In 2007, after traveling extensively through Latinamerica, I decided to settle down in this magnificent portcity and start a new adventure. After 2 years of renovating and decorating, we opened ours door to share this Valparaíso Experience with fellow travelers.
Without a doubt, 'Queen Mary Duplex' is the most spacious and comfortable loft available in Valparaíso.
The duplex are the two upper floors of the Valparaíso Experience building, with large deck terraces and stunning views over the Pacific ocean, coastline and hills of Valparaíso.
The living-dining room is open plan, bright, spacious & like on the deck of a cruiseliner, here you enjoy fantastic views of the coastline and Pacific ocean.
Between the kitchen island and the bright and spacious living room-deck you will find the dining table, handcrafted from beautiful local timbers. Besides being your dining table this is an ideal space to play cards, plan your holiday itineraries, drink and enjoy time with friends.
The objective of the restoration is conservation and recycling of original materials. This is illustrated in the use of reclaimed wood, from the original laurel floorboards, in construction of the entire kitchen.
All terraces boast spectacular panoramic views. Seated on quality hard wood furniture, you can dine alfresco or simply enjoy a good glass of wine whilst the sun sets on Valparaiso.
The upper level of the Queen Mary duplex consists of an independent master bedroom with ensuite full bathroom and comes with a vast, 40 square metre, terrace with seperate access from the hall and the bedroom studio.
Since November 2011 we opened the doors of the new ECCO building on the same location, offering 4 new duplex apartments (2 bathrooms + 2 bathrooms each) and the same spectacular views.
LOCATION:
The location of the building is very central on the artistic Bellavista hill.
- Close to central 'Plaza de la Victoria' with Valparaiso's Cathedral.
- Near "La Sebastiana", Pablo Neruda´s former residence & museum.
- Peaceful & quiet, and yet so close to all facilities.
- Steps from the funicular “Espíritu Santo” (built in 1911)
- Direct views into the 'Museo a Cielo Abierto' (open art gallery)
- Beautiful views over Pacific ocean and coastline.
- The apartment is located halfway down the staircase alley 'Pasaje Santa Margarita', so physic ability is required to walk 50 steps.
- Parking facility is available on the public street on top or bottom of the stairs, where neighbours park without problems.
- Alternatively there is a guarded & paid parking down the Bellavista hill (2 blocks).

Proprietor of Valparaíso Experience: Bart Koning, multi skilled, dynamic Dutch businessman, has extensively traveled throughout Latin America, speaks six languages fluently, is passionate about Valparaíso and certain about his investments in Chile.
Since January 2010 his french-chilean girlfriend Marcela Venegas is in charge of daily business, while Bart is finishing the developmet of the new Valparaíso Experience building on the same location, offering 4 high quality duplex apartments (2 Brs/2 Bthrs each)

Séjour très agréable dans ce beau duplex, confort assuré, gentillesse des propriétaires, qui ont tout prévu pour votre arrivée : de la bouteille pour vous accueillir jusqu'aux itinéraires conseillés, les restaurants à tester ... I have had the pleasure of staying at Valparaiso Experience twice during the past 12 months. And yet another return is planned. This says everything if you consider that I have to fly from Germany for this experience! I don´t like to publically recommend places that I like especially - but I make an exception for Bart and Marcela, because I think they will be able to maintain their spirit of this location, even when fully booked. This Unesco city is worth a prolonged stay. Bart and Marcela´s apartments are well located, near enough to the center - far enough for the quiet. The spaces are tastefully renovated and they give one that instant feeling of being on sabbatical. The views are great of bay and city - day or night. Life is good here. Take books to read or write, making your stay a project. You will want to write another one next year. Moritz Egetmeyer, Germany

I spent the month of December 2010 at Valparaiso Experience. It was my first time ever in South America. I absolutely loved Valparaiso and my time in Chile, but staying in the duplex and getting to know Bart and Marcela was certainly the highlight of my visit. They made everyone feel so at home, and took such good care of us. They were always a quick call away whenever we needed anything. And they gave us great ideas about where to go and what to do, as well as what restaurants and types of Chilean food we had to try. Not only are they full of great ideas, but they are a lot of fun to be around and really integrate their guests and the city. The duplex, as well as the other levels, is so beautiful. Tremendous thought and time has been put into the design and creation of such a comfortable and elegant space. It is modern and rustic at the same time, and the location is perfect. It has everything you want and more. The pictures are accurate, but do not do it justice! I recommend staying here to anyone who is interested in having a truly unforgettable trip to Valparaiso and it's surrounding coastline. It's a place I hope to discover myself again and again. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Bart, Marcela : J'ai un souvenir très chaleureux de mon séjour de deux mois chez vous pendant ce printemps (austral)!!! Avec votre attention et votre disponibilité vous avez fait de Valparaiso une expérience très accueillante et j'ai déjà envie d'y revenir. J'en suis sûre qu'avec les nouveaux espaces et toutes ces terrasses il va falloir réserver très en avance! Un gran abrazo rompecostillas!
