Me and four of my friends from Sweden stayed in the chalet for 35 days during the ski season. It was great! Better than anticipated, and bigger than we thought! Even though we had kind of a dry month (when speaking of snowfall) we definitely enjoyed our time in Kicking Hourse. And the owner was very helpful via email when we encountered any problems (we didn't have phones with canadian numbers, if we did i'd think he'd be just as helpful over the phone). Averall, a great experience! Recommended!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our two small children. We had all of these activities planned out to do while we were here but the kids just wanted to play at the cabin. They loved the rocks, the dragon flies, the simple things. It was so relaxing to sit out on the deck and let the kids run around... no worries about traffic or the typical city worries. There were also toys there for the kids to play with. It was the perfect place for us to get a few days of down time :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words Janine, glad to hear when people enjoy it for the same reasons we do - simply getting away and enjoying the surroundings with our kids.

Stayed at this lovely house for eight nights as part of our 2 week vacation adventure in the Rockies. High up on a mountain road, 17 km. outside of Golden, this newly constructed home was great for sleeping, cooking and relaxing. Spectacular views of the mountains, and above a beautiful valley with double rainbows on several nights. We used it as a base to sight see and hike in Yoho, Glacier, Revelstoke and Kootenay National Parks. Loved the entire area in and around Golden- very different from Canmore, our first destination. House is wonderful for singles, couples and small families.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the review Jessica, and for the suggestions on things to do in the area, including your notes in the guest log :)

You mention that the neighbors aren't visible, but you could also say how quiet it is! Great kitchen stuff (pots, pans, glasses, etc.) relative to other places we've been. Felt very much like home. Again, overall a great place!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We loved your design and very much appreciated the light and incorporation of the surrounding natural features. Your favorite part about staying at the chalet? Coming home dead-tired at the end of the day to a hot shower, lovely accommodations, and comfortable beds.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It was awesome. The place was great, and there was lots of room for the two families, toys, and gear. That in slab heating was a big hit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Steve and Sharon love everything the mountains have to offer, and wanted to introduce their kids to the things they love, so they purchased a secluded lot in the mountains 5 years ago. Since then, they designed their own chalet, and with the help of local contractors, build the chalet of their dreams over the past few years. We hope our guests will have as much fun out here as we do.
