. When housekeeping arrives, sometimes all of the towels are dry or drying, and sometimes none of the towels are in the dryer. The housekeepers do the laundry while they are there, but cannot just wait for the towels to be done drying if they are not yet dry once the house is clean. The housekeepers had put away towels in the bathroom dresser that did finish drying during the cleaning. Our head housekeeper and a long-time housekeeper for our company were both at the house. We do not receive complaints about their work from other renters. Yes, Baileys House is pet-friendly. We are happy to have furry guests here! Unfortunately, one of the guests during this stay is allergic to pets and her friend (who had picked the house) did not notice that the house is pet-friendly when she made the reservation. The reviewer arrived on Saturday and had left a message on our office phone. Since we are not open on weekends, we received the message on Monday. The reviewer stopped by our office on Monday. After in-office discussion of how to help the guests enjoy their stay, we called them later that same day and offered the mid week clean, which, as the reviewer stated, they declined. It is unfortunate that this renter declined the solution that we offered. This reviewer's problems could have been solved by reaching out to our company upon their arrival, but they did not do so and therefore the situation escalated to a point that our company's solution was not acceptable to them.
