Annapolis house description
Email or text for availability. The house is already rented for Navy Commissioning Week 2014.
***I do discount for smaller groups in the 6-8 people range so consider the house even for your small groups***
***I have not been very good at asking for testimonials but the house has been rented over 40 times without complaint. People love the house and its uniqueness. Its character perfectly fits with historic Annapolis and the water.***
***Do not underestimate the size of the house. The house has 4 finished levels with each of the top 2 levels having 3 Bedrooms, plus a bedroom in the basement, plus another room that can be used for living space during the day and closed off for a great sleeping space at night giving you 8 private spaces plus sofa bed in the basement.
DOGS ALLOWED WITH OWNER PERMISSION.
Over the years the property has been one of the first to rent for Navy Commissioning Week due to its ability to accommodate large numbers of people combined with its historic yet modern feel appropriate for a visit to Annapolis . The word 'character' is used often by guests. The property was built in the 80's as historic replica of a famous ship captains house (circa 1714) in Portsmouth, NH but has a welcoming modern flavor. It has just enough 'historic' to feel unique and plenty of 'modern' to feel comfortable. You will not feel like you are an old dated house. The community itself has been written about because of the many historic reproduction houses built by one builder combined with other unique houses (no two houses are alike in the community). The community is very quite as it only has one street in and one out so has very little traffic especially after dark.
More about the house....
Imagine: an amazing Mahogany front door entrance, large plank pine hardwood floors with hand forged nails throughout the 3 upper levels, historic cage bar, 6' x 6' overhead beams on the main living area with fans, 4 fireplaces, 6 over 6 windows, unique trim and moldings, extra wide staircases up to the 2nd and then 3rd levels combined with recent modern paint, gourmet kitchen, granite counter tops, tile back splashes, marble vanity tops, hand crafted woodworking, built in cabinets, crown molding, modern paint and more. Except for the basement which is tile flooring the entire house is wide plank hardwood floors.
The house is not overly decorated as the unique building features speak for themselves and each room has its own style. The owner has invested heavily in the photography of Thomas Mangelson one of the worlds premier nature and panoramic photographers.
Living Layout: The property has 4 living levels (including the basement) with 3 bedrooms on each of the upper two levels and one in the basement. The top level allows guests to feel like they have some privacy away from the main living area and people describe it as 'bed and breakfast' feeling. The 2nd level contains 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths and contains the master bedroom.
The main living area has a kitchen which flows directly into a family room called 'The Keep' with unique brick flooring. Opposite the kitchen is a large dining room with table seating for 10-12. Across the hall from the kitchen is a large 16 x 22 family room which is often converted to a bedroom/living room by adding 1-2 beds for guests to one side. (this room is not included in the bedrooms but is an extra space if needed)
The basement is finished with tile flooring and is the TV/Entertainment room with surround sound system and 58' flat screen, with several comfortable couches and massage chair. The basement couch has two ottomans which essentially turn it into a very comfy bed.
The patio was redone several years ago in a natural stone called Allegheny Rose which is a combination of whites, pinks and vibrant reds. The patio is accessed from french doors in the Keep and also from the back door off the house.
The property has a detached two car garage and plenty of street parking.
The community pier and community waterfront park are about 150 yards from the house and the path leading down runs through the woods.

'When my two brothers and I decided to select an appropriate destination for a family reunion, we all decided upon Annapolis for many reasons. Due to the number of people anticipated to attend, we were immediately drawn to Eric's home due to the size but also due to its ambiance. We were thrilled that we selected this home as it easily accommodated 14 people who were there at any one time given that there were eight adult children along with girlfriends, wives, and even a grandchild. The location was fantastic since it was far enough away from the historic area which can get congested but still close enough for those that wanted to shop, do some sight seeing, and enjoy all that this capital city has to offer. We also got to enjoy both Washington and Baltimore since the home provided easy access to the main roads. Finally, Eric was gracious enough to let us use some kayaks and he took us out on his boat to do some tubing and enjoy the water ways in the area. We would definitely recommend this home and would welcome the opportunity to return even with a smaller group. Thanks, Eric!' -- Dave and Family

We loved this house
We enjoyed spending Thanksgiving 2011 at this location with family who wanted to meet in a central location. The house was in a great location and nicely maintained and decorated. Everyone enjoyed the uniqueness of the house and the quite neighborhood. The owner went out of his way to give us a ride on his boat which was certainly an added benefit.
