Dewees Island house description
Across from Ancient Dunes beach access path, this lovely beach house has 3 bedrooms plus a loft.
The first floor has an open, airy floor plan. The kitchen, dining room and family room with a fireplace are all connected. The main part of the house has wood walls and wood cathedral ceiling. Hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen includes a center island with barstools.
Watch the sunrise from an unscreened porch on the East side of the house and the sunset from a screened porch on the West side . Both porches are large and offer tremendous outdoor living opportunities. The main part of the home expands to encompass this outdoor space. The screened porch offers a fun way for kids to 'camp out' .
On the first floor there are two bedrooms with a shared bath between. One bedroom has a queen bed; the other has a bunk with an additional trundle. There is also loft that is great for playing games, reading a book, catching a nap, or extra sleeping space if desired. Countless books & games are in the home for your enjoyment.
The private Master bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and includes a walk-in closet and private bathroom.
The house has a 50 inch flat screen TV in the living room. Games for family fun. Wireless internet helps you keep in touch.
The house is close to community center, tennis courts and swimming pool. Nature Center offers lots of programs for kids and adults. Golf cart parking and fishing equipment storage areas are under house. The house comes with two golf carts.
There’s an outside shower to enjoy after a day on the beach. The setting is so private that you could shower in the buff & only you & the sky would know!
Dewees is a unique island paradise allowing you & your family to slow down your pace & spend your time surrounded by nature -- fishing, crabbing, and canoeing, bird watching, & beach going on deserted sandy beaches-- but at the same time enjoy community amenities like a swimming pool, tennis courts, and art shows at the community building. Don't forget to visit the Nature Center to learn all about the Island and its natural inhabitants.
The minute you get on the ferry, you'll know you made the right choice. You'll feel stress level drop as you watch the sights.
Dolphins are frequently seen on the 20-minute passenger ferry ride to the island. You can park your car at the private Dewees Marina on the Island of Palms. No cars are allowed on Dewees. Be sure to bring your groceries. You won't want to leave if you don't have to!
All of this is within easy reach of historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
Rental includes 2 golf carts. The ferry ride costs $10 round trip per person (subject to change). There will be a $500 damage deposit obtained. From that, ferry usage charges will be deducted after your stay is completed. 9.5% local rental tax. (subject to change).

We enjoyed our stay very much. The isolation and seclusion was wonderful. I didn't think my wife and kids would enjoy it but its all they have talked about and want to return in July. Truly am enjoyable adventure of a life time.

We had no idea what to expect when we planned to vacation on Dewees Island. We just knew that we needed a quiet, relaxing getaway. Wow! It was that AND so much more!!! Todd was a very helpful and gracious host. The home was beautiful - I loved the large screened-in porch and our kids loved the Wii. Plenty of space - bright, cheerful, and clean. The island was amazing - we saw alligators, egrets, a water moccasin, deer, raccoons, starfish, pelicans, dolphins, more alligators, and turtles. The beach was beautiful - full of shells, driftwood, and peace. The essence of serenity. I asked my kids (9 and 10), on the way home, "Where do you want to go for our next family vacation?" At the same time, they both shouted, "Dewees Island!" I guess it's unanimous! :o)

A Wonderful Slice of Heaven

The older I get, the more I have come to relish perfect moments in my life. Such was the case in our stay at the Hoover House on Dewees Island at the end of February. There were 5 of us and each had our own space. All the modern accessories were available for the kitchen, we had two golf carts to get around the island and view the wildlife or go fishing, and just about a 1/2 block from the house was the Ancient Dunes Boardwalk to a magnificient beach! The house is bright and cheerful and Ruth and Todd could not have been more accommadating! Fishing, wildlife viewing (we took one cart out at night and saw deer and raccoons everywhere!), just relaxing, and pretending we were professional beach bums was the order of the day. I cannot speak highly enough about our stay!
