Gorgeous Log Chalet with Amazing Views - Must See!

This log chalet was designed and built by Reggie and Rick Luedtke in 2010. The white pines used in the construction of the log walls were cut, peeled and transported to the site by the builder. The unique floors and trim throughout the house originated from the black walnut trees growing on the property. The log chalet is located on 8.5 acres - half of the property is wooded and half is open. Chalet is located on a hilltop outside of Mount Horeb and boasts amazing views from each of the 3 deck levels of the home.
Hilly local terrain, abandoned railroad trails and off road trails in the state park provide opportunity for all levels of biking enthusiasts. Mount Horeb has an 18 hole golf course, Cave of the Mounds State Park, public pool and almost weekly organized events within a 1-2 mile drive. The radiant floor heating system and wood burning fireplace together with the proximity to downhill skiing (Tyrol Basin) and cross country trails make this chalet an ideal winter retreat.

We had a wonderful time at the chalet. Weather was chilly enough we were able to use the fire place. We had all kinds of different weather, rain, sleet, snow and even a shad of ice. We will be calling Reggie in the future about a return to the chalet, perhaps when it is warmer and we can use the outdoors part of this beautiful piece of land. The chalet was just like in the picture, very clean, we were in the area for the Wollersheim brandy release. Traveled to New Glarus and shopped in Mount Horeb. Fun for all. If your in Mount Horeb, try Scott's Pizza delicious.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Thanks Reggie! Catalyst Pictures shot a movie here at the cabin. We had a great time and the filming went really well. The location was critical and we couldn't have done it without your support. The Premier screening of the film is on May 11 at 7:00 pm in Vilas Hall on the UW campus. Hope to see you there! We had a great time at your fantastic home! We hope to return for another Girl's getaway again sometime. Went hiking, visited nearby quaint towns, visited the Grumpy Troll (highly recommended!) wish the New Glarus Brewery had been open- we were really looking forward to touring that. However, really had a wonderful time at the New Glarus Hotel Bar- staff very friendly + welcoming. A perfect weekend had by all! What a wonderful get away close to home. We enjoyed the views and the sledding was the best ever. Thank you so much. Note to future guests- the field behind the chalet provides a great sledding hill. You stay warm and get some exercise walking up the hill. A perfect weekend of outdoor activity and downtime inside. Kate, Susie, Nikole, Matt + AnnaDid you find this review helpful? Nice house- fun decor, funky fun with classic cabin. We really enjoyed doing nothing- really - sleeping, eating, drinking - then repeat + movies. We're glad we weren't murdered because we were concerned with watching so many scary movies. Hopefully we can return next winter. We really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. Curling up by a nice warm fire after hiking around the grounds was a nice release from city life. The views from the large living room windows were a great sight to wake up to in the morning while enjoying some coffee. The Grumpy Troll was awesome, great beer and food. Thank you again for welcoming us to the Chalet. It was a great experience for our whole family. Sincerely, The SteiningersDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Mount Horeb:
Construction began in 2007, the home was completed in 2010. (lots of work! :)
I fell in love with general feeling of the property, views and surrounding area.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
8.5 acres of land provides large open space for outdoor games and walks in the woods.
A 40x80 foot natural swimming pool / pond and a 60 running stream are the newest additions to the property. Finished landscaping is also complete. Overall this make for a wonderful outdoor space.
Late Spring, Summer and early fall bring beautiful sunsets and unusual cloud formations. The views of falling snow from the hilltop are a site to see in the winter.
