San Juan apartment description
This is a charming Old San Juan second floor apartment facing San Sebastian street that will allow you to live and experience as a local this magical 500 year old city called Old San San Juan. It has two bedrooms and a cozy living/dining room with all the modern ammenities of large plasma tv, dvd and music within the ambiance of a high ceiling colonial apartment.
The master bedroom has a king size bed with a 32 inch plasma television for your entretainment. The master opens to the balcony so that you can enyoy the 'street' from the balcony.
The second bedroom has a bunk bed which has a full bed in the lower part and a twin bed on the top. It has a window that opens to an interior patio that will let you experience the most incredible cross ventilation of colonial times. Both bedroom have split units for air conditioning at the desired temperature and ceiling fans if that is your fancy. The living/dining area has its own a/c unit and two ceiling fans so that you can combine the ventilation that you wish, including opening the three double doors that lead into the balcony overlooking the street
The full kitchen facilities will allow your to explore your culinary fancy on those days that your chose not to eat in one of the one hundred restaurants within walking distance in Old San Juan. The apartment is located within a block of San Cristobal a 27 acre military fortress built by the Spaniards during colonial times and in active use until WWII. From the balcony of the apartment you will relax looking down San Sebastian street, famous for its yearly festival in the month of January. The apartment is located in the residential part of San Sebastian but within two blocks of the bustling and partying of the street, which is the address for many of the best restaurants and bars of the city.
Half a block north is the most amazing view of the Atlantic ocean and one block lies what I call the 'front lawn' of the apartment: a beautyfull grass area of the fort that is tucked between the fort, Norzagaray street and tne Ocean that will allow you to practice your tai chi chuan, read a book or smoke a good cigar.
If gambling is your cup of tea, the apartment is located six blocks from Sheraton Hotel that has a 10,000 square feet casino.
There are over fifteen public squares in Old San Juan all within walking distance from the apartment, which will give many hours of relaxation and entretainment.
Cristo street, the mecca of outlets and fashion stores is five blocks away and the famous jeweleries of San Juan await you in Fortaleza Street.
If you are a cigar smoker you will be four and a half blocks away from the best cigar lounge in the carribbean and possibly the east coast.
Old San Juan has a sun deck with a Jacuzzi in the Seafearers facilities that is just four blocks away.
A beautiful secluded (almost secret) beach is 10 walking minutes away. Don't believe those that tell you Old San Juan does not have a beach, they just do not know. If you want a full blue flag beach Escambron is a 10 minute taxi cab ride away.

Charming place in a great location
Charming place in a great location
This is one of the nicest places that our family has ever stayed at. The descriptions are accurate in all regards, the owners were very responsive and flexible, and the place was spotless. The Old San Juan location on narrow San Sebastián St is just perfect and only blocks from one of the old forts. We have 11 year old twins and the layout worked very well for us with the room with bunk beds for the boys. The second floor balcony is a wonderful amenity where my wife and I would have glass of wine before going out for diner with our boys. While sitting there you really get a true feel for the fabric of Old San Juan with the music thumping in the corner bar down the street and the elderly woman in her night dress talking to her neighbors balcony to balcony. Four large double doors open up from both Master Bedroom and Living/Dining Room to the balcony giving the whole place an open, airy feeling. The spaces were nicely appointed with tasteful, comfortable furniture and well decorated with posters and artwork depicting the local San Sebastián festival. Another wall had a collection of mirrors of all shapes and sizes. When we asked the owner's son, a nice young man who met us at both check in and check out, if the place had been professionally decorated, he told us that the did it themselves. Lastly, Old San Juan is a wonderful place to visit. There are so many colors and architectural details to observe just walking through the streets. There are lots of nice places to eat and the two forts are just fantastic. The tunnel tour in San Cristobal Fort is well worthwhile. El Morro Fort is not to be missed. Highly recommended!!

location as described. An easy walk to forts and local restaurants. Accomodations were as described. Kitchen was well equipped for light meals. A trolley stop was just around the corner and we utilized it several times. The owner gave us a brief tour of the immediate area prior to turning over the keys and that was very beneficial to us. We toured the rainforest while there and also drove to Ponce to visit The Golden Roseapple Farm - a coffee hacienda. Parking could be a problem but there was a parking garage that we used one evening.

Why the Owner Chose San Juan:
I love Old San Juan and when not in use I enyoy just experiencing the city. Believe me when I tel you that there is something magical about just being in the city. The apartment is very cozy and close nough to everything but not in the middle of the noise and bustle of the city nighlife. The area where is located is the easiest to find street parking and very convinient to go in and out of the old city, where the traffic is sometimes hectic.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The main benefit is enoying the charms of the Old City. Getting up in the morning and walking down the street to Manolin to have breakfast. Spending a lazy morning with the pigeons in the Parque de las Palomas or in the Plaza de Armas. Having lunch at one of the great SOFO restaruants and enyoing an afternoon walk aronud the Paseo de la Princesa and Paseo del Morro is just the begining of your vacation with the advantage that you are within walking distance to you private quarters! Nightlife and dinner are always an adventure and within the streets that surround the apartments you will explore the over hundred bars and restaurants that call Old San Juan home. I am sure you will find more that one to your liking. If you are in Old San Juan you must like history. On the San Sebastian street area you will find the oldest church in Puerto Rico (Second of the Americas) the Museum of the Americas, the National Gallery and the Museum of Art and History. A block away from the apartment is San Cristobal Fort a 27 acre military wonder of colonial times. In the plaza San Jose at the end of San Sebastian you will find a Ponce de Leon statue that was made with the cannon balls left by a Holland attack to the city which were melted in New York and cast into the statue that you can enjoy will having a frozen daiquiri form Nono's in front of the square.
