Wanting to escape the hectic Christmas' season, we wanted to find serenity in the quietness of the woods. We knew we had found what we were looking for the moment we stepped into the cabin. The peacefulness, the beautiful view and the warmth throughout the entire cabin was breathtaking. Our Christmas of 2011 will forever be a memorable one. We received a call from Fred that first night, he wanted to see if we had made it. He asked if we had a Christmas tree. We were unsure of our plans on buying one, but regardless we did come prepared with a few lights and ornaments. Fred did not hesitate a bit when he said that we could cut a tree from his land. Imagine how excited we were, to be able to pick and cut our own Christmas tree! We will forever be grateful to have been given such a special Christmas gift. Christmas morning will be one we'll never forget. We had been hoping it would snow for Christmas and after enjoying our cozy Christmas breakfast we all stood in awe looking outside to see the beautiful falling snow. We spent a lot of time together as a family (something that is difficult to do at home with everyone’s busy schedule) walking on the frozen lake, ice fishing, gazing at the stars at night, baking Christmas cookies, having warm fires, and drinking hot chocolate of course. We would like to return, maybe in the summer, if we can all break away from work or school again. We highly recommend this piece of heaven to anyone looking for relaxation, quality family time, quietness, tranquility and just some breathing space. Enjoy!

It is hard to put into the words the truly wonderful experiences I have had at this cabin get-a-way. My husband and I (and other various family and friends) have stayed here twice in the past few years and we have truly wonderful memories that will last us a lifetime. The listing description is 100% accurate and although my sister actually booked the property both times with the owner, she expressed how helpful, honest and personable he was. The cabin itself was so awesomely rustic but at the same time provided all the ammenities that we needed. The screened in porch was definatley the highlight for me as I could snuggle up with a book and a blanket or take a nap in the hammock. At night we sat around with cocktails and played cards and board games with the wonderful woods and view of the moonlit water surrounding us. We have gone both times in mid to late September which provided perfect "snuggle" weather. The smell of the wood burning fireplace is the icing on the cake. I am revisiting this sight now as we are looking to come back for the 3rd time sometime in 2011, this time with our daughter who will be 3 then. With the lake activites and surrounding woods, I think it will be a wonderful famiy get-a-way. And it is close enough to town to provide easy access to the grocery store or shopping for a day. Can't wait to come back!!!
Owner response:Although I never solicit reviews it has been nice to see the public feedback from some of my guests this summer...in this case a repeat guest from Iowa. We have an on site guest book that has dozens of positive reviews...never we have had any negative feedback. Our family retreat is a special place that we are happy to share and we appreciate those guests that find it special in the way our family has for over 20 years. The simplicity and the privacy combine to create an atmosphere that say "relax", and most of us do!!

My wife and I spent the week before Labor Day, here. It exceeded all of our expectations. The pictures are great, but do not reflect the craftmanship put into this cottage. Out lab loved it! She spent her cabin time in the fantastic screened porch, not showing any desire to be in the cabin. We took our 19' boat, and the dock and water depth were more than adequate for it. We spent 6 days on the water, and only managed to explore half of the lake. Extremely diverse fishery. We caught 8 species. The fire ring location is so peaceful, we cooked virtualy every meal over it. If you like dining out, there are several highly recommended restaurants in the area. The owner was extremely helpful in answering my questions, before arriving. Like the cottage owner says, "if you can't relax here, you just can't relax." Highly recommended!

Our family stayed in Fred's cabin in the middle of Aug. this year, and we can't say enough how private and beautiful this property is. There are no neighbors, as this cabin sits on 60 acres. It's on a very wide part of the Chippewa River which connects to the Flowage. It has one large bedroom with all the beds in the upstairs. The lower level is comfortable with a nice kitchen, living room, etc. The screened-in porch (or zen porch as my wife called it) is worth the price of admission alone. Nice porch with a gas grill. Down by the water is a fire pit, private pier, a canoe, paddle boat, 2 person kayak and a swimming platform. You will not be disappointed. Send your deposit already.
